Neither have a bit of pace to them; neither are 100% comfortable being given the ball under pressure due to not being able to go past a man; Only Fletcher moves at all with the ball, and even then it's at a snail's pace; The only one-touch stuff they feel comfortable playing is sideways.
Carrick in particular is selective in when he shows for the ball, because he doesn't always feel comfortable under pressure.
Contrast that to Scholes. Never did Scholes shy away from the ball, his one-touch stuff was always forward thinking, he could beat a man.
Whereas this just slows the whole team down.
All of our midfielders need three touches (and space that you don't get in the PL) to get the ball forward. Plus Neither can commit forward properly, in fear of being killed for pace going backwards.
Add even someone like Aaron Ramsey today, and the side functions so much better.
Hope the board doesn't get hasty and sack Moyes. We need to stick with him.

when Keane was not playing....it felt like half the team was gone. Arsenal had greater possession but we totally controlled that game...and won. Everton have controlled the game today.
