Europa League 2015/2016

As have loads of United fans whose bigger picture has been undermined by the underwhelming record of the current management.

and yet the hideously underwhelming current management has garnered more points than the glorious era of Jurgen Klopp(After Klopp was appointed). Says a lot about your bigger picture.

Yep. Extremely good point. Could you caveat that with money spent since they both started? Or is it just about glib point scoring here?

The talk was about how Liverpool has improved under Klopp right now. I expect a lot of teams to improve next summer after spending money. Hell we've improved after the Moyes era, but that wasn't the original argument.

Indeed, the original argument was that past posts can prove you wrong - whatever team one supports. Rogers ultimately went wrong; LVG has been a disappointment in relation to the initial expectations. I don't think anyone would question that.

Absolutely no doubt.

Origi`s missed Chance might come back haunting Liverpool in the return leg. Beside that very solid Performance I have to admit.

I have expected more from Dortmund. Especially Reus seems far from his best.

Is it just me that thought that was a really weird game of Football last night? The amount of times I looked at the pitch and you could throw a blanket over about 15 player's was insane. It was like a Primary School game of Football where everyone runs towards the ball at once. I guess with two "pressing" styles coming together you end up with a load of player's from one team pressing, then gaining position, a load of player's from the opposition pressing, the first team then losing possession, so then counter-pressing, which caused more and more player's to be sucked into a vortex of pressing.

On a couple of occasions I thought if a few player's on one side kept their shape a bit better, combined with one of their teammates wriggling out of the aforementioned cluster-feck with the ball; you'd have a situation whereby one good pass would create a relatively simple chance.

I thought that many of Dortmund´s key players played fairly badly (exceptions: Hummels, Weigl, Weidenfeller) and the result was, that their passing suffered a lot. They missed Gündogan who is able to bring the ball forward under pressure. Castro was fairly terrible; when Sahin came in to support the midfield, Dortmund got a lot better.
Credits to Liverpool, who played well. Those are the kind of games, where Klopp´s tactics are effective. Origi was pretty good; he bullied Bender quite a bit, who really struggled to win the ball against him.

That's deliberate to some extent. It's about making the pitch smaller in order to make the press achievable. I've read that you try to operate in 20 square yard areas - launching the press strategically means a set of players occupy this small space, giving an opponent nowhere to go. It can look hectic but that's the point; decision making becomes rushed.

That makes sense. I just thought that one moment of great skill could have meant either side were totally open on numerous occasions. Usually you get one team pressing and one team trying to deal with the pressure and catch the team out of position (as pressing has a degree of chaos attached to it).

With two teams pressing the turnover of possession was unbelievable, which in turn dragged more and more people into a smaller and smaller area. I really felt that if someone with a bit of quality and intelligence lifted their head off the floor for 2 seconds they'd have been able to cut open either team with relative ease. Obviously easier said that done when several players are sprinting towards you.

Liverpool could very well win this whole thing. Sevilla are the only team who can stop them should they progress.

Yeah, I guess that's the potential flaw in the system - absorb the press and counter quickly when you can.

Yup. That's why it's hilarious for someone like Rafateria to berate someone for not looking at the big picture when he's been proven wrong many times before.
And you haven't ? Glass houses and all that. Whatever mistakes history says I made doesn't mean I'm mistaken this time.

Of course you wouldn't ;) Every single one of those bookies however have a slightly different perspective.

Do non-English bookies share that opinion? I'm surprised Sevilla aren't favourites given their pedigree.

bookies don´t just consider the strength of each team when they come up with the odds. My guess is, that significant more people bet on Liverpool (out of sympathy), so the odds shift in their favour.
Both Sevilla and Villarreal are stronger teams at the moment. They are not huge favourites against you, but favourites none the less.

I'd have Liverpool as favourites to win it now. Dortmund away was as difficult a match as was left in the competition and they came through it no problem. This season under LVG just goes from bad to worse.

Check the link I gave mate. Sevilla are 2nd favourites after Dortmund. We were discussing Villareal or Liverpool as 3rd favourites.

Bit surprised that Dortmund are favourites to qualify after the first leg. Perfect opportunity to throw some money at a jinx bet on Liverpool!

Can't you go the other way and heavily back Dortmund?

Origi lone striker again, Firmino starts. Very happy with the line-up.

The whole justice for the 96 thing just seems so random to me. Dont get me wrong they should always be remembered and never forgotten but these Dortmund tributes just seem as if they're trying too hard.

Fingers crossed for a Dortmund win....Kagawa scoring the winner even better...

Gotta feeling Liverpool will go through.

A horrible, filthy feeling.
