F1 2023 Season

This is what happens when a sport loses its integrity.
It certainly can't help. And I don't buy for a second that F1 won't care as long as the tracks are full. There will be a demand for tickets which might still be larger than supply, but a diminishing social media interest is clearly a sign that demand is falling and they'll want to arrest that before the lines cross.

The solution was simple. 20 race cap. Three or four spec races a year. No changes to race weekend format. Some loosening in the regs to allow for more innovation.

Instead it's just a blursed version of a great sport.

Everything about this sport is summed up by Andretti trying to join the grid, happy to pay what's needed, passed all the competency tests and is a hugely established US brand with absolutely tons of motor racing experience...........and all the teams don't want them in because their pie might get a little bit smaller.

It's crazy really that the teams have the power (not officially) to veto any new entrants but we also need the teams to have power in case Liberty or the FIA try and implement stupid new features (like sprints, which are shit, always will be shit and one day will be dropped when everyone realises they add nothing).

I'm rapidly falling out of love with the sport Robbie.

There is no way to spin refusing andretti's entry to F1 that comes off as anything but greedy.

It is the best possible application they could ever get and if they refuse it they're confirming that they never want anyone to join as an eleventh team and to be honest I think it will put future teams off anyway. Considering how robust the andretti application is and how much money they have put in already.

This should be the dream application, a legendary racing name, established racing team, backed by gm for fecks sake. Haas are a weaker team than the one andretti are proposing.

Since when did F1 become a closed club?I am actually asking because I am lazy to look it up. It should be FIA deciding who joins and not the teams themselves. Of course there would be a conflict of interest.

Exactly right, GM!

It would be like IndyCar turning down Ferrari. Let's hope they take some sensible pills and actually make this happen, the only route to entry being essentially to buy a team is ridiculous when we are only at 10 teams.

FIA is the sports governing body but Liberty Media is the commercial holder so it has to be approved by both. There is also the current concord agreement which limits the sport to 12 teams I think and an entry fee for any new team at $200 million, but obviously the greedy current teams being, well, greedy they think that is no longer a big enough slice.

The teams on paper don't have power to veto however if they all throw a wobbler about it then Liberty Media's product is damaged so it's all just lobbying. It will either end up rejected or most likely the current teams will wangle their way to more millions, as per.

Wouldn't worry. I had Sainz on podium and hes gone and got knocked out of Q2.

So did I, 3rd... fortunately I didn't waste a podium place on Perez after he kept messing my predictions up, think I've put him 5th or 6th

Bit of a disappointing Q3 really with Verstappen, Norris and Hamilton over track limits or losing traction on their last laps.
