I didn't ever think he was coming so I'm not blaming thing for anything. He just seems like a cocky cnut who loves everyone hanging on his every word.

He hasn't said anything out of the ordinary. It's more a case of people getting wound up by endless speculation.

I like how theres a massive thread every summer. The last couple of have been fantastic, like the Benzema and Ozil threads. Didnt think we would get a large one this summer, but this one is getting there.

This ones only got about another 50 pages to go. All will be known in the next week.

True. The great thing is it always goes the same way.

The thread is started a few years before we are linked by somebody who has seen him, or seen a video on youtube, or heard a newspaper report. It goes slowly until momentum builds up towards the end of the season. People get excited, then wham, they join somebody else, another 40 pages off "we dont need him" and then thread is closed and moved to classics. rofl.

If there was a Ronaldinho thread around 2003 would have loved to have seen it.

Agreed.

I'd say it's 50/50 for players from Belgium. United/Liverpool are much bigger than Madrid/Barca in Scandinavia.

Not really as far as the leagues are concerned. There are no Belgians playing in Spain at the moment apart from a benchwarmer here and there. The only one is Courtois who is just on loan there and is under contract at Chelsea.
However in England you've got Kompany, Vermaelen, Fellaini, Mignolet and Dembele. Add to that the young players like Courtois, Lukaku and now De Bruyne at Chelsea. United even has a few young Belgians such as Vermijl, Januzaj, Ekangamene and Perreira. And don't forget De Laet who just left for another English team. ;) It's also expected that Hazard and Vertonghen move to an English club in the summer.

In Spain there's a youth GK who is half Spanish at Real Madrid, a winger at Sevilla, who has been injured and on loan to Belgian teams more often than he played for Sevilla, and then recently a striker joined Mallorca, but he hasn't played much either. And there's no history of Belgians joining Spanish teams either.

So I'd say it's more likely that Belgians go to the Premier League rather than La Liga.

chelsea may offer him what both manchester clubs cannot .....a starting place and a city type contract.
Or else his agent is simply trying to milk more from one of the manchester clubs.

Anyway, we ll know the answer tomorrow..

Why wouldnt we be able to do that?

it s clear that when it come to wages, chelsea and city are in a league of their own. Moreover, giving hazard a contract not in line with that of other players at OT can create problems for us

I agree with the salary part but not on the starting line up thing. If Hazard sign with us then he's got as much chance of finishing first teamer as he's got with Chelsea. He only have to play AMC

The cryptic clues, isn't just a game... it's either:

a: Because he is genuinely still undecided
b: Because he in appearing undecided it could sway teams to offering more on a contract basis.

Couldn't see us going much more than £130-150k and as Gill says, the endorsements leading on from that at Man Utd are second to none which could very much bring up his wage on par with that that City offer.

Isn't it rumoured that Rooney's wage is a combo of image rights and endorsements for sponsorship appearances in adverts etc?

Would be great if he did indeed come out and reveal his new club tomorrow, but a part of me still think this will go on for ages with him milking the attention all the way.

He is portraying himself as a total attention whore, I can appreciate that he has an important decision to make from his perspective but when you leave fans dangling for days on end it will start to feck them off big time.

Do we like Lille?
I remember them walking off after Giggs scored that freekick.. that was silly.

Of course he's genuinely undecided, there are so many factors to take into account. He's got a young child and a wife to heed to as well as his professional career

I remember watching an interview of him two years ago where he said he'd love to play everywhere in Europe if he could, Spain for the technical side of things, England for the pitches, Turkey for the atmosphere.

It's not a case of him deliberately making some fans from the North East of England wait for his decision, FFS we're still mid-May when he could wait until the end of August if he wanted to.

Time for some to look for more serious occupations than transfer muppetry

iqy

It makes me laugh when people say "oh he's probably been guaranteed a first team place
What do you expect any manager to say ,oh you might not get to play every match ,bollocks any manager will say."you're the first name on my team sheet if you sign "

Or c: He will sign for City and they want to make a big deal out of him choosing them over us...

I doubt many managers would promise that, especially at big clubs. No point getting the player based on false promises.

All these cryptic clues have been so annoying. Why not just keep your fecking mouth shut until such times?

He's created this whole frenzy around him, but he's only making his mind up what team to play for next season, just get fecking on with it.

You seriously think a plain full of random English people would recognise a Japanese footballer out of context, wearing normal clothes?

I'm an avid Manchester United fan and I reckon I'd struggle to pick him out of a line-up. Absolutely no chance if I wasn't primed to expect him.

And no, that's not racist.

Dunno, Pogue. Sounds very like 'they all look the same to me' to me.

Would you say the same if he was a white anglo-saxon protestant? Ask yourself that!

tbf, if you think he makes no sense for us, he kind of makes even less sense for City considering they already have two inside playmakers in Silva and Nasri....it's obvious they are happy with playing 2 forwards considering how hard they are going after RVP too.

He'll be in a bigger rotation there than he would with us considering we are looking to move away from a constant 2 man forward by having just 3 experienced forwards by the looks of things. So maybe he's figured that out, I dunno, who cares about not playing when you $$$$$$$$$ing it in.

I'd probably be the same as Pogue with Hazard and I currently know that lads face very well.

Rumoured that Hazard will be doing a round of Charades, live at half-time; so we'll know if he's coming here when we guess the fourth syllable.

Not at that time.We never knew Ronaldo would even improve as a football. In the context of the sale, it was a great coup for United

I remember thinking at the time anything less than £100m would be a steal for Madrid, I think he's pretty much matched that valuation.

I don't know, I just remember many caftard thinking the fee was fecking huge as most football fans around the world.Players should never cost that much, it's a bit ridiculous

Unlike City, I think Chelsea have hopes of meeting the FFP standards - if they're given generous leeway. More big transfer fees and big wage obligations will make an already difficult task impossible.

Sorry my bad for the confusion, I meant we didn't know if he was going to perform for Real Madrid even better than for United. At United he was fantastic, I never thought he was gonna be that much better at Madrid

Agreed, I thought the exact same thing. It's not just about the football, but also his marketability - IMO Ronaldo is second only to David Beckham in that department.

True. however, media whoring pays well in today's world of football dominated by the media. It increases the popularity of a player which would then be translated in a bigger pay cheque.
