There's no sane swing voter going to say "I was on the fence before, but, now that he's a convicted criminal, I'm more inclined to vote trump."
Anyone swayed to vote for him because of his conviction was always going to vote for him.

I'd imagine losing 2-4% of potential voters would likely cost him the EC, even with Biden losing persons to protest votes and sitting out altogether.

I have no proof, thus I accept I may be wrong, but my gut says people are lying on polls. Politics have become so contentious in the US that people are refusing to speak their mind, opting instead to say what they feel is the morally correct opinion.
Yes. Mind you, the 4% are among his current supporters, not independents. If Trump loses 4% of his base, there's a strong likelihood he would lose many more independents. In swing states, even 1-2% can tip the scales.
Exactly. It forces fence sitters to lean into conspiracies to give him their vote anyway. Anyone not fully MAGA they have to now justify voting for a convict. Millions will still do it but its just one more hurdle that these "independents" or fence sitters will have to justify. Before this they could just say "allegations". But, everyone that was salivating for the convictions of Hillary or Joe Biden for years and never finding any evidence despite all the time and money spent. Now have to twist themselves into pretzels to say why Trumps convictions are false despite due process and a jury of his peers.
All those evangelicals on Sunday will have an interesting time praying for their felon and trying to say why god sent a convicted criminal to "save America".

Yeah but it’s not that simple, is it? I’m obviously not saying people will turn to him as he’s convinced. It’s obviously a more nuanced point. And I’m not even saying it’ll happen. Just noting that how social media has managed to corrupt rational thinking in many ways, it’s not outside the world of possibility that a more visible base wjth their crazy rhetoric couldn’t corrupt swing voters.
Hopefully that will help to shave the advantage that he has in the polls. Lets see next polls how they pan out!
The funny thing is when the right wing nut jobs call the election stolen, the justice system a sham, these trials and judges corrupt but then turn around and declare the US the "greatest country in the world". If they think all those things are true then their country would objectively be a corrupt shit hole.

I think that will only apply to those people who think he's been harshly treated by the justice system, which are likely already Trump supporters. He's going to whine and whine about this and come across as an absolute cry baby and likely turn a lot of people off as well. I think this will play very badly for him among independents and also will grow the set of right wing voters who just cannot bring themselves to vote for him.
Ford pardoned him of any federal crimes Nixon might have committed during the Watergate scandal.

If he keeps it up and/or incites violence against anyone involved then it will, we know Trump isn't the brightest but threatening/pissing off the judge would be seriously stupid , in theory he could get 4 years per charge = 170 but if ge gets jail time it would likely be concurrent so probably 4 years max

Think this will be a disaster for the Democrats. Trump now underdog hero among ordinary Americans. Their only hope will be to somehow lock him up, but I think they've played their cards and this whole thing will back fire.

Fair question, with some extreme mental gymnastics and the passage of time, I can see the possibility that some could disassociate him from having a direct responsibility for Jan 6th.
This is a cut & dried case of him being charged & found guilty.
I can't imagine a scenario where that leads to anyone who was undecided coming down in his favour.
But if America has taught me anything its that all bets are off.
Thankfully this is the end of Trump's chances to become President. People are underestimating how damaging a guilty verdict is with most people especially those not too into politics.
