Evra accuses Suarez of racist remarks | Suarez guilty of racial abuse

Of that vid I posted, at 1:46 I'm sure Evra is telling the ref about what is being said to him. I hope something good comes out of this.

According to journos on twatter, the allegation was made at the end of the match to the ref and not during it.

Ref has included it in his report.

Aren't you from Maynooth, you animal rapist? Nowhere are the people whiter than in Maynnoth. Over three surveys have proven that beyond doubt.

It is very white, I'll admit that.

There was a girl from S. Africa in one of my classes a couple of years ago but I never plucked up the courage to speak to her. Her unbelievably white teeth put me off.

Well, what can Marriner do if Evra keeps complaining? I think Marriner talked to Evra several times during the match and he certainly had a long talk with both Evra and Suarez before the corner was taken. Apparently Evra kept complaining after the corner had been dealt with, so he got a booking. You can't just let a player complain just in case what he's saying is true - no matter what the complaint is about. Marriner obviously didn't hear it, so there's nothing he can do about it no matter how much Evra complains.

The complaint was made at the end of the game as it turns out, no way any ref is going to book someone for allegations of racism.

I might be on me own now but as much as i hate LFC and the diving cnut he might have said that word in the heat of the moment. If he said it I´m sure he regret it but those of you who think that it´s all very gentle out there has never played a footiegame. God knows i´ve said many wrong things in the heat of the moment (not racist though but still) and I have sung songs not so likeable to say the least. In the heat of the moment is one thing then you regret it and apologise and dont tell me all at Anfield singing murderers are cnuts because they aren´t. They are at enemyland getting fecking wound up and respond to that pathetic load of shite but they dont really mean it. People died ffs and no United-fan applauds that but in a group, having a few pints, I have also sung sick songs. However if the cnut said it and dont call Paddy to say sorry then he can feck off

using the word nigga has become acceptable. I dont think that one will ever become removed. It's established and rooted itself within this current generation so much that hispanics call each other niggas. Basically alot of people try and use it. Yet even using that word if you're not black causes problems. I've seen it first hand and the reaction is always, 'if you can use it, why cant I?'

black comedians take advantage of the fact that they can sound funny with it and crowds seem to like it. Then it's also in hip-hop culture and such. So in that sense, I dont see that word going away anytime soon.

Now the other one is more clear cut and from where I'm from if you use that in any context it's unacceptable. When I see black comedians use it, I just shake my head. You get mad when someone else uses it but then you take liberty in using it as well. That's their approach and from my hometown, kids do the same thing. Makes the problem even more convoluted. That's why I wonder if it will ever disappear from society.

It's a different pronunciation of the same word.

No you're not sure of anything. You have no idea what Evra may be saying. Any scenario could be possible.

If Suarez said it 10 times he'll be caught and punished. If not, then Evra should be punished for false allegations? Claiming someone racially insulted you should be taken seriously.

If it can't be conclusively proved it doesn't necessarily mean it never happened does it?

I'm sorry but the heat of the moment only counts for so much. I see where you're coming from. I think we all say some choice words in the heat of the moment and end up regretting it. If Evra is in fact telling the truth about Suarez saying it at least ten times (whatever he said) then it kind of makes what you're saying a moot point. Ten times is quite excessive and seems more a direct attack/insult than more of the heat of the moment type occasion. At least the FA are looking into it but I don't have too much hope. If Mr. Suarez is found to be guilty does anyone have an idea of what the punishment would be?

I'm guessing a suspension and a fine.

Four match ban for Evra?

No, but with the amount of cameras around, surely they'd catch at least 1 of the insults out of 10? The match day camera even panned over the 2 of them arguing plenty of times

Then you should display a better understanding of the importance of context. ;)

the point I made about Twain and the film, is I fully understand how things were in the past... and dont apply current morals to how things were in the past. I remember in that respect even Sir Matt being accused of being a racists by someone here or elsewhere.

Like someone pointed out here some just love throwing the word around...to at least provoke...

pete is an utter cnut btw :)

My point exactly. But somehow it's become as they say a more friendlier usage of the word. Hence, why so many black leaders want it out but like I've said before, a lot of people have lapped it up (including myself on some occasions) and it's now become socially acceptable to an extent to say it. Especially in America. In my high school, kids said it all the time. Just became the norm. Once that happens, it's hard to remove it.

Is the prevalence of the word without any negative connotations not progress in a weird way?

Anyway, who cares..... this thread has turned to shit.

Evra isn't one to make things up, he was the captain on the day after all, quite a responsibility, and I wouldn't doubt he put this past Fergie first.

I'm willing to go ahead and call is classless by Suarez.

Heat of the moment can justify some things, although they still show a lack of self-control. Racist slurs can't be justified by 'heat of the moment' in my opinion, and neither can singing about tragedies.

Going along with the crowd isn't an excuse either, there are some things that you know surpass having a bit of a joke, or a bit of rivalry, and if true, this would be one of them.

Don't paint all racists with the same brush though. Racists like Suarez are just distorting racism. Racism is about peace really.

Exactly. You either have something in your vocabulary or you don't.

Take the C word. I try not to use it, but in the heat of the moment I may do, and I admit this. Whereas in no circumstance would I use the N word in the Heat of the moment, it's just not there in my mind to use. Because I'm not a racist.

Don't quite see how your issues with religion are relevant to this thread, that post seemed a bit contrived to be honest.

Exactly, the other day in cricket training I got wound up and told someone to 'feck off', I regretted it afterwards because it was a bit of an overreaction to someone winding me up, but it's a fairly impersonal insult and could have been said to or by anyone in the same situation.

Going after something more personal, whether it's a racist slur, homophobic, anything else 'different', you have to be a bit of a twat to overcome that social barrier so quickly and pick on that thing the minute you feel a bit provoked. I do think if that's your immediate reaction, it does perhaps imply that that thought was bubbling quite close to the surface anyway.

I don't know whether Suarez is a racist or not. However, I do know that he's not above cheating; I reckon he (allegedly) racially abused Evra in the hope that Paddy would react & United go down to ten men.

...

Not really, I have nothing against, for example, bald people, but if I'm having a row with someone I might call him a baldy twat or whatever. It's about what will wind the person up more than anything else.

Eyepopper Boss and Agent Red: Do you NOT fecking believe that most of our travelling fans (who is fecking mint) dont regret singing murderers today??? If the fecking cnut said it on numerous occasions he should feck off though, I didn´t know that

did not realize the difference between america and britain like that apologies. and for the record, I'm african-american. wont lose my cool again. just doesnt rub well ya know?

If he gave you the impression that it's cool to do that here in England, it's not...

Calling someone a baldy twat in the heat of the moment shows nothing more than you are a bit shit at arguing.

Racially abusing someone shows that you at some level think their race is an issue that can be used in the negative, therefore implying some degree of racism.

In both cases the commonality is idiocy.

Erm, no. It's basically the same thing, except abusing bald people doesn't have the stigma associated with it that racism does.
