F1 2022 Season

Hamilton quoted as saying Mercedes arent in a position to win any of the early races, alot of work to do on the car. Not like Bahrain last year where they turned it around in the race.
Where? What is your source please?

Mercedes looks absolutely shite. If I never knew anything I would think they were a midtable team. Hope they sort out their issues fast.

Merc are completely sandbagging as usual.

I think that article on pace is about right. We’ll see Merc Red Bull and Ferrari all within about 0.2s next weekend. Hopefully Ferrari have the edge.

As it stands I am liking this new pecking order with Red Bull and Ferrari as 1/2. Bring it on.

Really hope we get a few teams in the mix for the whole season, it would be nice to see some different ones involved as well not just Mercedes and Red Bull.

Yeah, I was actually being charitable. His dad was clearly also a massive enabling cnut as well.
Steiner: he is not an oligarch, he is fertiliser guy

Merc still 2 seconds down on red bull and Ferrari in this session

I do wonder if they are sandbagging... Will be interesting to see if they throw in a few fast laps at the end as there is just over an hour left

Sandbagging, taking it easy, not wanting to show all thier cards, call it what you want.
Teams have upgrades ready, some are using , some have some coming up.
I take very little notice of testing times.

It looks so far off thats why I think they might be sandbagging... If they don't put in any quick times in the next hour they must feel pretty confident they can turn up to quali and do it straight away
That's why I said at times, Russell is 0.4 off, Lewis has not been near all 3 days.
It could be problems or like you say they already know what the cars can do.

Russell Merc stil porpoising.

If Mercedes have the car right, you would expect them to, throw in some P1 times in this ladt hour, just to let the other teams see, look we are fast.
I'm not so sure. I'd let everyone else get confident and leave them no time to react on race weekend.

Max bangs in P1 time on a used set of C5s, tge fastest set.
1.31.973.
Car looks good, running low, no porposing.
I think Toto might be sweating or he is not bothered.

Pretty notable so far that the Red Bull seems the least affected by porpoising I'd say. Feels like that'll be a huge obstacle for teams to overcome, especially when choosing a setup for qualification.

Can someone explain me in simple terms what 'porpoising' is?

Air goes under the car, pulling it down, pulls it down so far the floor of the car touches the road causing the air to stop running underneath, allowing the car to rise back up.

What’s the benefit? Everyone will be trying to go as fast as possible next week regardless or whether Merc bang in a fast lap or not.

Red bull just looks so much more graceful and dialed in. I don't think Hamilton was bluffing with his statements.

Suspect different teams will have different porpoising problems at different tracks... But right now red bull seem to be in the best place
