England player and another Premier League star set to come out as gay

Should be a non-discussion. Makes literally no difference.

I often thought this, but when it's still the case that almost no footballers ever seem to come out, it's inevitably going to be news, especially when a player coming out has presumably felt the need to hide it up until now.

It can also only be positive if it potentially helps those struggling with such a decision seeing major football names willing to make an announcement and be comfortable with who they are.

Indeed, it is a positive thing that he feels comfortable enough to come out if he does, but it still sad it has to be done.

True. Although I imagine that as football becomes more accepting, it'll fortunately eventually becoming something that is seen as standard, and doesn't have to be overly newsworthy. Will still be a good while before that's the case, though.

Like it or not being gay is not "normal" in the same way that having one arm or one testicle is not normal, because the majority of people are straight, have two arms, and the vast majority of men have two testicles.

However, just because it's not the norm doesn't make it a bad thing. If two consenting male adults wish to bugger each other in the privacy of their own home, why should I care? It's not like I'm required to join in.

Therefore I don't see this story as particularly ground breaking or even news.

That said, I do find flamboyant gays particularly irritating. You know, the type who behave as though their sexuality makes them a form of male female hybrid with an effeminate voice and desire to look and behave as gay as possible often combined with weird colourful hairstyles. Those gays can do one.

A gay friend of mine told me that the latter is what faggots are, and that he was gay, but definitely not a faggot. Suffice it to say, he was just as irritated by them as I was

I shower a few times each year in a communal shower at a festival. Both men and women there (all young and healthy too), some of the men are probably gay, big deal. I like to believe I have the decency to not look at the chicks, the same way I'm not looking at anyone in particular when I'm in a men's changing room. Obviously you'll see a pair of tits or an arse but if you ogle it's your own choice and you're a cnut.

If they are a nice pair and you don't ogle (or at least have a good look) then you probably have a testosterone deficiency or some unhealthy psychological issues.

Likewise for gay men and cocks.

Or, you know, an ounce of self-control.

Or decency.

Is there a date when they're coming out, or have they decided to stay in?

It's Vinnie Jones and Neil Ruddock got it on good authority

Jones has always said there was nothing to this, just laddy banter between straight pals.

Justin's story is so bloody sad. I really hope those players coming out have good family and friends to support them.

On another note - the Daily Fail just had to mention that Luke Shaw denied it was him:rolleyes:

You can't really blame the Mail for mentioning it. It was more stupid how Shaw said it than anything.
