Do You Think Cristiano Ronaldo Is The Most Exciting Young Player In Europe?

David Bentley (Arsenal) looks a great prospect too. Hails from the DBecks school of speech but has already scored for Arsenal and England U21. A United fan as well.

I'm going to say young is 22 or under as some 22 year olds can still play for the U21s. My top 5 (except I could only narrow it down to 6) rankings are:

1) Cassano
2) Kaka
3) Joaquin (just qualifes but will be 23 in a few months)
4) Cristiano Ronaldo
5=) Rooney
5=) Torres

Nope, no Cockneys. Barrett's alright though, wouldn't suprise me if he made it.

How many excellent young Mancs do Man Utd have coming through?

Not sure about whether they are Mancs or not but here are some British players that we have high hopes for:

Darren Fletcher obviously has come through
Eddie Johnson
David Jones
Chris Eagles
Keiran Richardson
Sylvan Ebanks-Blake
Paul McShane
Ramon Calliste although he needs to be more consistent
Richie Jones whos is younger than this lot (just turned 17) but there are high hopes for him.
Tom Heaton excellent keeper who has come into his own this year, 18.

There are also some others but these are the main ones that people are talking about. SAF said he think that 4 or 5 of our youth crop can make it so things are looking good.

French Henry, how many french players are in the arses reserves (youth team) at the moment? Are there any brittish players except for bentley that are likely to make the grade, or is all your real talent imported from France? Does that worry you for the future? When Arsene is gone, so will all those french f*ckers mind.....

Yes Cristiano Ronaldo is the most exciting young player in Europe....
I think it's one of Cristiano, Torres & Van der Vaart.

I wouldn't swap our Ronaldo with any young talents in the world that's for sure, not anyone. Don't mind if we can get 1-2 from Raoul's list though.

who is this Cassano?? never heard of him... does he play for one of the big clubs?>

True but you could say that Saviola still hasn’t made the breakthrough.
Rijkaard seems to be the first coach to put coplete faith in him, he is also still Internationaly inexperienced, I think Saviola qualfies.

Not exactly internationally inexperienced, he's played in a large number of international friendlies as well as world cup qualifiers. Bielsa didn't pick him (and riquelme) for WC2002, because he wanted a more experienced side, which eventually didn't work out. :wenger:

I think he's made the breakthrough though. He's considered to be one of the superstars at Barca. None of the coaches have really let him do that greatly there, played as substitute so many times. He's in a bit of a sticky situation with the club though, about contract talks, money, European citizenship. His pay is pretty high at the moment.

Anyway as for exciting young players in Europe..
Cristiano is one of the more exciting players to watch nowadays young or old.

I don't really watch that much nowadays, but I'd go with Torres as well

Darren fletcher is an exciting prospect as well but in a different sense, more of a team player. People don't really get hyped up when he's on the ball.

My Scottish colleague was creaming himself over Fletcher... and to be honest I await the day he performs for United like he did for Scotland against Holland. Pinging passes left right and centre - he's pretty exciting for me.

Van der Vaart hands down.

Cruiff's natural succesor, and I can't remember giving any youngster praise of that kind ever, save Owen (though didn't compare him to Cruiff back then).

Agree with 1-4 but I never rate Rooney too high though.
Hasn't watched Torres play before. What is his playing style and his strong point?

You're right Timm is Dansh, sorry.

United seem to integrate a few foreigners into their youth system, it has'nt produced any good ones yet but apparently Floribert Ngalula is a very talented 17 yr old central midfielder, as if we need another one.

Both Floribert Ngalula and Vincent Kompany joined Anderlecht from aged about seven. I knew you would one day accept that Belgian clubs can produce players.

The question is "who is the most exciting young player in Europe" not who's the best. Despite the fact he may not be the best (yet), I haven't seen anybody as exciting and entertaining as C Ronaldo. We're fortunate to have him.

He's a talented striker with a good all roundgame. Great finisher, good header, can dribble, natural finisher, creates chances for himself.

Thread on him here: https://www.redcafe.net/showthread.php?t=45796

The only 2 French youngsters we have are Aliadiere and Gael Clichy. As far as I know that is it. The best younger players we have right now who could possibly make it are:

Aliadiere - He needs to bulk abit, as shown in the man utd game doesn't have the physical strength to cope yet. Promising player but not quite ready.

David Bentley - Another good player, his best position is in the centre though. He isn't very good on the wing

Ryan Smith - Very very highly rated, has electric pace and can play left wing or upfront.

Justin Hoyte - Rumour has it he is the reason Wenger released Volz, has been impressive for the reserves.

Cesc - this guy has so much talent it is untrue, already playing for our reserve team and is 16, in his little time in England has been very impressive. Obviously as he is young physically he Barca were fuming when he nicked him off them, their former president even said he was the best player they ever produced and only realised that when he was gone.

Senderos - Very highly rated CB, most of the big clubs had tried to sign him. In the youth european championships he man marked Rooney and had him in his pocket the whole match and captained his

The main problem we have had with our younger players is injuries. So many of them when they have promised to break through have got injured. 5 of those 6 players have had major injury problems within the last year. Wenger isn't very keen on younger players playing a lot when they are young, you can burn them out and they could suffer from injury problems later on in their career. Look at Dyer, Gerrard and Owen, played a lot when they were young and have had quite a few problems.

Another problem is when you have a good settled side it is very hard for the youngsters to break through. How can you justify dropping players when they are in good form even if the youngster you want to bring in could turn out to be better.

Perhaps Wenger can for a minute drop his arrogance and give SAF a call about how to deal with such issue.

no. kaka is. then ronaldo.
