Everton vs Manchester United

Great result. Need Carrick back if Cleverley cannot stay fit.

Carrick is no replacement for Cleverley. His retention of the ball under pressure, speed of thought and quick feet made us look marvellous at times. Carrick's good at what he does but he doesn't do what Cleverley does. Seemingly nobody does that's been shown since the Bolton game I think.

3 points does not hide the fact that we were awaful.surely fergie must be able to see how woeful our midfield is,we continually get over run week after week.....

We didn't get over run today though. It was our counter attacking play that was absolutely dire.

And it's not just the midfield that was at fault by any means. You could pick out anyone in the entire team.

To get 3 points after that display was excellent, and that was all that mattered really- dont worry we wont play like that every week.

Any chance the journos at the next press conference can actually do their job and ask what's wrong with Carrick and Giggs.

Don't hold your breath, there will be something super-important to talk about, like the Great Britain team for the Olympics which will be either next week or next summer, I'm not sure.

Anyone else breaks the season down into 10 game slabs?
in 06-07, we were 25 after 10 games, 50 after 20 and 75 after 30 games. Have kept an eye on the points for us after 10 game slabs in the league.
23, especially considering the fixtures we have had, is very good.

We played poorly and I couldn't care less. We've won at Merseyside after 4 years and that's good enough for me. Really hope Cleverley is not out for long because we look a much much better side with him in the team.

I do that.

As well as the difficult home fixtures we are also blooding a lot of young players. I'm quite impressed with our start despite the City game.

I am very happy with the result given the fact that we did not start Young, Nani, Valencia and Anderson.

This. It was like the game against Liverpool, work-horses in Fletcher and Park playing, and players like Nani and Anderson left out.

After last week, I was just happy to win.

It was evident that Everton pushed 10 yards further up the pitch when Berba came on. I would have taken Hernandez off but pushed Welbeck up top and brought on Valencia.

Giggs is probably too tired after covering for the fact we can't afford a creative midfield player and he still is easily our most creative midfield player at 37 years old.

On a more serious note Carrick is a big miss its just very disappointing we have got to this state with central midfield though , just buy a world class midfield player its so obviously what we need.
