Fantasy Premier League 18/19

It's crazy that Sterling, scored 229pts last season...only behind Salah and yet only picked by 3.4%. £11m is pricey but he could easily score the same account if not more this season.

I certainly didn't expect him to start last week, otherwise would have thought more about possibly getting him.
He would be a good addition when I get rid of Aguero in a week or two when Jesus starts getting gametime (hope Jesus stays on the bench this week!).

Re: keepers I don't think its necessary to get a big gun in there. I've gone for 2 * 4.5 and will rotate as necessary.

Think its about the squad depth at City and the rotation that will inevitably happen. City attackers are obviously quality but if you're spending 11 pts on a player, he must start every game bar injuries which simply doesnt hold for attackers at City. Think the only 3 outfield players you can rely on starting every game are the FBs and De Bruyne with Fernandinho a close cert.

Yea there is some truth to that. I would not be surprised to see Sterling fall into that bracket this season and play 95% of their games.

Problem with City is knowing who is going to start. The amount of rotation they can do is unreal - having such a pricey player, you need guaranteed starters.

He wasn't expected to play the first match due to being late back from the world cup.
Yes but 3.4% is crazy low, Pogba/KdB/Hazard etc. all selected 4-5x more than him and were not expected to play first match.

His price tag obviously putting a lot of people off, but he if returns a similar number this season it's a steal.

Aguero selected as captain. Guaranteed that Jesus starts.

Same here. I don’t know though, with De Bruyne out I’m pretty sure Pep will want to field his most experienced and reliable players. Kun is pretty much on the top of that list.

Right, I don't know then. He's had a lot of criticism for missing chances, so maybe that's stuck and coloured people's perception. Obviously all we're interested in is points. I started with Sanchez thinking if he seemed crap I could easily switch to the late-back Hazard, but maybe Sterling would be better. It's bleeding painful ain't it?

I am in the same boat as you, looking at Sterling thinking what the hell? He seems an obvious choice.

I think the bad press he had after the World Cup obviously made me doubt him. I have 0.5m in the bank if Sanchez doesn't perform...

Jamie Jackson from the Guardian. Aguero might be dropped.

0 quotes. Just a hunch and it is newsworthy?

Whats his reasoning?

Been a prominent guy on Twitter with seemingly good history related to a Aguero/City who retweeted a post similar to Jacksons.

GW2 and the world is going mad because some previously unknown guy on twitter has retweeted an article with 0 quotes. I wouldn’t have it any other way

If you're gonna have City players that are rotation risk, set and forget and enjoy the points at the end of the season.

Or be me, and don't listen to your own advice and put him as captain.

Who was that other guy last season who had Salah in his pocket besides Ashley Young? Was it Van Aanholt?

Considering captaining Salah tomorrow

Oh ffs... Not this again. Reminds me of last season when sone goon on Twitter said Sterling wouldnt be playing and lo and behold he not only starts but hauls. Now I need to assess if it's worth the risk.

Think it was Pieters from Stoke.

I am dithering about Aubameyang now. A part of me wants to trade him for someone cheaper (Firmino?) and get Azpilicueta in for Alexander-Arnold. If I were sure TAA will play I would keep him for goals and assists but that’s far from guaranteed. Azpi will play when healthy.

Mendy, Robertson and Davies are fix in defense, De Gea in goal. In midfield I am all set on Alli, Salah, the other two are form based and currently occupied by Richarlison and Bernardo Silva (the cheapest of City’s attacking midfielders and has played all the time over Summer). I will keep Tosun in attack and I like Aubameyang but feel someone else should play in his place this week. Vardy?

After the Chelsea game Arsenal face West Ham, Cardiff, Newcastle, Everton, Watford, Fulham, Leicester and Palace. Forget selling Aubameyang, I'd be looking to bring him in.

This was the article. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/aug/17/manchester-city-kevin-de-bruyne-injury

Tbh I've got rid of Sane today. I brought him in because he should have started and an 87th min sub was a huge waste at 9.5m.

I have a feeling he will feature for 20minutes on Sunday and I can't see him doing better than 1 goal or an assist. Eriksen is a banker to play 90mins and he was great against the geordies. Very unlucky not to pick up 2 or 3 assists and he would have picked up MOTM.

I know City will go on a run and win but I just don't like the constant worry about who will feature.

Spurs Man Utd Liverpool Chelsea and Arsenal you can pretty much pick out the gems and 8/10 times they will start.

City you just don't know who's going to get dropped.

Does he punish Aguero for that one mistake of not squaring it to KDB? Would be very harsh IMO he should start, score 1-2 goals and get subbed off around 65-70mins
Will Sane get the nod ahead of Sterling? Doesn't look like it, considering Sterling scored against Arsenal.
Bernado or David? I think Bernado as he looks in great form. Maybe Silva will come in later.

Playing Aguero is a risky manoeuvre. Pep definitely prefers Jesus. The thing is Aguero could not start but still come on and score a couple.

I'm starting to doubt my Aguero selection now to be honest, city is just a minefield to select from, so I might end up getting another defender to add to Mendy, rather than trying to pick two attackers who'll play most of the time.

Good money has to be on Ricarlison getting a few points at home vs Southampton. I'd imagine Mendy's a good option too.

I don't think it is. Aguero is part of that City spine and to drop him at a time when KDB is out would be weird. I'm of the opinion that they can go out and smash most teams with whatever they put out but at this stage of the season when it's important to rack up the wins I don't think it would be a good time to tinker.

I went for the 3 up front approach and I still think keeping atleast 2 of their attackers bodes well. You don't know how their next 3-4 games will pan out.

What if they have to play against 10men parked behind the half way line every week? They might not win so emphatically(highly doubt it) but with KDB out it adds an extra element of uncertainty. Give it another week or 2.

I have two City defenders. Might even consider bringing in Ederson to go with a City defensive block.

.

Agree, it's only game 2. Too early to be messing about with rotations really. Look at Aguero's stats, 20 goals for the last however many seasons!
I think Pep had a brief spell where he favoured Jesus, but quickly realised what he has in Aguero, even if he is lesser of a player than a few years back.

Leaving my team alone this week.
No kneejerks on the 5mill midfielders who scored last week, and I had Richarlison and Shaw.

Monitoring Mina, potentially for when Shaw inevitably falls back out of favour.
Nervous about Bernado Silva, and have to work out how Kane/Auba might fit in, as well as seeing if Firmino and Eriksen are going to score enough to justify their places this year.

Have a "Hunch" that Vestagard for Southampton could score a few goals, so have him starting away at Everton tomorrow. Means 12 point (on bench!) Wan Bissaka for Palace again stays there, but surely they can't keep Liverpool out.

Gone Aguero captain. I’d be more angry not picking him and him scoring a hat trick.

I thought about letting him go for this round of games and bringing him back next week. Then again I would probably need to give up on one of my other big players which I don’t want to do now.

Hope he grabs a goal tomorrow. Over the course of season I expect him to get 20 & 10, maybe better.

I think Bernardo Silva could turn out to be a gem, especially with KDB injury. At £7.5m it was a no brainer if he’s going to play.
