Make that 9 hours, but Im sure if a deal is agreed, then the transfer could be completed before the day ends..I think its stupid that we are still negotiating this late

Especially considering we don't have a first choice keeper and it's going to be hard to get a good one this late.

I hope he stays, joins the first team again, we go far in the champion league and make an actual attempt at winning the league and next season he can sign on for Madrid and we can get a good goal keeper. Right now we do not have any recognized keeper for United.

It may be a financial thing. If Madrid have money in their piggy bank because their other summer targets didn't happen then today's the day for them to up their offer. On the other hand if we're shelling out on Martial (and ?) then we may be ready to grab some cash.

Its the fact that we dont really have a good gk ourselves that worries me..The fact that we can spend 36 mil on potential means that we are financially very strong..the thought of Romero or Cillisen doesnt fill me with any confidence..I trust DDG as a gk, focused or not

It will take a miracle for us to hold onto him. I really am a sucker for miracles on deadline day though.
Just 9 hours left, and in that 9 hours the following must occur:

- We must agree a fee
-Madrid must convince Navas to leave
- Have to agree a fee with Ajax for Cillisen
- Ajax must find a replacement for him

I hope one part of the chain falls apart.

The window is open for 9 hours?! I'm gonna go to bed and wake up with Dave gone and Cillessen signed :(

Our transfer business hasn't concerned me all summer, and I've tried to be rational about all that has transpired, but I'll be furious if we sell him now.

It's gone too far down the line. Keep him, play him and work out over the next twelve months just how to replace him.

If we sell then it simply reaffirms just how powerful the Madrid machine is.

I don't think I have ever been this nervous on deadline day about an outgoing, would be seriously pathetic if United sell him now

how's that?
we currently aren't playing him, so do you think that'll go on for a whole season before a free transfer?

or do you think he'll magically get his "head right" from Tuesday and be back to top form?

getting a decent fee is a good end to a tricky scenario

Hope it's Navas along with the 30m euros... Romero as our starting keeper would be a joke

I'm amazed anyone ever thought this would end any differently. There has been a lot of posturing on both sides but this was always going to be the outcome.

I am not desperate because he could leave.

I am desperate because it looks like if the club really wants to go on with Romero.

This is fecking infuriating. We hold out until the last day, only to end up in a position where our (seemingly) only option for replacing him is the keeper Real Madrid want to replace for DDG.

So they get exactly what they wanted, and we get a bit of money and one of their rejects.

fecking hell.

Well if the idea was to sell him then surely the club should have bought a replacement, LVG kept saying that he would see after 2nd. Frankly now we are left with an average keeper and about 8 hrs to get a new one

Looks like it's going to go to the wire. Not looking good though, seems to be an agreement and De Gea likely does want to go. But we need a new keeper if he leaves, really hoping for Navas in exchange.

So it's less than £22m? We held out until the last day and then caved, all because Uncle Jorge got us a nice, massively overpriced new striker.

Plus ca change...

It's more about the fact that instead of just selling him the moment we realized he would be going, we've left it to the last minute to find a possible replacement. We don't look any better for trying to stand firm only to cave at the last minute, and we've wasted an entire transfer window and a preseason that could have been to identify a suitable replacement, and bed him into the team.

It's quite unbelievable just how incompetent we look.

They offered us like 13m pounds before.

Im pretty sure we will get Navas and 25m or so pounds for De Gea.

"It’s been just over a week since I signed the contract with my new team. It seems like yesterday when I was four and joined for the first time Atleti in Casarrubuelos. From the plane I travel in to join Manchester United I remember with nostalgia, that this nostalgic feeling will be my traveling companion for a long time.

Like any child, every evening was accompanied by excitement and my parents (without their support none of this would have been possible) with the sole aim of defending the goal of Calderón someday.

A little over a year and a half I completed my dream and sealed it with two titles, I will never forget that feeling, I will never forget the people’s faces painted red and white. I can not forget neither the tears of Barcelona, behind the chants of support for us.

Today, 16 years later, I undertake a new challenge with the same enthusiasm of the boy and the eternal gratitude of a feeling, that only we understand, that I will carry forever in my heart regardless of the badge that adorns my chest.

I see from the airplane window how I leave behind my house, thanks to my new club for the opportunity it provides me with the security there to finish my education from a distance, that they only put the miles, you are proud of that boy who dreamed that the Calderon would sing his name.

A thousand feet above the ground I remember, now more than ever, all the teammates, coaches and club workers who made it possible that the child is now a man.

Winning a title there is a mix of smiles and tears. This is what happens to me now, tears because I am leaving, smiles for the illusion of something new, but also the assurance that someday I will return home. Thanks for everything."

nice of him to stab them in the back.
