JOSE MOURINHO has told Ed Woodward it is up to him to deliver the players he wants at Manchester United.

Mourinho says he has given the United executive vice-chairman a complete list of his summer transfer targets and the responsibility is now on him to get the deals done.

And Mourinho, in Monte Carlo to watch the Monaco Grand Prix, says from now on it is down to Woodward to make sure United have a squad capable of winning the Premier League next season.

Asked about Griezmann on Sky F1, Mourinho said: “I don’t know – Ed Woodward knows since March who I want, what I want how much I want.

“He knows everything since March,. Now it is for him to work, he can have his holiday in August. In August I am working.”

Mourinho has been planning for a return to Champions League football for months, but was only assured of that fate when his team beat Ajax to win the Europa League.

And now he is determined to escape football at least for a few weeks as he recharges his batteries following a tough first year in charge of United.

He even claims he has no interest in who will win the cup finals being played across Europe this weekend.

Mourinho added: “I am really happy with our season, with the trophies, to be back into the Champions League.

Mourinho says now he has the Europa League in the bag he wants to take a month off from football

"Now is time for me to disconnect completely, to do other things - to enjoy family and friends and forget football. I need that.

"I don’t care about football for a month. I know that today is the day of the FA Cup Final, and cup finals in Spain and Germany and more.

"I don’t care, I don’t care at all. I’m not even interested in results."

This post season will be see a dittering Woodward or messiah Woodward?

I think it's a bit of banter between them. I think it's clear how much pressure Mourinho was under to get us back into the Champions League and now he's done it he's relaxed and he's having a bit of fun putting the same pressure on Woodward now insisting he meets his targets.

Mourinho is absolutely right - you can argue about league position but he's delivered 2 trophies and CL football but now it's time for Woodward to deliver and JM is letting everyone know he's nothing to do with it now, even of it's just to get people off his back for a few months.

Getting into the CL was huge but this is a hugely important off-season if we are to challenge for the title...of Woodward gets it wrong then it almost writes off another year on terms of league/CL challenging.

But after the shambles of his first window, he's pretty much delivered - had a great window last summer and have the feeling this one will be just as exciting.

I think people are reading too much into these comments about Woodward. They probably translate roughly to "feck off with the questions about transfers.".

Is this the thread in which idiot virgins pretend to know how a chief executive at Manchester United should do his job?

Think people are reading too much into it. He is just saying "please stop bothering me about questions I can't give you an answer on". Mourinhos only task transfer wise is to let ed woodward know who or what type og players he would like. It is woodwards job to try and wheel them in without spending more than necessary

... plus with his comments about the final an added bonus of a dig at Wenger.

Thats how I interpreted it too. He basically has just refused to discuss football with any journos at a meaningful level.

Ed has been delivering muppet signings for the past three years now. The exciting part this summer is that Jose knows what he needs to complete the puzzle. The only thing that worries me are the reports that we will *only* have £200 million to spend - the Griezmann signing will eat up nearly half of that and transfer fees are crazy these days. Having said that, we managed well last summer with a lower budget but getting Zlatan on a free helped enormously.

Haha Mourinho has called out countless players publicly this season, and now he's calling out Woodward . Love it!

In all seriousness Ed is a fantastic man, and is criminally underrated here IMO. We haven't always done the best deals, and have overpaid on many occasions but I genuinely doubt Woodward signs the players who he sees fit. Moyes and Van Gaal I can definitely believe were unorganised, in fact I know 100% that Moyes definitely was. Mourinho is completely different. He analyses his targets with forensic detail, and as he said Woodward already had his list of targets for over 2 months now. That doesn't surprise me one bit. I wouldn't flinch knowing Mourinho has identified each position of strengthening, provided a tiered list of targets with each having been profiled. That's the difference with an efficient manager, and Jose's track record with transfers says it all. Look at last summer, all 4 deals done within due time ready for pre-season, and without any serious lingering issues.

Ed will announce a signing soon. you get the feeling Woody is that kind of guy who boasts about his dick to his friends. City signing and taking some twitter coverage away from us would have been killing for him. I think we will sign someone in next week.

I personally love Woodward.

I think he has a very good understanding that the team needs to have star players and win things for United's business model to work.

He is willing to put up the big money when the manager wants.

Watch him get us Griezmann.

I think we will break the £200m mark of the right players come available.

And to be fair, Griezmann at £85m would leave us with £115m theoretically. That would get us a top midfielder and Keane. Maybe even an LB too.

Woodward learnt a lot that first season, I don't think we have to worry on that front now.

Feck it, ship em all off and go with a muppet warchest Woodie! It's FM time.

Smalling: 15 m gbp
Jones: 15 m gbp
Rooney off: 13 m gbp in wages (if he goes for free)
Zlatan off (15 m in gbp wages)
Fellaini: 10 m gbp
Martial: 40 m gbp
Shaw: 10 m gbp

128 m gbp on top of the 200 m gbp = 328 m gbp

Ins: 328 m gbp
Bale 80 m gbp
Griezz: 85 m gbp
Keane: 20 m gbp
Lindelof: 40 m gbp
Mendy: 50 m gbp to beat City
Rakitic: 40 m gbp
Raiola candy: 13 m gbp.
De Gea
Valencia-Bailly-Lindelof-Mendy
Rakitic-Herrera
Pogba
Rashford-Griezmann-Bale

I feel Mourinho and Woodward will get along great. They're both overachievers in their respective fields and will be desperate to get back to the top.

I feel like I should just drop everything and follow Ed around all summer.

If the perisic rumours are true will seem like a step backwards, massively over paying for an inconsistent journeyman suggests we are desperate or have missed out on other targets, 36m plus is a ridiculous fee.

Desperate in May? Oh cmon... If we pay this amount for him it means we really want him. If we really want him it means we have done a lot of scouting and are confident he will fit into the system. Stop being so dramatic...

It's not dramatic, 36m plus add ons for someone who is no better than when inter signed him two years ago for a third of the price and will soon turn 29. Doesn't matter if it's May or august the fee would be laughable.

How the hell did you find out that I'm a virgin?
Did Jim tell you? That guy needs to keep his mouth shut! :o

Woodward has done some awful deals in the last few years. Im referring to the prices paid rather than the players, which aren't his decision. He always pays 30-50% more than what other clubs would have paid.

I think he should stick to the commercial side of things which he has been brilliant at, and hire someone who deals with contracts and signings.

Clearly you have forgotten Moyesy's wall of transfer targets? Three players for every requirement? Many thought he was a genius for that level of organisation.
