F1 2023 Season

Jesus they are such an omnishambles.

So they've fried two sets of control electronics in 1 race weekend. Imagine if it happens again on Sunday.

Funny thing is it's so early in the season they cant even go the whole hog and put an extra engine and extra MGUK in the pool for later.

He'll never leave Ferrari. They will buttfeck him for his entire career. It's really sad, would be even worse if Verstappen wasn't around.

Maybe Lewis and Charles will just swap teams for the hell of it, since they're clearly both sick of where they are.

so thats Leclerc's season already fecked ? only allowed 2 ECU's in a season and already on 3 after just one race, can this last the rest of the season ? How long are they designed to last for ?

Season fecked? Come on, it's just the second race of the season and even if he starts like 14th or something he can easily get a points finish. Ferrari just have to make sure they've fixed the component so it doesn't break down again.

OK fecked was a bit OTT, Thats why was asking.
I know he will get points, thats a given.
I have no idea how many ECU 's are used in a season.

Me neither though the limit of 2 per season suggests not a lot. Not some mechanical component that'll wear a lot. But if you screw something up and you fry two in one race weekend.. yeah you've got yourself a problem that needs fixing as soon as possible.

They should last a long time of course but Ferrari broke 2 sets in one weekend so there has to be some inherent flaw in them.

And also any serious engine blowouts or fires could easily wipe out the electronics.

Leclerc is probably our only hope(and it's just hope more than anything, because realistically this is not possible either) as someone who could possibly challenge Verstappen for the title, so two races already fecked up means that we are probably left only with Alonso, and I really doubt AM will be anywhere near RB for entire season. So I can understand the frustration.

Lewis in a Ferrari that is running right, with reliability and the right strategy would be worth seeing, 2 maybe 3 seasons. But I don't think he will leave Mercedes.
I dont think he will leave Mercedes either, though it would freshen things up, especially if leclerc went to the mercedes seat.

Hopefully it doesn't impact his performance too much though truth be told it could make things more interesting if it did :nervous:
He will still win by a comfortable margin, the car is too good and competition is non existant.

It would be a terrible move for Lewis. Doesn't matter how bad he thinks Mercedes are right now, Ferrari are clearly in a worse state. They've been regressing for a full year just in terms of car competitiveness.

At least Mercedes showed they can still improve their car over a season and not make 20 strategy errors every race.

A very rare one here, but I agree with you 100%

FIA playing games

The FIA has moved back the detection point for Jeddah's third DRS zone until after the track's final corner in a bid to prevent dangerous cat-and-mouse overtaking tactics.

The detection point for the final DRS zone was previously located in the braking area of the Turn 27 hairpin that leads back on to Jeddah's main start/finish straight.

The location led to a tactic by which a driver would suddenly slow on the approach to the hairpin to let a rival through on purpose, to then enjoy the benefit of DRS on the main straight and across the finish line.

Good! DRS chicken was dramatic but dumb.

It basically just means though that whoever overtakes on that final straight before the last corner will most likely get additional DRS to pull ahead on the main straight.

Hamilton is just going to use this season to shit on everything he doesn’t like, he already started with his car, the FIA and now it’s Saudi’s turn. Probably be the only entertainment he gets all year.

Verstappen is so far ahead of the field here he's almost at the next race, he's half a second ahead his team mate and didn't look to be at full tilt on the onboard of the very last lap of FP1.

Not a fan of DRS , just get rid.
I wish this so much. For me DRS overtakes are worth so much less than actual legit overtakes, but then drivers would be stupid / negligent not to take advantage of it. It has devalued one of the most exciting parts of racing.

Yes but before DRS people were moaning overtakes are impossible.

So had 3/4 of a season to enjoy as a Ferrari fan. Back to enjoying the title race from the sidelines.

I know it’s a bit dramatic, but I really don’t believe in that team to turn it around. Hope I’m wrong.

Hopefully Alonso V Max can bring some fun to this season.

Hope Ferrari putting new engines in both their cars isn't just code for 'turned down the engine to stop them blowing up' again.

Mercedes said RedBull are 1.5 seconds a lap faster then them when RB turn everything upto 10. Insane.

So Lewis says he does not feel safe in Saudi the only driver to day so, all the rest say the opposite.
Serious question, is this Lewis telling the truth or him just being a bitch ?
I already know what a few are already typing bitch.
Are the others just toeing the company line, or after last year's year is he genuinely concerned.

Angela Cullen has announced she is leaving Mercedes, I presume after this race thus is a massive blow to Lewis, could this be the beginning of the end ? Again I already know what some if you typing.

I really thought Ferrari would be a lot closer here. Hope they are just saving engines in these sessions.

But then the penalty for Leclerc makes it not much of a factor anyway.
