He looked really good when he came on, if we didn't have a defender who knew him inside out he would have probably scored.

Such a shame that flick didn't go in. Would have been one of the best debuts ever in football. I am desperate for things to go well for him I'm a big fan and wanted us to sign him when he was at Napoli. I hope he can stay fit and become a regular starter.

Did well when he was on the pitch. Look like he has his sharpness about him and natural strikers movement. We need to accommodate that instead of moving away from his strengths. He offers something different from our other strikers.

He was faster than I expected for a 33 year old with an injury record. Bodes well if not a one off

Really? I thought he was quick moving around outside the box, pressing well

He touched the ball 7 times in just over 30 minutes. 2 of those were shots and one was a pass which was unsuccessful .... He got around a bit but really wasn't offering anything at all.

It'll come with game time, but yeah, can definitely see why he's not been in contention before a sub appearance.

33 and hasnt played since March. He exceeded my expectations tbh. But for a fabulous block from Silva he'd have scored.

Same here, looked much further along fitness wise than I thought he’d be. Promising signs

Keep in mind the guys weren’t playing to his strengths yet. Only late on did the penny seem to drop.
that one time were Rashford was free on the left and tried to shoot. If he’d squared it Cavani May have been in. But they will learn to play together. like I said, promising signs

Hopefully he can get on the end of some crosses and passes in future games. He's good movement but looks way off the pace in general play.

He’s a much more instinctive goal scorer than anyone else we have. If today was a small glimpse of how he’ll be for us then I’m optimistic.

As expected his legs can't entrely keep up with his brillaint football brain. If Ole can squeeze out one or two best years out of this grandpa we'll be deadly.

I hope he’s ready to start against Arsenal.

He's a going to score goals but it's clear he's not going to contribute a great deal to our overall build up of play.

But that doesn't bother me as we've needed an instinctive goalscorer for ages and he's perfect for it.

Was Telles injured? I see no reason to play Cavani without a player who creates chances from him out wide

Every top team needs a top central striker who is in his prime and that's where you blow your budget/break your transfer record. While I like Cavani he's just another example of the old crock strikers that Woody will only entertain purchasing.

His movements were superb, excellent runs and always looking to get on the end of balls into the box.
Plus he looks like a Greek(Uruguayan) god in the United shirt,

He needs players that can provide him quality service! That isn’t going to happen playing Dan James. Greenwood is capable of providing decent crosses so hope they gain a good understanding
There’s plenty of other threads to shit on James, no need to add more. They were never on the pitch together.

He was a bit quiet in terms of touches but give Chelsea some credit there, they defended very well. I’m looking forward to see him play a few more games for us and signs from today he will be useful to have in the squad.

He won't be against Thiago Silva every week. The state of defenders in England right now if he started the majority of the games he'd score 20 goals like he use to do in France/ Italy

You give him chances and he'll score. We've got no wide players, however. We basically only have "mate, Bruno what you got today? You doin the lot again? Aight thanks mate".. what a mess.

Reminded me or chicha in the way he makes a run, doesn't get the ball, then moves before making a run again

Funnily enough Neville said it on commentary but when he put in the cross we needed him on the end of it with a near post run

Hopefully our younger guys can learn from him on that

I think the main thing today is that he absolutely did not look like someone who's here for a payday. He's still hungry and will be pushing for a place in the team.

Said it in the match thread but Im going full Rawk on this one- will have a RvP-esque impact on the team. Its been a while since we ve had a CF who can create space without the ball. Impressive cameo considering it's been ages since he played competitively. Shows he def has been working on his cardio during the downtime. VDB and Telles should have fun with him on the pitch.

If they ever get on it

Isnt he only a year older than lewandowski?
A year too much for me, personally. Recently we always tend to sign these legendary strikers like Larsson or Zlatan when they're starting to think about States, China or other ways to lay low at the ending part of their career.

Not really sure how many years Lewy got in him on his usual level, same with Edinson, but for me it's sad to see all these legends in their age of decline in a United shirt. Should be the other way around, but I'm also aware we need some experience too, so glad he's here. If he won't help Ole's tactic, the chances are he'll help Greenwood to take the pressure off him.

That first touch he had from the corner, that heel kick that went just a little bit wide, thats the kind of class, along with movement that tells you all about him.
Really, Rashford, Greenwood and Martial should be around him all the time and just observe, listen and learn.
