Fergie eyeing January deals

Davis and N'Zogbia? No thanks.

Davis is top quality. he actually plays better in the big matches.

n'zogbia seems promising so far.

Davis is not good enough to get into the Villa team at the moment. He's promising but has some way to go. We can do better.

N'Zogbia is neither quite a winger nor quite a left-back. Tidy footballer, but will never be good enough for the very top level.

I'd rather we went for more promising players.

Steve Davis would be worth a sniff. Seems like ONeill prefers his old boy Petrov instead. He'd be an excellent backup to Scholes and Carrick

Smith > Davis

I wouldn't go that far. Geebs has a soft spot for him, though.

Smith > Davis

youre having a laugh

O'Neill clearly has a thing for his ex-celts, though Petrov is a good player.

you guys want to watch videos of the Norn Ireland matches that Davis has played to see what he can achieve with the right man coaching him. He made the difference against England, bossed the Spanish, excellent against the Danish etc

Destined for bigger things than Villa

The thing with Davis is that he is a young lad. He would need some time to adapt, to get into the team. Maybe a full summer practise. Buying him in january, the fans would expect mirracles from him. I can see it very well: Why the hell SAF bought just another Miller?

He was actually very good against United last year.

PX Smithy for Davis

Davis would be a handy player, but his size is off putting, and his footballing lacks panache although that could develop, splendid little worker though, good all rounder, kind of like that Makoun character Fergie seems to have some kind of fondness for and he has also been linked to Davis of course.

We best not get Davis. Christ even Fletcher would have got inot Villa's first 11 last season and hes partial to a good game at international level. N'Zogbias a bit shit from what I have seen an' all. Well not shit, but I've not seen anything very special about him

And Agbonlahor. They can get Rich as well then :D

Yes, that Agbo lad is class...weird as it sounds, he seems an Arsenal type player.

Rich would be ideal for Villa.

we dont need a midfielder, Scholes and Carrick are proving they can work together. Bringing in a purely defensive midfielder would upset the balance.

we do however need to bring in a forward and a wide player to give a better depth to the backup

I disagree, if we want to play a 442 we need 3-4 top midfielders, now giggs can cover but apart from that, i dont see any good replacements. What happens if we lose carrick or scholes for 5-6 games. We drop points. Yesterday was a glaring example of why we need a DM, if we could have brought one on in the second half, we could have wrestled some dominance of Chelsea who where over running us in midfield.. In my opinion we need three players... Of course whether we can get them is another matter!

Ps. Bent is not good enough, he has no real quality in general game terms. A excellent runner and finisher tho..

Davis is not a bad player, O'Neill likes his players big and strong. The guy has played ok for northern Ireland recently I thought. Perhaps not full United quality tho. However certainly better then playing Oshea or Richardson in there..

Do we really need new players? Or is it about showing the money... we're on top of the league ffs!

:wenger:

We want to be there also in may...

In a word yes...

We are top of the league while playing our best 11. What happens if some of the vital players get injured or tired. Are we just gonna play Ronney and Ronaldo in 65 games this season!

IF we go for players in the transfer window, it will be rather for young talents than established players

And your basing this on...?
Which established and class player would leave his club in january? Afterwards, he could not play in the Champions League. And the past proved that such players hardly move during the transfer window

I think we need 3 decent additions to the squad:-

Midfielder
Hargeaves / Reo Coker

Winger
SWP / J.Cole

Striker
Torres / Bent
I'd be happy with one or two squad players you are expecting a 60m recruitment of players. Very unlikely

saf was closely monitoring his situation a year back...

but if we got the trio of reo coker, SWP and bent it'd be more like £30-40 ;)

What's all this talk about Bent...He simply is not a Manchester United Player.
Big fish in a small pond and he's good but simply does not have the class to play for us.
We need to strengthen midfield preferably an up and coming young player.
Or two.....
And obvioulsy we need more quality back up in forward areas.

Do you think any super celebrity aka Torres would be pleased to be our "quality back up" ?

Established players that are unhappy at their club!!

Reo- Coker is probably not leaving West Ham. They have just gotten a new owner and will probably spend quite a bit in january.
