Evra accuses Suarez of racist remarks | Suarez guilty of racial abuse

Dalglish's latest statment is better.

Except the glaring lack of apology to Evra. Still.

My intentions aren't all that admirable, I'd rather just rise above it and watch this mess unfold from the higher ground rather than getting embroiled in it...

All this furore is fuelling the fire though, what are you expecting to happen? I don't agree with the way they treated Evra, but it's done now and we should be big enough to put it behind us rather than trying to prolong the drama. The club isnt racist and suggesting it is is just childish, it was a horrible thing that happened and anyone with an ounce of intelligence (scousers included) knows it was but it's in the past now so let's leave it there.

Maybe Evra should have said nothing in the first place and there would be no trouble at all now.

The way they have treated Evra in the past few months has been worse than the original crime. It was all said already, so no, I won't leave it.

Do you have any idea what you are trying to achieve? All that all this is going to do is increase animosity between the two clubs fans; that's never going to achieve anything positive.

I think that the spotlight being kept on that horrible club and that horrible man by the fans and the media is about the best thing that can happen. Hopefully he will crack up completely and walk away leaving them to get rid of Suarez and then try to pick up the pieces. If what you are worrying about happening in a few weeks does happen then I won't feel one bit responsible. LFC have a responsibility to both control and offer leadership to their fans. It's proven they are incapable of either, so as much attention need to be kept on this so we can keep up the pressure on this management team.

Getting that out of touch with modern reality twat out of football would be the ultimate goal now.

The animosity is being created by one side alone. SAF, Evra or the club have been virtually silent on the matter.

Dalglish Statement

from the scousers official site

"This is a worldwide football institution...

...."I was brought up in Glasgow, I'm very proud to be a Glaswegian. That's had its own undercurrent. In those days back there I was used to it, I was brought up to be respectful to the teachers, to be respectful to policemen, but also to be respectful to people, irrespective of their colour, their creed or their religion and I don't think it stood me in too bad a stead.

"For me, that's the way I'll continue my life. I was told also that if you tell the truth then you won't go too far wrong, so I will always maintain that stance and I think that's the stance that this football club has always maintained.

"If we can help in any way, shape or form with anything the FA put forward regards anti-racism, we'll be first up to the plate."

Their creed or their religion? Interesting definition.

It's quite amazing just how much talking they're doing compared to how little you hear from United.

Another article calling for calm. Fergie's mentioned nothing of it, Evra hasn't, no one has. But it seems that every day you read another person connected with Liverpool hoping we don't 'antagonise them' as if we've done something wrong.

First you had Dalglish saying (through the media) that they should meet with United to try diffuse the situation, now there's CEO Ian Ayre doing his bit. They forget that absolutely everything to do with this is their own doing. Other than one of our players being on the RECEIVING end of racial abuse, we've done nothing whatsoever to provoke any reaction. Hope we fecking ruin them.

FA chiefs will contact Liverpool and Manchester United to try to stop their FA Cup tie boiling over - News - MirrorFootball.co.uk

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez was banned by the FA for eight matches for events centred around an incident involving the Frenchman during a Premier League match against Manchester United in October.

Evra complained to the referee that the striker had racially abused him and the governing body said that the Uruguayan had used words which "included a reference to Mr Evra's colour", judged to be a serious breach of the organisation's rules.

Pereira has given his backing to his Uruguay team-mate and stated that United's position on this matter is driven by sporting affairs.

"Evra had no code: what happens on the pitch, stays on the pitch," he told Radio Sport 890.

"Tomorrow, something like this can happen to a team-mate of his.

"United tried to take advantage of this situation and prevent one of Liverpool's best players from playing. That is sad.

"It seems like it is a sin to say something on the pitch. If this happened in South America, they would have to suspend all players.

"Evra has a complex. He is not proud to be black. If I am called 'negro', I start laughing. My team-mates call me 'negro' and in South America it can also be used in an affectionate way.

"It is obvious that you can use this word with good or bad intentions, but I always laugh. Evra must have some kind of problem about being black, or some inferiority complex. I do not."

The 26-year-old added that if the international friendly between France and Uruguay, which is scheduled for the end of 2012, were to take place now, Evra "would have to wear armour".

There's the full piece.

My God, thats unthinkable to hear shit like that. There's feck all fun or social expression about expressing terms to another person - complete stranger at that, of his race, creed, beliefs or colour. This shit is really bringing out the worst in people. Sickening!

Uruguayan's and scousers should realise that just because something is acceptable in their own country does not mean that it is acceptable somewhere else, this down to differences in history, culture, etc.

Someone educate these idiots that there's a world outside their own.

The only way I could find it in myself to rekindle any degree of respect for Liverpool FC as an institution is if "they" issued something along these lines:

"Since the dust has settled somewhat on the Suarez-Evra incident, with the benefit of hindsight we recognise that our natural response to protect our own player in light of serious allegations mistakenly gave the impression we were unsympathetic to Mr Evra himself. We would like to take this opportunity to apologise to him now, unreservedly; for both the original offence and for our subsequent statements that implied he was somehow at fault. Although the club intends to both support and guide Mr Suarez's future conduct as a Liverpool player, Liverpool Football Club sincerely regrets some of its actions in this matter, and believes that Patrice Evra's reputation has been done a disservice by some of our statements during a time in which there has been more heat than light."

What's so hard about that? Sure, it's a climb down, but it takes real guts to do something like that and I genuinely believe they'd salvage something of their own reputation if they were this unequivocal. feck what a few of their more childish fans might think, you know?

Has anyone seen William Roache's twitter account?

Pathetic LFC fans trying to get my accout blocked, led by man with a head like a scrotum @TheRedAaron #MovemberWasLastYear #CantBanTheBarlow

LFC fans still spouting lies about Evra making racist comments #HeadInTheSand

You can't be part of the fight against racism Ken, then ignore racist comments because your star striker said them #HeadInTheSand

Interesting comments from @kennethdalglish on the LFC site tonight. The man is deluded.

Bit worried by @Kennethdalglish Twitter silence since Suarez verdict. Has he forgotten his password?? #TennantsSuper

First death threat of the day courtesy of @5mugsyd . Laughable. Think the LFC fans are slacking today, or are they all busy signing on?

What a sad sack, been in touch with my 'bosses' trying to get me 'kicked off' Coronation Street. Not happening, I'm here to stay

They can't do that, if they do it means they're accepting Evra's account is accurate, which makes their actions after the guilty verdict was given all the more reprehensible. Given the conflicting nature of Evra and Suarez's accounts of the story, one of them has to be telling the truth and the other lying. Evra's account does not leave open the possibility of cultural misunderstanding, and they're sure as feck not going to condemn their own player as a racist.

Liverpool were a great club. They aren't anymore, party because they cant create a League winning team, partly because of their boardroom shenanigans and now alot to do with their conduct these past 3 months.

Hey Farva, what's the name of that restaurant you like with all the goofy shit on the wall and the mozzarella sticks?

Media on Racism: Part 1 – Churnalism « N E W S

It's all Jeremy Clarkson's fault, apparently. It's amazing that even the high-level arguments they are using boil down to the blinkered, biased, blind love inherent ONLY in Liverpool fans. They need to just stop this. But they won't. Expect the same level of outrage amongst their fans when we go to Klanfield

I have been successful in getting a Parliamentary Select Committee (DCMS) to look at the whole issue of racism in football/sport (06/03/12)

Not sure where to put this, but Ryan Babel posted a BBM claiming it was Evra's, the BBM obviously blew up with messages, only for Babel to reveal it was, in his own words, "a hater's" BBM. End result, Babel is now trending on twitter worldwide

So in English, Babel had the BBM of someone who was a nuisance in some sort of way, so posted it and pretended it was Evra's in the hope that whoever it was would get lots of abusive messages and render their BBM useless?

I like it.

EDIT - On research, he actually gave Rooney and Evra's genuine BBM's out. What a prick.

Its what any decent football fan would do .... but the cynic in me tells me this is just now all part of a restorative PR job, aimed at trying to re-establish Liverpool's supposed unequivocal stance on Racism, an attempt to score some points with the footballing public at large and to deflect attention away from the shocking, disgraceful and 'implicit racism endorsement' strategy they so crudely took during the disgusting SUAREZ episode (which still has many legs to run).

Pathetic football club, pathetic players, pathetic fans ... I don't trust or believe Liverpool football club on anything on these matters anymore .... any utterances from the club on racism or in particular, on the Suarez Racism Case will all be purely strategic damage limitation exercises, cynically thought out by PR professionals and NOT acts of genuine belief from the heart.

Take the actions taken by our club less than 24 hours of the Cantona Kung Fu Moment as an example ..... that is zero tolerance. I'd hoped Liverpool would have acted the same way ... they didn't. Case closed.

Yeah pretty much. Its been a long day, and I don't really understand twitter at the best of times.

I'm refering to the respond the Pool fan gets when defending Suarez later in the thread. That's how most decent people feel about this...

Like always though, there's a Liverpool fan trying to defend Suarez / poke holes in the FA's testimony... I'm tempted to register on that forum just to pick holes in his ridiculous post of Suarez innocence.

His defence even contains the, now standard, "he can't be racist 'cos he knows black people"...:wenger:
