Eden Hazard | "I am signing for Chelsea"

If anyone thinks this is still in the balance you are seriously deluded. The deal was struck a while ago. The fact Hazard said he will definitely be playing in Manchester is not a flirtatious punt to try to have a bidding war, it is a statement of fact, I have signed for Manchester City but cannot say so until the league is over, for obvious reasons.

It is also bloody obvious that we are not in for a left wing player as we have only just bought Young. Yes, I know Hazard has played centrally on a few occasions and less so on the right wing but his best position is as a left sided winger/forward, which we simply do not need.

I hope we can hear something from the wunderkid tonight, so that we can at least lock this thread and move on to areas of improvement that are a little more relevant. Kagawa/Modric being the two players that, it would seem, fit the bill perfectly.

If the deal was already done to City they would be singing it from the roof tops already. I highly doubt a deal is done but if he has signed for a club and it is being kept under wraps, it's more likely to be United as that is how we do our business. If it is with us it's a damn sight less than £200k a week.

We could afford £150k and signing for United is a bigger draw than some of you seem to believe.

If we have signed him though, I think it'd be with Nani leaving this summer.

His last game for Lille is tonight so we should know in the next couple of weeks but my money is on him signning for City.

Ridiculous for people to invest hope in this deal happening. We'll never beat City or Chelsea in this race. They both pay more and they have both just won big trophies. We can't compete with that, sadly.

It would be quite sad to think players see things in such a temporary way. We've won nothing this season sure, but were not far away. Our form season on season is muc better than either of those clubs and in Europe this season was a rare failure. History should tell anybody that we are just as likely to win anything next season as either City or Chelsea and that of he three sides we have the most solid foundations.

He's coming here everyone, rejoice.

He can't be signing for us. When have we ever done business in such an unprofessional manner as this? Having our target tell everyone he will reveal his next destination after a game, playing supporters along to build up massive media coverage. This has City or Chelsea all over it.

Agreed, if he had signed for us he would have been told to keep his mouth shut until the club was ready to reveal him as a signing. He certainly would not be allowed to announce the deal himself after the last game.

He may not have decided yet. And given that he's a transformational player, we would not care what he says, as long as he signs. This isn't Smalling, Jones, or Hernandez were talking about. Standard rules don't apply.

Dimitar Berbatov.

I think he'll join Chelsea because London is a better place to raise his kid, plus it's closer to Lille & Belgium

Are we still talking about Eden Hazard or is it Lionel Messi we're discussing?

The Hazard worship here is disturbing, he did some good stuff for Lille but he's treated like he's the Messiah.

I'd be inclined to agree with you, except I don't even think Chelsea has ever been that small time. It has City written all over it.

"Coming to Manchester..." - it will, in the eyes of their supporters be another player "who chose them over us" ala Tevez.

I'd love to be wrong and have Hazard sign for us, but when have we ever been so small time and (bordering) unprofessional wrt a signing? I can't believe SAF or Gill would have been to happy with Hazard's flirtation over the last month or so.

At the end of the day, it's football - bloody hell. You never know, but I'd be (admittedly pleasantly) surprised if he were to announce that he signed for us. (i'm clinging to hope that we're giving City a taste of their own medicine, but I highly, highly doubt that to be the case).

My god your right. He's the new One!

I didn't see Messi brought up until you did. Its a simple supply and demand issue.

Chelsea makes the most sense for him, I think.*

✓ Opportunities to play
✓ Exorbitant wages
✓ Attraction due to recent success
Londres

*I don't really care, I just wanted to use that ✓ symbol.

Well we are not in desperate need of a wide attacker so I don't see why "standard rules don't apply".

I havent see much of him. Can he play a central role? If he cant I just dont see us buying him.

Why are we hearing of him signing for Chelsea? He said himself that he will be playing in Manchester, links to him and Chelsea was inevitable after their CL win, but IMO he made his decision before then.

We're in need of whoever Fergie decides to buy. If its a player with world beater potential, then so be it.

This.

I'm not saying Hazard isn't good. Quite the opposite. He's a fantastic player. But he's not a magic bullet.

Is he trying to be like Ronaldo with Themis cryptic stuff and making people wait?

Chief executive David Gill has sent a message to Eden Hazard and other United targets about the benefits of choosing red over blue.

Gill says the commercial benefits and the 'Old Trafford factor' can tilt potential signings United's way in spite of Manchester City's undoubted spending power.

The United official remains defiant that the club will continue to attract top talent as Belgian winger Eden Hazard continues to tease supporters of both Manchester clubs as to his next destination - which could be revealed next week.

Gill said: "It depends a bit on the player and his advisers and agent. If that player says 'It will just come down to a money thing' then they may out-muscle us. But that's their choice, we still pay very good salaries.

"Whilst other clubs may pay slightly more, we pay very good salaries and I think a player coming to Manchester United has the benefit of playing in front of 76,000 every week.

"We have our history and heritage, the commercial spin-offs if they want to choose to go down that route as well then they are probably better at Manchester United than other clubs arguably anyway."

Gill cites manager Sir Alex Ferguson as a trump card in United's hand with City boss Roberto Mancini's reputation outside the Etihad Stadium thought to be debatable, according to some top players.

"We shouldn't be shy or embarrassed or worried about not being able to attract top players because I firmly believe we can. With Alex and what we offer as a club many people want to come and play for us."
