Maybe or Maybe Merc had an idea they would pit, not long after.Got lucky that Leclerc and Gasly pitted immediately

That doesn't seem to be related to what I was saying. But it seems you agree that extenuating circumstances (being hit, learning a new car, having to take your teammates damaged parts, etc) make the teammate discussion about more than just points.
You make it sound like Bottas has never given up multiple first place positions to let Hamilton win races
circumstances were very different to what they are now. he’s changed this year. You make it sound like Bottas has never given up multiple first place positions to let Hamilton win races
Bottas wouldn't even follow the order not to steal the fastest lap point. He's been a far worse wingman than Checo this year.
He's still racing for them and paid by them.Who does Bottas owe?
His team have binned him.

He’s also paid millions to do a job.
he’s been released because he’s been absolutely dogshit this year and deserves to be replaced.Yup
His team has released him.
It's a big landmark to be fair

Regularly getting better start positions than his teammate after the announcement.he’s been released because he’s been absolutely dogshit this year and deserves to be replaced.

Done alright for himself, not helping his teammate, where he's been shockingDogshit, but outscoring his rival, which has so far kept Merc ahead in the constructors.
Considering the Red Bull is apparently the better car this year, he's done alright
Bottas is not working for the team, so he should be replaced. Red bull would no question, this is a ruthless business. Merc are to blame for lacking ruthlessness. So whose fault is it then. Bottas or the team?
Don't basically sack your driver half way through a season

No, they just didn't renew his contract. His contract was only on till the end of the 2021 season. Big difference to being released from a contract.
At the end of the season, yes. Not mid season, which you could think seeing him raceSo they're releasing him at the end of the season.
Thanks for clearing that up

You did, thoughThats why I didn't say they've sacked him
No, releasing would be inferring that he's still in a contract. I.e. we're releasing you from your contract. His contract expires at the end of the season, so he would be without a drive without a renewal either way. Either way, I'm not sure you get the driver market and how it works very well.
You maybe?Someone
That attitude wouldn’t look great to a prospective employer though?Who does Bottas owe?
His team have binned him.

Man you're really not making any sense whatsoever. I get quoted in that post saying "why does everybody need to make Max the underdog" despite me not saying Max is the underdog. I roll my eyes at that and now somehow I'm a hypocrite, embarrassing even? Get a grip man just enjoy the raceYou said basically "why does everyone need to make Lewis the underdog" and the post you rolled your eyes at said basically "why does everyone need to make Max the underdog".
Embarrassingly hypocritical.
Done alright for his team too.
If it wasn't for him, and him outscoring Perez, Red Bull would have been ahead. So for the team, and the constructors, he's done a good job.
You're all Lewis fans, so you want him to bow down to Lewis, but Merc care more about the constructors than they do Lewis and his championship
I'll admit I don't know the logistics of F1 driver contracts etc, if I did, I'd be a millionaire.
But they're releasing him at the end of the season. If they offered him a contract, he'd snap their hands off. So it's their decision, they're releasing him...
