Evra accuses Suarez of racist remarks | Suarez guilty of racial abuse

So he'll miss the City league game and be back for the United game. Kinda hurts United in a way (less chance of them taking points from City without him).

They're playing City exactly 14 days from now. The way I read the statement he'll be able to play that game, as it's within the appeal-period:

Mr Suarez has the right to appeal the decision of the Independent Regulatory Commission to an Appeal Board. An appeal must be lodged within 14 days of the date of the written reasons for the decision.

English isn't my first language though, so I might be misunderstanding some of the wording. Would be nice to get cleared up.

Brilliant quote from RAWK on why they may win an appeal.

Can you have insulting words that are not offensive?

The logic of Liverpool fans baffles me, crude and insulting language is always excluded from freedom of expression protections on such grounds in law and regulation of just about every state and organisation known to man.

Daily Heil in being dicks shocker: Luis Suarez given eight-match ban for race row | Mail Online

WHAT HAPPENED AT ANFIELD ON OCTOBER 15?**

Manchester United faced Liverpool in a Premier League match. In the 57th minute Suarez fouled Evra and tempers flared at the next corner. They squared up to each other and Evra asked why Suarez kicked him. Suarez said he should forget about it, these things happen. Evra claims Suarez then became racially abusive, using the word 'negro'. Suarez denies using the word in that clash. Evra is clearly wound up, but nearby players do not seem particularly bothered.

A few minutes later Marriner calls the pair together. Suarez apologises and tries to pat Evra on the head. It is alleged Evra said: 'Don't touch me, you South American,' to which Suarez replies: 'Porque, negro?'

Evra catches Kuyt two minutes later and is booked. He allegedly shouts at Marriner: 'You're only booking me because I'm black.'

Suarez is bemused, saying: 'I called him something his team-mates call him and even they were surprised by his reaction.'

**According to them.

Good news, in a weird way as it's vindication for Evra, I don't care about the ban so much. And feck Kenny Dalglish.

It implies that he will not be suspended until a reaffirmation of a suspension following an appeal, if an appeal is lodged in the next two weeks.

Therefore a ban presumably will not begin for at least two weeks, it also doesn't tell you of course what the timeframe for an appeal is, when it would be heard and how long it would take to come to judgement.

I see the dippers have their PR team leaking stories already.
Its all "alleged" and there will never be any follow up. Just gives people a reason to think the cnut has been hard done by

As much as I want this to happen (i.e. additional ban), I would have to say no, because that would discourage the act of appealing, which is against the very spirit of the appeal system. Let them appeal, and let them get another big eff off.

Id be surprised if they appeal. This committee will have done all its homework, covered off every base, within football and British law.

Liverpool can't be that stupid?????

See a lot of people mentioning how Liverpool and Dalglish have openly spoken about it in recent weeks which would appear to be true. Does anyone have direct quotes about what they've said?

"We would rather have it done and dusted, out in the open.

"Whoever is the guilty party - the person who said it or the accuser - [should] get their due punishment."

Dalglish also insisted that he is confident Suarez will be cleared, claiming that racism is not a problem at Liverpool.

"For me, I don't see racism apparent in any way, shape or form as far as this football club is concerned,” he added.

"I do not think racism is prevalent in the game here and it certainly isn't at this football club.”

TBF, 8 matches is a pretty big ban in normal terms, if you don't focus on the silly bans that are reserved for our players.

Wonder what LFC's reaction will be... punish their own player for being found guilty of racism?

Any other job and you would more than likely be sacked for racial abuse. He got off light with 8 matches

If they beat Oldham he's back for our game.

Right, I was wondering if the CC final could be in between but totally ignored the FA cup. Save to assume he'll be able to play at OT then, unless Liverpool appeal. Wonder if Daglish will play him though, as I'm sure the United supporters would do just about anything to wind him up.

Great quote from RAWK

"If it were up to me (and I wish it was), I'd pull all of our players out of any England squad, and boycott the FA cup. fecking disgraceful decision.".

Oh no please don't get rid of Carroll,Johnson and Downing we might not win the Euros.

Cheers. So assuming Liverpool don't appeal, he'll be back for the game after United at Old Trafford. Can't help but wonder if that's how they came up with 8 matches.

If this applies only to premier league matches and if Liverpool accepts the punishment he'll be back for Man United as it is in nine league games time.

And he could play in games after that depending on how long the appeal process takes, he isn't banned properly until the appeal is dealt with fully.

It could be well into January before the ban starts.

8 matches...does that include cups?

I doubt this will apply just for league matches, he'll miss the FA and Carling Cups as well. He can then look forward to a warm welcome at Old Trafford.

I fully expect Gerrard and Michael Shields to have a joint press conference in support of Suarez

I hope Daglish is not playing him as it can be quite ugly. Our fans won't make it easy for him.

Theres an Fa cup 4th round game in late jan which isn't on the fixtures, so I'm pretty sure his first game back will be United at OT

I sincerely hope the game against us is his first game back. The cnut.

Can't wait to hear Liverpool's response on this, or SAF's next press conference - have a feeling there's one or two things he'll want to say about Liverpool's conduct throughout this.

Liverpool and their boycotts, they may as well all move to a nuclear bomb shelter for the next fifty years considering that they must have declared non-interraction with most of civilisation by now.

Couldn't see him playing in it even if he is available. Dalglish would have to protect him surely.

Nice one Mr Dalglish.

Although as someone mentioned earlier, this shouldn't be the end of it. If the FA want to kick racism out of football, his ban should be closer to 8 months than 8 games. Especially when you compare it Rio's ban. Let's just say he was taking drugs (cheating), is that worse than racism, when you have players diving and trying to con officials in every game?

At least he's been punished though, much more than I was expecting.
