F1 2022 Season

Perez completely shit the bed then tried to argue his way back past with non existent track limits

Ferrari are the dumbest team in all sports by a landslide.

Max managed his tyres well there while maintaning good pace. Only Ferraris could have done something about it but they messed it up

The championship looks a long way away now for Ferrari.

For all the slander and hate thrown around last year, it just goes to show how amazing the consistency for both Lewis and Max really is. Maybe other drivers can compete on pace but on race craft and consistency, these guys are still some way ahead from even Leclerc it has to be said.

In terms of actual race craft, I think Lewis has been at his best this year when you consider the lack of pace the Mercedes has and how he has quietly gotten the points.

If Merc could find 2-3 tenths in race pace they would threaten every week, over 1 lap it’s nowhere but it’s a good race car.

Leclerc saying "if" he loses the title by 32 points he will know where the gap was from is pretty amusing. The rate they are going it will be lost by 75/80 points at least.

That was a decision under panic to pit Sainz when they did. If they expected tyre problems they could have easily done it a few laps earlier

Ferrari won’t win a thing with Binotto as team principal.

He was definitely off a bit at the start of the season but he’s back at his best now.

I think if they had to pit, even if they’d done it earlier I don’t think they’d have made it back. So awful strategy, again, but I suspect it didn’t cost them today in the end.

they weren’t even contemplating it until sainz said pit me that’s the confusing thing.

why they changed from stay out to pit is baffling

Is that now 4 podiums on the bounce for him? Very impressive.

Good to see the comments about him from certain people on this forum have disappeared

Agreed, the consistency of the pair and general lack of self inflicted mistakes, is ahead of the rest of the grid. Though I'd add alonso to the list with max and lewis.

I think the Ferrari decision to stop wasn't quite as stupid as it looked at the time.

I don't think Sainz had the life in his tyres to pull 5s away from the other two to cover the penalty, so he would have been P5 either way, and with the stop he gained the fastest lap point as well.

He should have pitted 5 or 6 laps earlier if a pit was being considered, that would have maximised the new tyre advantage and given him a chance of getting to the two in front of him.

Yep. Although in the end either way he probably ends up where he was. The whole thing only made sense if they categorically knew, though, that they couldn’t get to the end.

Yeah, stopping earlier would have been a lot better - just saying that stopping when they did probably still worked out better than not stopping at all.

Only way they’re only 32 points behind by the end of the season would be if Max missed a race or two from covid.

Or 3 or 4 lets be honest.

Never seen a team as good at self sabataging as Ferrari and their drivers.
