Evra accuses Suarez of racist remarks | Suarez guilty of racial abuse

fecking hell.

Just found this on the comments section of that LFC:

Speechless.

These people are unbelievably thick.

Am I missing something, are Evra and Suarez actually a couple of old pals who were just kidding around with each other at the time?

I regularly call my mates cnuts, but would expect to be fired if I aggressively said it to somebody at work.

What are the chances of Suarez having his ban significantly increased after his appeal due to massive strop they're all throwing?

Very low, they're unlikely to punish Suarez for the actions of his club. They could face a charge of bringing the game into disrepute though, and his ban may go up on appeal anyway.

Funniest thing is all this could've been resolved with LFC saying they condemn racism and use of racist language.

And Suarez saying he apologized and didn't intend to cause any offense by using the term.

For some reason I feel Evra would've accepted and dropped the whole thing.

Liverpool have been divsionist rather than conciliatory which has made it all the more worse.

AVB, Terry and Chelsea seem to be following the same pattern.

I'm dying to see what way they go from here. Surely, SURELY in the cold light of day they can see what a pigs arse they've made of their reaction. Surely they'll start to back away towards a more humble, rational, apologetic position. If they don't? If they charge on in the direction they're going? How they can have let such an easily-resolved barney escalate to this is beyond me.

Am I mis-remembering or was the original LFC statement quite different to the one on their website now?

Here's the latest one.

Liverpool Football Club is very surprised and disappointed with the decision of the Football Association Commission to find Luis Suarez guilty of the charges against him.

We look forward to the publication of the Commission's Judgment. We will study the detailed reasons of the Commission once they become available, but reserve our right to appeal or take any other course of action we feel appropriate with regards to this situation.

We find it extraordinary that Luis can be found guilty on the word of Patrice Evra alone when no-one else on the field of play - including Evra's own Manchester United teammates and all the match officials - heard the alleged conversation between the two players in a crowded Kop goalmouth while a corner kick was about to be taken.

The Club takes extremely seriously the fight against all forms of discrimination and has a long and successful track record in work relating to anti-racist activity and social inclusion. We remain committed to this ideal and equality for all, irrespective of a person's background.

LFC considers racism in any form to be unacceptable - without compromise. It is our strong held belief, having gone over the facts of the case, that Luis Suarez did not commit any racist act. It is also our opinion that the accusation by this particular player was not credible - certainly no more credible than his prior unfounded accusations.

It is key to note that Patrice Evra himself in his written statement in this case said 'I don't think that Luis Suarez is racist'. The FA in their opening remarks accepted that Luis Suarez was not racist.

Luis himself is of a mixed race family background as his grandfather was black. He has been personally involved since the 2010 World Cup in a charitable project which uses sport to encourage solidarity amongst people of different backgrounds with the central theme that the colour of a person's skin does not matter; they can all play together as a team.

He has played with black players and mixed with their families whilst with the Uruguay national side and was Captain at Ajax Amsterdam of a team with a proud multi-cultural profile, many of whom became good friends.

It seems incredible to us that a player of mixed heritage should be accused and found guilty in the way he has based on the evidence presented. We do not recognise the way in which Luis Suarez has been characterised.

It appears to us that the FA were determined to bring charges against Luis Suarez, even before interviewing him at the beginning of November. Nothing we have heard in the course of the hearing has changed our view that Luis Suarez is innocent of the charges brought against him and we will provide Luis with whatever support he now needs to clear his name.

We would also like to know when the FA intend to charge Patrice Evra with making abusive remarks to an opponent after he admitted himself in his evidence to insulting Luis Suarez in Spanish in the most objectionable of terms. Luis, to his credit, actually told the FA he had not heard the insult.

I could have sworn the original had some - potentially libellous - stuff about Evra's involvement in similar cases in the past? Had a dig through the thread and can't find it? Anyone else got a copy of it anywhere?

Still there, fifth paragraph from the top.

if you're talking about the accusations....it's still there

A Liverpool MP was on the radio earlier perpetuating the myth that Evra has a history of this sort of thing.

That's scary... Football fans, pundits and even officials are one thing, but MPs?!

Do you know who it was? I'm seriously minded to write to him and his party, given the level of accountability they make MPs maintain these days.

Tony Barrett of the Times has stated that the offensive word in question is 'Negro,' not 'Negrito'. If true, it's becoming harder for Liverpool to put a 'term of endearment' spin on this.

Liverpool can congratulate themselves when things get nasty at Old Trafford, because their conduct isn't helping the relationship between fans.

United fans should bombard LFC with letters/emails of complaint relating to the false libelous statements they are making regarding Evra

Surely this continued perpetuating of lies is leaving United with no option other than to sue for libel.

Coming from a club that talks about media lies all the time is.nothing short of incedible.

Liverpool. We lie when it suits us.

It's hardly worth considering recent viewpoints from people connected with Liverpool FC & Uruguay; they're almost certain to be biased in favour of Suarez, even at the cost of common sense and morals.

Could be wrong, but they seem to have three women and two men, one of whom has quite a bit of Liverpool-based info on his wiki page, the other guy doesn't say a lot about it.

Ring any bells to whoever listened to it? Quite extraordinary that so many people get get something so wrong. Sad for Evra really. Must be horrible to have so many misinformed people incorrectly quoting you so often. Surprised he hasn't taken legal action, his reputation is being dragged through the gutter by people who've heard something they liked the sound of, and continued spouting it.

He didn't accuse him directly but said something along the lines of 'it's been said that Evra has form in this sort of thing.'

Some people seem to be saying Evra has been involved in incidents like this in the past. That's technically correct (and meaningless).

Its the one that accuse him of lodging complaints which are spastic.

My Pool supporting mate:

But the Saurez case compared to the Terry case is pretty light - he's probably lucky to only have match bans and a fine. He said "negro" a bunch of times, obviously using it in degrading terms. Least he didn't add any other words to intensive the degrading use of negro..

Liverpool say that it's Evra's word against his, and that no one else heard the remarks. But I don't doubt that he did say them and intend them to be racially aggravating - whether he meant it or intended it to just piss him off to put him off his game. Regardless, he's a dick for saying it, and he deserves his punishment.

wow, just wow.

Setting the standards sky high over in Liverpool, eh?

"A strong team player with a high level of integrity"

Must only lie about matters when it suits LFC.

It's here but I can't listen to it at the moment. Radio: Rotheram: If it's proven that Suarez used racist language, he has to be punished | Radio talkSPORT

How stupid can you get? He's not accused of being a racist, but of makin racist insults! Their defense is akin to if Giggs elbowed someone on the pitch, and we protest the punishment by arguing that he's not a violent person, and showing his yoga DVD as evidence that he's actually a soft pussycat.

Nice one.

Hang on... can you give me a rough time for the quotes? If I tried listening to Keys, Gray and a scouser for half an hour... well, I'm not sure I'd ever quite get over it.

See post #4143.

He didn't accuse him of anything directly but it serves to perpetuate the myth for all the sheep listening in my view.

No, no, no. That's photoshopped, right? They haven't really got down to this level?

This case really is the gift that keeps on giving.

(Who is that tit anyway, his lawyer?)
Suarez' lawyer. I only have a norwegian link. It's amazing.
Looks like a missing person press conference.
 It does! Black kid missing, last seen with toothy Uruguayan.
