Everton vs Manchester United

Welbeck is a class act.

When he drives forward he can take 2 or 3 players out of the game with his pace and strength but then seems to inevitable be brought down himself, he's going to be fecking sensational though.

the baines free-kick nobody jumped into wall, thats crazy.

You've changed your tune. I thought the return of Cleverley had made us amazing again?

Going forward we look very slick. They've still managed 6 shots on target though but we already knew that we've been playing very open throughout the season, even when Cleverley was playing.

Cleverley undoubtably makes things tick for us going forward though.

Pleased with a few things:
1) The first half hour, in which I thought we both defended and attacked very well
2) Rooney and Hernandez look sparky and every time they get the ball around them in the Everton half, something looks like it will happen
3) Evra's been much better of late and his crosses are actually beating the first man today
4) de Gea extremely competent handling so far

Would like to see Nani and/or Valencia thrown on to really test and stretch Hibbert and Baines after the hour mark.

I think we'll come out much better in the second half. With the way we were playing, I wasn't sure if we'd be able to keep it up for 45 minutes. Everton were going to get into the game at some stage being at home. Thankfully we got to halftime unscathed so I think we'll be okay from here.

I dont understand what people were expecting
Everton are a good side and are at home.
We have done well.
dropped a bit after the goal, but its just HT.
I expect us to be better in the second half after Fergie does his bit.

No one has been poor.
Some great passing moves and keep ball.

everton ended the half more shots than us. big concern.

The formation, thank God, is not a rigid 4-4-2. Rooney and Cleverley looked good together just ahead of Fletcher and Welbeck is class as a wide forward.

But as usual, the defence isn't doing its job properly and Fletcher isn't good enough to be a midfield screener behind two advanced midfielders. And of course as soon as Everton upped the tempo we started rushing everything, punting the ball upfield - all the usual symptoms of Manchester United playing away from home.

Hopefully we'll steady the ship during the interval because some of the passing has been very good, there was some imagination in our football at last, even if the execution was sometimes lacking.

Good game. We lost our rhythm a bit in the last ten minutes but Everton were bound to get themselves back in at some point - just good that they didn't score.

Really nice to see Cleverley back and looking very sharp for a player who can't be match fit. We look so much slicker when you see him moving the ball with Rooney and Welbeck.

In fact I've decided he must be Spanish, I considered renaming him Inteligentemente but I reckon Listo would suit him better, gives him that Brazilian sort of ring as well. :D

Well I think it is evident that Cleverley is possibly our neatest central midfielder. He does give the ball away but what he does going forward far outweighs this, especially when the rest of the CM's give the ball away and are adding little at the top end of the pitch.

He needs to be supplemented by someone else who does the dirty work and forces the tempo of the game.

It's going to take some time before Welbeck, Rooney and Chicharito are proficient in a front 3, I'm very encouraged that they've managed a goal already.

Chich has been anonymous at times but then that will happen if he's playing wide.

Park's cutting so far in from the right he's almost playing on the left wing, where Welbeck isn't really playing. Here's a revolutionary idea...why not play wingers on the wing, you know...wingers?

Also, what's with all the awful square on defending on the edge of our own box? Move with the ball ffs, not the man. It's not amatuer hour.

Cleverley needs a physically strong Keano type player next to him if we're to thrive off his attacking ability whilst not giving quite so many chances away.

Fletcher's been decent in helping us at the back but his passing has been as poor as always. I'd love to see Carrick Rooney and Cleverley in one midfield in some games whenever Carrick returns to the team.

Some of the comments so far are unbelievable in this thread. So Everton have had some possession, it doesn't make it a crises.

Welbeck being so poor?!

Evans and Fletcher being culprits?!

Hernandez offside all the time?!

Get behind your team you cnuts. feck me I don't know why some people watch football.

Sir Alex read the wingers in a 4-4-2 thread. We need to watch what we write around here.

we need a 2nd and a 3rd maybe too, 1-0 is too dodgy for me with everton racking up shots at our goal.
Hopefully they get tired after 90 min on sunday and 120 on wednesday and don't have the energy to put us under real pressure.

A couple of decent shots and Baines free kick aside we looked quite comfortable IMO. Bring on Valencia for Park to limit Baines going forward and Nani for Welbeck, because Hibbert is well, a bit shit really. We certainly need to get a second to seal the game... De Gea hasn't had too much to do so far, but there is no doubt Everton will be piling up the pressure right after half-time.

Everton finished the half strongly, and again the opposition finds a way to get shots on target too easily. A couple of panic alerts on the edge of the box, probably as a result of poor confidence and free kicks given whenever the defende can't just disappear when a ball is kicked past him.

Hopefully Everton's 120 minutes in midweek will begin to take a toll in the second half.

Listening on the radio so not really getting the full picture. We sounded poor last 15 muns though.

We also need a gif of that Vidic header.
