There not going to give him £200k a week. Don't know why people think Ambrovich is still spending crazy money when that clearly stopped 2-3 years ago.
?
50m Torres
23m Luiz
18m Lukaku
13m AvB
8m to get rid of AvB
8m for a kid keeper
25m for Mata
and a few other ~5-10m players

All that in 2011.

How much would you have paid for Torres? He was the best striker in the world (arguable) and Ronaldo the season before that went for £80m.. Do the math.

Mata cost in region what he is worth. We spunk 18m on Ashley Young who had 1 year left on his contract...

So tell me where the ridiculous spending was? To many they spent nothing different to what another club what have had to pay. Which is my whole point.

Hmmmmm

75m on Luiz and Torres in a January window disagrees with you. It would be a classic Chelsea move, pay this young player insane money and worry about the implications later.

That said, we slate the way in which Chelsea operate but they have had a lot of success in the past five years.

I'll say it again. Ashley Young- Phil Jones. We spend the same amount of money.

When they give a holding midfield £250k a week and a Standard striker £175k a week (Adeybayor) then you might have an argument.

Nice backtracking!

Who is it backtracking? My 1st point is stating that 200k a week will not happen at Chelsea. I will easily beat on it and no fool in here will take me up on my offer.

£50m on a striker to me is not crazy money considering who it was and what the current market value was.

Chelsea haven't stopped the mad spending - it simply doesn't feel like it since City took mad spending to a new level!

The fact is that Chelseas managers compensation costs probably is worse than our net spending

Hazard would be nice but 200k and 30+million i think kagawa would be the better option for us right now.

we have 3 strong wingers in nani, young and valencia, but we do need central options strengthening.

Anyway i guess we will see what happens; would certainly be a big huge lovely suprise if we do sign him, but wont be to annoyed if we dont.

I hope the Chelsea interest is a media fabrication.

If not, it wouldn't be too surprising if he went to them. They can now offer CL football, sky-high wages (if the news stories are to be believed), and most importantly, because of their crap team, better chances than us or City of first team football. It could be an attractive package.

Getting to thinking leave this guy alone, get Kagawa in as an attacking mid, use the money that we would spend on Hazard on a solid CM like Strootman and a good fullback.

We need a marque signing in all honesty and the CM there is no one around worth a big flutter. We can still get a Hazard and Kagawa plus spend the left over change on a guy like Strootman (Is he even that good?). Getting just Strootman and Kagawa wouldn't really give us the lift we need for the new season.

Is he definitely announcing who he is joining at the end of their game or is that only a rumour?

If the rumour is true or not, if football is starting to hand out £200K+ wages to 21 year olds its broken.

I know what you are saying bud, but I do not think it is the transfer money we lack, it would be the wages. How about Martinez as the marque signing instead, use the wages for him, more needed imho?

Why do we need a marque signing? You make it sound like we should spend for the sake of it.

What we need is to improve. Whether that is by signing unknown youngsters that become world beater or whatever. I don't care if he's a fantasy signing for the muppets or a big name already.

Andy Mitten now tweeting that he spoke with a lot of Lille people at the club this week and they're certain he's en route to City with City agreeing a friendly at their stadium in return

No you make it sound like we need to spend for the sake of it. The word marque in essence means a quality player. It's not my fault that generally good players cost money. It's just how it is. If he's cheap then fare enough but the likely-hood of it, they wont be.

Everyone I spoke to at Lille last week thinks Hazard is going to MCFC, with blues playing a friendly to open Lille's new stadium.

He's about as connected as a kibbutz.

Huh? You're the one saying we need to make a 'big flutter'. Why do we need to spend big? What if there are quality unknowns out there, should we ignore them because Mainoldo from the internet doesnt know them?

Even though CM is our weakness you still think we should spend big even if not on a CM. We're not that desperate in other positions. For the record, I wouldn't mind if we didn't sign anyone.

Well it is nice to know we've got the money to have a bid accepted. He is City bound and a big deal will be made of it.

While Julian Lauren's tweeting that City and ourselves have both agreed fees and it's upto the player

Yes but that's not in anyway even remotely official. Anything that appears on twitter seems to be treated as 'seems legit' on here.

Good players cost big money.. Whats wrong with you?! It's not hard to understand. Who are these quality unknowns?!! Name them... If you know your football most players United are after we already know about, United aren't going to shock us and get some kid in AC Milan's reseverse for instance that turns out as good as Patrick Vieira.

How can I name them if they're unknowns? Our history is littered with examples of these players coming in. Players like Hernandez and Bebe were pretty unknown. Others such as Lindegaard, Smalling etc. were players that most of our supprters didn't know a lot about.

To people like you, signing players is like a cock measuring contest that you can have with your mates. The more they cost, the better.

What a load of bullshit.. Either way not one of the players you have mentioned are of that next caliber which i feel we need for next season.

That's whole point of the transfer forum to discuss future targets who we are interested in and possible players people think would benefit United. If it was to discuss 'unknown' so much that no body know's who they are.. this place wouldn't get very far would it. Come back to me when you have players you feel we are better place spending our money (Doesn't have to be expensive or cost loads in wages...) on who can actually improve or team and more importantly first 11, because no one has heard of 'Unknown'.

Listen, you are the one that said we need to have a 'big flutter' on a 'marque signing'. To be honest, I couldn't care less about what you 'feel we need for next season'. I shouldn't have to explain that we buy players that we can develop ourselves as Fergie said it himself only a couple of weeks ago.

I'm not denying that we need quality players, because you have to be quality to come here. I can't agree that we need to spend big though. If we find the right players, and they're cheap, then that is even better. It's about signing the right players, not big names.

Read on another forum a guy has claimed Hazard will be signing for Chelsea,he is well connected and has never been wrong in the past.Take it with a pinch of salt.

Maybe he'll play one half each for City & Chelsea.

Here, here, and lets face it Moura is the right player.

I think a lot of you would be less anxious if you didn't visit this thread more than once a day.

Ridiculous for people to invest hope in this deal happening. We'll never beat City or Chelsea in this race. They both pay more and they have both just won big trophies. We can't compete with that, sadly.
