Everton vs. Man United

Wow,must be watching a different game. Rooney is the one that's not making the runs. He is playing too deep and taking up the position of Kagawa and Mata.

Hernandez for Nani, move Rooney out to the side would help, in my opinion. Fletch needs to play like he did when he was younger. He and Carrick far too conservative in their passing. No penetration at all. Take a shot, also.

Is this the last straw? Please God.

Any other club he wouldn't be leading the side out for the second half.

Woodward will probably be sat there with ink still wet on a 5 year contract extension for him.

Fletcher - Carrick are offering nothing going forward and they still manage to get caught out on the break. Seems like a concentrated effort to take up the most useless positions on the pitch.

Clear lack of penetration once again. I wonder what Moyes does on the training pitch, because it doesn't look like we work on getting midfield runners beyond the front man or getting anything in behind the defence. We're compensating for this by throwing our FBs far up the pitch and being vulnerable on the counter

Smalling is an awful RB, and to top it off, Jones who is playing ahead of him in the centre gave away a ridiculous penalty. Why play Smalling there when Jones has played well there recently? Another one of those incomprehensible decisions that Moyes makes.

Rooney has been awful, as you'd expect coming back from injury and against Everton. He's not making any effort to get in behind and his decision making has been awful. We need Welbeck in there, maybe on for Kagawa on the left initially (some pace to track back with Coleman too) and then going up top with Mata on the left.

I can see Moyes default substitution being Hernandez for Fletcher with Rooney going into CM.

Mata and Kagawa work with a striker like Hernandez running in behind creating space. When Rooney plays and drop deep, there is literally no movement up front..
That's the whole point, some posters were praising the first 20 minutes because we were basically tossing ourselves off in meaningless areas. Having skilful creative players helps you move it quicker because they have the technique to do that, it's completely pointless them being so laboured in possession while their use is lessened even more by having an unfit/out of form striker not making threatening runs and by the wide areas they vacate being covered by full backs who are our 2 least talented players.

Did Moyes say that we have an outside chance of getting 4th even though the Arsenal result today went against us?!

Bearing in mind he was still talking about the title in January, every chance!

I think a loss today 100% rules it out though.

F'ck me, 34 games played and no chance of top 4!!!

I think Moyes will still be safe despite this result. We knew that we are missing out on CL football and Europa doesn't mean anything. Sacking a manager for one result isn't the Manchester United way. At least he is trying to win a CL spot until it is mathematically impossible (may be even after that, give his condition).

was watching some of the goals scored by Ronaldo the other day...but what caught my eye...was Roy Keane winning the ball and setting Ronaldo going.....that said it all for me. Yes Moyes has to be blamed for not addressing this in the summer...but Fergie should have addressed our shortcomings in midfield.

Is it true that we have just 10(13?) points vs teams in the top half of the table all season?

It's insane. We gave Bayern a decent run for their money for most of the quarter final ties, but we fail to create chances against Everton and look shambolic in defence.

I'm at a loss... could it be that the players are totally deflated in the league when the going gets tough, with nothing to play for, whereas in the ECL we felt there was a chance for some glory and thus they tried their hearts out?

At any rate, this is depressing :\

We aren't doing fecking SHIT at all. No point suggesting who to bring on who to take off, we have fecking lost this game and its not only to do with individuals but the team as a whole under Moyes

Sir Alex was right about Rooney all along.

He's selfish, and only cares about himself. The rest of the team mean nothing to him. He's constantly been trying to pull off the audacious this game to show everyone what a great player he is, ironically what he used to berate Nani publicly about. And surprisingly, Nani has been much more of a team player than him today (although still very rusty).

I'm really, really disappointed in him since he signed the contract.

Specifically today, we've been bullied off the pitch. No fight in us.

We need Januzaj and Welbeck/ Hernandez on for Rooney and Nani.

Nothing is better than counter attacking football(in my opinion),. This tiki taka bullshit is not us,

The funny thing is that we are not even surprised to be 2-0 down,it is just expected from a David Moyes side against the big boys. How long will this go on for?DM is out of his depth here and he has no help from his staff whatsoever. We would probably end up losing 4-0.

Also we need to tell mata/nani/Rooney/kagawa to have a go now and then and shoot around the box. We're trying to pass through them too much. I like the possession but the players don't know when to stop and have a go.

Rooney off please. Just awful movement from someone who wants to be our main striker. We already have Kagawa and Mata to play in those areas.

Rooney

Why play Smalling at RB and Jones at CB?

Come on Moyes you're not helping me as a Moyes agnostic here.

How have we been so inept up front? We had so much possession but haven't once looked like creating something, just a load of aimless passing. They are basically playing the exact opposite of us and I think it shows the different in confidence between the two teams. They've not been afraid to get forward quickly and create things, but we've been slow in the build-up and look more afraid of losing the ball than creating something.

Don't be an WUM, we all know his isn't great at marking. But he did the job for us against Munich. Not sure how great Evra would have been in a similar situation

Im not being a WUM FFS. Buttner is a terrible marker and I said it in the lead up to the Munich game. The stay back defend and smash the ball tactics helped him out then. Push him forward and you see his real weaknesses, poor positional sense, poor marking, zero understanding of the offside rule

We must be the easiest team in the league to pay against as regards pressure on the ball, we just sit off when teams have it and it allows them to keep their shape with ease. Passing it around in midfield with no end game has pretty much been all we have done in the fist half, Everton well deserving of their 2 goal lead.

I'm surprised Rooney didnt take the chance to have a couple of shots. The final efforts on goal is what we are missing and usually Rooney doesnt let a chance pass him by to get an effort on goal

Carragher is rubbing it in now :(
