Fantastic. One/both of you will leave points in that match then. If we get a point against you and win against either Serbia or Armenia, I guess that we'll qualify. I am assuming that you'll defeat Denmark in home.

Heh yeah well with the current state of our national team, you better not assume anything

EDIT: Oops, wrong quoted post. For @Godfather meant.

Oh, indeed, but you guys aren't as unfamiliar to big competitions like those others are. Though, was surprised to see that Northern Ireland actually competed on three world cups.

They have ommited it because it's very unlikey/impossible considering Albania and Hungary are on 11 and Norway on 10. They all have to lose the rest of their matches, 3 in Albania's case and 2 for both Norway and Hungary while Ireland win 2 of their last 3 which is a very unlikely scenario and even then teams like Ukraine have 4 more games and winning 2 can land them on 12 with the liklier better goal difference.

Or they can just win one and pass Denmark. Then Denmark will have to lose both, one against Portugal.

Also we (Norway) will most likely lose both our games (Croatia and Italy).

Hungary's group will probably take the best 3rd trophy.

Players at Aberdeen and Hearts must be wondering how they'll get into the squad. Absolutely mental how someone like Shinnie who was the best full back in the country last year, and been very good at full back and in central midfield since joining Aberdeen can't make it into the squad. Only 5 players based in Scotland in the squad and none outside Celtic is poor and there is a lot of talented players who would offer more than the Championship clowns in the team.
The really ugly truth is that we have very few really talented players and that Strachan has somehow got us to punch above our ability. Our players technical abilities and skill levels just simply arent very good. We wont qualify for a major tournament again until the numbers of teams in tournaments increases, which isnt too far off.
However the worst thing is that Scotland fans dont seem to understand just how far behind we have fallen in terms of true talent.

Why are you guys discussing third place? You can surely go for first or second. I sincerily doubt we will win at Albania. I think we may lose. I mean we have no midfield at the moment. Tiago, Moutinho and William Carvalho all out. Combine with the fact that our full backs aren´t in the best form and that our attack hasn´t been that impressive. Only if Ronaldo pulls another special like he did at Armenia away, i see any possibility of pulling a win.

I'm already considering the Portugal game a loss to be honest and am only considering 3 points v Armenia and 1 vs Serbia. Anything more than that will be a bonus and guarantee us qualification.

We've never had problems from Ronaldo (touch wood) so we will do alright containing him I think however your team is quite strong physically too and we had a hard fought game against Denmark so will be drained. I don't exclude that all 3 results are possibly Monday night though!

This is why I have been saying 4 points will do it all this time

Of course you didn´t have problems with Ronaldo, he didn´t play in the first game. He was injured. The biggest problem is that we are missing the first 3 center midfield choices. Two injured (Moutinho and Carvalho) and other suspended (Tiago). And that is nevralgic in our team setup.

Hehe you forget the 0-0 match few years ago or the last minute 2-1 win in Albania :)

Good thing about Portugal is that you seem to be letting in quite a few goals and that might work in our favour considering our defence has been quite watertight recently.

Cue 5-0 loss with Ronaldo getting all 5

Is England showing on TV later?

Yea that group does seem the likely one for a 3rd place qualification but maybe only on goal difference I would say as 15 points is what I think the top placed 3rd team will need, and we are capable of achiveing that and so are some others!

We were in the same group for WC2010, and Ronaldo was annonymous in both matches.

That's an extremely tiny sample tho for any conclusions.

Heh you guys remember everything. I can´t even remember what i had for lunch two days ago. Fair play, i can´t recall those games but those scores don´t surprise me when Queiroz was in charge.

3 matches, 0 goals, 0 assists and completely annonymous in all three matches.

It isn't a big sample, obviously, but you rarely have bigger samples in international football.

Am going to our game against Moldova tonight, three points and no Sweden loss in Russia and we're qualified. A couple of wins tonight and then against Liechenstein and we top our group. Happy days! Can't wait for the tournament next year, we're gonna be in awesome shape. Koller has done wonders...

What 3 games? It´s two games. I actually was researching game reports and in the portuguese media they said Deco and Ronaldo were the best. Just because he didn´t score or assisted doesn´t mean he was anonymous. He wasn´t world class but good enough. To be fair it´s difficult to motivate players against Albania, no disrespect. It´s the portuguese way of complicating the supposed easy games and then taking the difficult ones seriously.

And just how great is to have six days of international football in a row? These breaks are much more easier to endure with this new(ish) system.

So England have qualified for the Euro's! I guess I'll see the Cafe Welshmen and Irishmen in France next year, lads.

For y'all Scottish Caftards, you wouldn't mind watering our plants and feeding our pets next summer, would you? Ta.

Kick us while we are down you bastard.....

When was the last time three UK teams played in the same tournament? Mexico 1986?

Shame we couldn't get the full set.

With Macedonia falling to last place Ukraine takes the lead in the best 3rd place ranked team on 12 points. They need a win against Spain or Slovakia to seal it as their +8 goal difference will be tough to match!

De Gea doesn't have a chance in the Euro.I see it like some kind of international farewell for Iker.Del Bosque continued to renew the squad but he is too loyal to the players and didn't accept well the negative comments after Brazil. Now Villar offered him to continue until Rusia 2018 but hopefully he will retire before.I wonder who will be the next coach

Nice dive. Costa being Costa.

There's a difference between not selecting a player of De Gea's experience when he isn't playing and selecting a figure like Casillas in the same situation.
But Casillas perfomances didnt even warrant selection for the National team..dont you think thats verging on sentimentality? And it cost Spain dearly at the world cup too..Surely the chance to win the world cup for your country should come above previous relationships and perfomances.

I cant see him retiring after the Euros unless he has a terrible tournament. He didnt want to leave Madrid either, I doubt he will want to give up the Spain spot, especially to the guy who in his mind is possibly the reason why he lost his Madrid career in the first place.

I think thats one reason DDG wants to play for Madrid so badly, if he does well in Spain, it will be almost impossible for the coach to ignore him..due to public pressure and the pull that Madrid have.

Agreed,he could have gone to MLS but wants to continue in Europe, maybe thinking in Buffon example

The refs in our game are a fecking joke. We are getting absolutely robbed here. Clear goal being disallowed, fouls not given. What a joke
