It could be that Woodward finds Perez to be untrustworthy, hence Ed's indirect approaches to Real players.

Yes, he knows that Perez bled him for Di Maria. The scuppered Coentrao loan deal was perhaps also on his mind. You get the feeling that Woody is competitive character.

I dont really get why's he's come out tbh.
Not like he's under pressure with an imminent election ...
He's just dragging the story out for another week, while the entire football world laughs at him (and us a bit too obviously).
You'd think he'd shut up and let it die.

Apart from that its spectacularly unprofessional. I know football tends not to follow the usual business rules but its just really small time and shows a lack of class.

I just realised that my mental image of Perez is a slightly fatter and more senile version of Rafa.

Mata > Edurne

Yeah! :D

Speaking of Perez, I'm sure lots of people are praying someone will rip that cocksucker's fecking arm off and shove it up in his fecking ass. With all due respect, quoting all the swearing words from all Martin Scorcese movies would not even be enough to describe that guy.

Perez needs to blame someone.
After his team screwed up the De Gea deal, he is under huge pressure as papers love to ridicule him all the time.

When Perez says "We had made a promise to him", it is funny. I wonder how many promises was Navas given before they tried to force him out of the team

God I hate the media. When you see refugees from war stricken countries risking their lives and the lives of their children to get to a country where they could have some semblance of a life being painted as opportunistic benefits cheats and then on the back pages stories of Footballers being "Doomed" to sign multimillion pound contracts to play a game a couple of times a week you know the world is all sorts of fecked up.
Spot on!

:(

Perez really should put his shovel away.
I don't think anyone could have said it better. We should just not respond. Maybe have one of the journos pose a question to LVG at his next presser about Perez's comments and LVG can respond with a swat of the hand! Will say all that we want to :D

To be fair I think our best course now is to ignore him/them

We've made our stance clear, there's no need to keep rising to their sly digs any further, let them cry, salty fecks

Can't blame Perez. Regardless of what really happened that day (something none of us will know for sure), he has to save face or the vultures will be out to get him.

Hilarious. You gonna cry now Perez?

If we get ddg back in the team and playing well this season then regardless of where the 'blame' lies we'll have done brilliantly. The fact that mob are upset is just the perfect cherry on top

There's something he says that bothers me though - namely that after stating all summer that we would not sell, we finally agreed to negotiate on the last day. Why the change of heart?

Now I don't think we will ever fully know what actually transpired, but I do wonder whether our apparent chasing of Pedro, Neymar, Bale, Ramos and subsequent failure to land any of them doesn't indicate that Woodward doesn't hugely overestimate his own (and our) ability to land players from the biggest clubs in Europe, because if it's not that that, then it's baffling to think that he would go after them just to "flex muscles". Talk is cheap, and that's all it was if you ask me.

It does appear to be a theme with our pursuit of players. Kane was also a target, nothing came of that either - I reckon had we offered Martial money for him we would have got him.

So were we actually convinced we might be able to sign any of those 5?

As for the De Gea case - you all know my feelings on that - I think it would have sensible to let him go, negotiating a fair price for him. I firmly don't believe he'll sign an extension, so we just lose him in Jan when he signs a pre-contract and then professional or not, frankly his head will already be in Madrid again if indeed it isn't earlier.

Perez is desperate to make sure that Madrid fans and the Spanish media get on his side of the story. He cant even get his fake facts straight the original statement from Madrid stated that an agreement was reached with United by lunch time yet in one of the quotes I read he said that United agreed to negotiate two hours before the deadline! He bashes the club for our incoming transfers for Herrera, Pedro, Otamendi and Coentrao yet somehow it is our fault for completing the outgoing transfer of de Gea. It makes no fecking sense at all. Sadly this will indeed tarnish the reputation of United to some degree, I dont expect a club statement but surely some sort of interview with Woodward will happen or the club's official spokesperson will speak to the media.

This has turned into the kind of saga that quiet guy David De Gea would have dreaded. Poor guy must have thought that with just a year left on his contract, Madrid and United will be able to reach some sort of an agreement over the fee in pre-season itself. The saga continued when the season started and has continued even after the window has closed. The two clubs are in a war of words at the moment over him and his very participation in the Euros is at stake as well. I would feel for him if not for the fact that he decided to join that shower in the first place.

My only hope for the season is that we play Real Madrid in knock-out rounds of the Champions League, they get a last minute penalty which, if scored, will take them through. DDG saves, we progress, and the Bernabeau faithful attacks Perez' limo on his daily commute into the office, and in the commotion his tire is blown. Then it turns out that his driver doesn't carry a spare tire, so Perez has to wait it out inside his limo, and then walk to the office afterwards, arriving just as the important meeting he was supposed to attend is about to end.

I don't think that's too much to ask for.

He sounds like a child who is in trouble and is now blaming anyone and everyone in an attempt to get away with it. Even if it did take us 8 hours to do something he says should take us 1, at least it didn't take us 2 fecking months like it did for him to actually bid in the first place the useless tit. If you burn all but one day of the window doing feck all, you can't complain when you run out of time because its entirely your fault. I've said it for years, real madrid are a joke club and from this point on we should flat out refuse to do any business with them, wether its buying or selling.

Will this thread turn into another di Maria thread

What's there to win for us? That's right, nothing...

I would have be thought the chance to prove what Perez is saying is true, with Fifa confirming it, would be motivation enough.

Without the proof it's just mud slinging, and makes Madrid look very bitter.

While Perez can run his mouth as much as he pleases, my only worry is all this is destabilizing De Gea even further.. We need this transfer talk to die down a little so that he can seamlessly start playing..

Maybe the renewal is close, hence Perez wants to screw his mind..

I think the international break is good for you in terms of getting his head right and back in the team. If you were playing Liverpool tomorrow, I doubt he'd start.

United will say one thing but not entirely mean it. It was the last day because as it turns out, any sooner and we would be the ones calling them. If we called them, that means we're selling. So they come to us and we accepted a deal that we were happy with. If they never offered that deal, we wouldn't have agreed. As for the other stories - they're just stories. No one can say 100% who we were after. Anyone thinking we made that bid for Neymar is on some kind of medication. The press lied, because they had no idea. How many players that we purchased, did they actually link us too?

Not sure if this was posted before - but how is this not tapping up? United should really report this to FIFA - its light as day now:

"A year ago, we understood that the future after Iker [Casillas] was De Gea and we had made a promise to him," Perez said. "Now we don't have any idea what we will do next year."

We should report them and ensure they get that transfer ban.
