Dean Henderson | Nottingham Forest loan watch

I don't forget, that's why I said he's a good keeper. But we need better, all winning teams have technical keepers, players that not only stop shots but also contribute to the team's build up.

As you mentioned neither De Gea nor Henderson are capable of that, that doesn't mean their shit. But they're not modern keepers.
Exactly.

Wait, you serious question who is superior shot stopper? Damn man...
I question who is the better all-round goalkeeper. And the answer is glaringly obvious. People said DDG would have saved Kane's first, so I pointed out he couldn't even stop Brentford's first goal

Yeah, me. And involved in coaching goalkeepers at my son's club. One of the most basic fundamentals of goalkeeping is getting in a ready stance when you're likely to have to make a save. Which involves weight forwards, on the balls of your feet. Henderson was completely flat-footed, with his weight back on his heels. That's why he couldn't react and looked rooted to the spot. It was an unusual error for a top keeper but an obvious one all the same.
well I played in goal for 30 years and know how you can be beaten buy a mis-hit shot. the point is you are in position for the shot until it's shanked/scuffed.

It's interesting what you say about balls of the feet. I have began to notice this season how this doesn't seem to be the case any more (not saying you are wrong). Keepers seem to look more flat-footed these days. DDG certainly was on occasions on Saturday. It may have to do, in DDG's case. why he uses his feet more than I would like and for others with the sweeping role they have to play.

I've looked at henderson again and still don't see how he had any chance of reaching the shot. My point remains that he is a better all-round keeper than DDG. Good enough of United? Maybe not. but still better than DDG (although he looks more secure when not playing it out shot at the back)

I've found commentators tend to do that a lot for all goalkeepers. I suppose it builds the narrative that exciting things are happening and the viewer needs to be watching. De Gea gets it a lot as well, there was a save against Southampton that you'd expect your keeper to make but the commentators talked like it was an amazing reflex save. In reality it was the kind of thing you'd consider a mistake if the keeper didn't save it. Indeed it was very similar to one of the mistakes that Henderson actually did make for us, and people still bring it up to criticise him 18 months later.

Yeah that’s probably true! Let’s face it, goalkeeping is almost an entirely different sport and ex-footballers don’t tend to be the most modest folks, they intuitively believe they understand everything on the pitch,

I think it sums up his attitude to football. It's all about him and not the team. So long as he saves a penalty it didn't matter who wins or loses.

I can imagine him at United willing De Gea to let in goals so he gets in the side, never offering any help in training to anyone else but just looking to put himself centre stage
Think you called this spot on.

Just seen Spurs 1st goal. Too much out of the goal, not prepared for the shot and closer to his left post than to the middle. If he was positioned like he should have been he'd have a chance to save the shot cause it was weak.

I can see him being like that. His seemingly intense desire to be Utd No.1 meaning he’s only in it for himself and feck everyone else around him, especially direct competitors for his position.

But he’s an English goalkeeper so he’s untouchable at the moment. If he’s English No.1 for Qatar and mistakes are made then it’ll change quickly.

Let's just say if DDG had let in that goal you'd see 10 threads and articles and 'analysis' videos popping up the very next day and he'd rightfully be slaughtered for it. Instead we still have tons of people online trying to defend Henderson for not even attempting to save a pea shot that was probably no more than a foot away from him

Yes, and pointing to his penalty saves statistics all the while him standing totally wrong for Kane shot.

He might save a penalty later to stop Haaland getting his 11th of the night

Whoscored's highest rating gk my butt.
He makes mistake that leads to goal every game.

Certainly having a bad day today it might be a bit harsh but would you blame him for the fourth goal too?

He was over at that side of the goal and it was not into the corner yet he got nowhere near it.

He is a weird keeper to me I mean he is not small yet he seems to shrink in goal for shots at him

People overrate him based on him being loud and passing better than De Gea. But that 4th goal is a routine save for De Gea. Haven't seen the other 3 goals yet.

5th one goes right between his legs

Most of us Manchester United fans: calls out United on the daily.
Some Manchester United fans: how dare Dean Henderson call us out! I hope he fails!

He didnt call out United, he scuttled away from a challenge with his tail between his legs then bigged himself up in the media.

Did ole promise he was his number one or that he would get games? Seems like that was the issue. Should have just said i can’t promise playing time

You can't be promised that you will be starter no matter what ffs.

He got a,chance. Was shit. He is shit. Good riddance, you cocky bastard.
And yes, i want him to fail. Because he was a rat.

It doesnt even matter what promises were made or not by Ole before. In his last interview Henderson basically said he had to get out of the club before ETH could see him or talk to him.

Which was just another way of him saying he's realised he's too mentally weak to compete for the spot.

Should’ve got 50m for him when we had the chance.

Should’ve signed for us. It’s all gone south for Deano.

Christ, you wouldn't think this guy is our player and that it's actually beneficial to us if he plays well the way people are carrying on.

He is not good. I will sell him and avoid pickford 2.0 be our first choice GK.

It's quite natural to enjoy it when someone who talks rubbish about us despite being our player has a bad time of it.
