Unfortunately, I can see the ban being reduced when Liverpool ineviatably appeal it. That sort of thing always does seem to happen with bans for players.
He's never denied it.

Brilliant and deserves it's own thread as will get lost in the madness of the other one. Sounds like the investigation was fecking farcical.
whoever wrote that at LFC should be promoted. That statement captured everything. Well said.
All lines were great but this is the best It is also our opinion that the accusation by this particular player was not credible - certainly no more credible than his prior unfounded accusations.
We are going to war
Just read that off the site, they are spot on..
What a fecking boss statement.
well in liverppol fc - this needs to be shouted from the rooftops, we will defend our man to the hilt
The strength of that statement is unprecedented, obviously cleared by our lawyers and owners.
We are going to war, expect this to end up in court.
YAWN
We should consider the possibility of withdrawing from the FA cup in protest of, which now has become farsical beyond belief, the inanae witch hunt against one of our players. They will ban him for the gestureat fulham also.
It hasn't been taken down
Liverpool FC statement 20 12 11 - Liverpool FC
there are so many things wrong with Liverpool's statement. I am genuinely shocked and disgusted. He's admitted using the word so they should stay classy and try and move on, instead they come out of it looking even worse as an entire club and global brand. Pathetic. Even though we hate Liverpool, i am extremely disappointed by a club which I used to have a lot of respect for. Sad.

The statement suggests that Suarez didn't admit to saying the word as they're saying he was convicted on Evra's word. Which makes their obvious briefings to the media on the cultural lexicon issue all the more strange.
Anyone want to make a downfall video of this thing?
It is typical of them, that they have separated themselves and their fans further away from everybody else with such a statement - their fans will love it whilst everybody else looks on completely bewildered.
How long do you think it will be until Benitez rolls down to a television studio to give us an analysis of the matter?

Gus Poyet: 'Negrito isn't offensive. Such people are part of our society. We go to war with them, and at the same time use that word"
If it's being taken down and you haven't read it, here it is.

I think I've touched this before, but in light of Liverpool's recent statement and their refusal to admit that Suarez might have been wrong (and thus effectively blindly supporting a convicted racist) I'll bring it up again. Do any of you think that the sponsors will react to this somehow? If I was a major corporation I'm not sure I'd like to have my name associated with a club that conducts itself in the way that Liverpool has. Would also be an easy way to boost your reputation by pulling out with a statement saying that they in no way accept racism and given Liverpool's attitude they won't be associated with them any longer.
I'm not expecting all their sponsors to pull out obviously, but I wouldn't be surprised if one or two did. I can easily imagine that quite a few companies will look back at this case in the coming year and think "Maybe we should throw our money at Spurs/whatever instead".
Is it possible that the evidence could be based upon what Suarez said to the papers about calling him what his team mates call him which is esentially negro?
I posted before in this thread that he's shot himself in the foot by saying that because had he kept quiet and speaking theoretically based upon there being no footage there would have been no evidence. So perhaps if they had kept quiet like the FA recommended he might have got away with it.
We've discussed this part many a time so far in this thread but IF he didn't call him anything and wasn't a racist why did he admit calling him that term but tried to the justify it by saying it's what we call people back at home. You don't call someone that in the heat of the moment and expect it to not be racist.
I might get slated for this point but I speak punjabi, saying white or a white person is referred to 'gorah' in my language but if i was angry with a white person and said you gorah or feckin gorah I'd deem that as racist. The same way if someone said to me you indian instead of you prick. That's essentially the case isn't it?
