With each passing summer, it's also being shown that, that dreadful summer was all on Moyesy. Which most of us suspected anyway.

Yep, said exactly that before in the transfer forum. Moyes list was crap and unrealistic with no plan b options.

Proved any doubters wrong again. Since the dreadful summer of Moyes he has been doing a great job and always getting what the manager needs no matter what.

We need to start winning top trophies as the league and everyone will recognize the great job he did here.

Don't worry, come the first week of June 2018 when we've only brought in one player, he'll be getting slated again for not getting players signed. The 2013 window will get brought back up again to back up how incompetent Woodward is. All the while bemoaning the progress our rivals have been making on their transfer plans (reality will actually show they have signed the same number of players or probably less).

Who or what positions?
I think the obvious one DM take your pick on offer from the press, Dier, Bakayoko (another coup?) being reported, even Weigl getting a mention, The main one Matic seems a no-no now. Perisic, James and also Fabinho (for RB) are also being mentioned, so theres the 4.
If De Gea goes we would probably buy a new goalie. I think Pereira is being groomed for the role in the future, so we may stick with Romero for a season or 2, but thats a big ask. On the other hand, Butland has been talking up Utd for no reason, so you never know if that might be on the cards.

I think its too late for De Gea to go, if Real come calling after the Morata debacle we will tell then De Gea where to stick it. I think a DM and winger/forward will complete our business for the summer.

This summer
Defensive midfielder
Left back
Goalscoring winger

January/next summer
Box to box midfielder/Number 10 depending on whether we will be playing 4231 or 433.

I think those should be our next 5 signings and in that order of importance.

This also had me in tears

It's a difficult market, we understand that. However, a club with the resources Utd have, really should not quibble about paying an extra £5/£10 million extra to get a target over the line

That's a somewhat false economy in these conditions, signings and then success will bring ongoing rewards, standing still does nothing for future results .

A question then , is an accomplished negotiator/businessman the right person to secure signings when his reputation is being a hard head and creating income

Whether we as fans want to sign players due to our opinions, if the Manager wants them to build a successful team then there should be little reason not to ensure those wishes are fulfilled. Seems little doubt that is what is happening at Citeh and to a similar degree at Chelski. Woody would do worse than explain the clubs reluctance to sign these targets, if it's a question of money, then doubtful it's the right answer given our revenue streams, which he has created .

its not about 5-10 mill its teams trying to take the piss i.e inter want cash AND martial on loan and i dont think the chavs like us to much right now after RedRom ;)

It may not all be Woodward, though. I think there's been a general tightening up of transfer policy since Mourinho came in. We made a very good deal with Everton to move Schneiderlin and acceptable deals for Memphis and now Rooney. We are not just letting players go for small sums of money or for nothing at all like in the past and I think it would be the same position in our buying players (outside of the Pogba deal, which was an exceptional case).

Now whether that works for us in the transfer window and coming season, that remains to be seen.

I must admit I'm sure the players that we need are available. Can't blame him for that.

Other clubs do try to take the piss - Morata is a fine example, went to Chelsea for 60 million? When we went in for him - the cnuts at Madrid were asking for 70-80 million?

THe United tax is a real thing and it's a trend we must stop.

I think most clubs know we have money and try to get more from us that's fine, we need to negotiate better.

In the case of Real; over the last few seasons we've had a rough relationship. Refusing to sell DDG or making it difficult and then trying to unsettle or sign their best players, Ronaldo, Ramos, Modric, Bale, Di Maria, etc. Woody's picked a fight with them and rightly so, we've let them walk all over us for a while. We shouldn't be dealing with them at all in my opinion.
