French League - 'Ligue 1' 2016/17 | AS Monaco Champions!

Manchester United, Norwich, Brighton & Bayern Munich watching Diego Rolan
Manchester United, Norwich, Brighton and Bayern Munich had scouts in Bordeaux yesterday to watch their Ligue 1 encounter with Nantes, according to RMC.

The French media outlet reports that the clubs were there because of their interest in Uruguayan international striker Diego Rolan.

Bordeaux bosses have announced that they have not received an offers for Rolan and that he will be staying at the club.

Frank McCourt is the new owner of Olympique de Marseille!

According to our colleagues at RMC, former LA Dodgers owner Frank McCourt is the new owner of Olympique de Marseille.

Margarita Louis Dreyfus will make the announcement officially in the next 20 minutes after she and the new owner finish their meeting with the Mayor of Marseille.

Frank McCourt’s ownership of the Dodgers ended in 2011 when Major League Baseball seized the team from him due to finance concerns. McCourt was only able to buy the Dodgers in the first place thanks to a large loan from Fox Entertainment Group with his wife and problems were arising all the time about McCourt’s lack of cash.

The team was ultimately seized from McCourt during the divorce process he was undergoing with his then wife.

RMC claim that the American owner has enormous ambitions and wants to re-install Marseille as France’s number one club.

McCourt is understood to have paid north of €40m to buy the club.

All parties hope that the sale of Marseille to McCourt will be ratified before the end of 2016.

Great to see Al-PSG lose this weekend.

You guys who think that Abu Dhabi Athletic and Chelski are plastic should realise that they're 100% platinum compared to Al-PSG....

For the good of French football, I hope someone can give them a serious challenge.

David Luiz is really something. You'd think he put money on conceding a penalty.

PSG with only 1-1 draw against St.Etienne yesterday......maybe the season will be more interesting as we all have thought.

Don't think so, they are bound to have some feck-ups here and there. But they also have too much quality over the rest of the league.

A slow start was expected since new manager, no Ibra and new players.

Be interesting to see how PSG do in the CL this season - which is the ultimate aim of the owners - to me they have a weaker squad than last year - not quite understanding their logic as can't possibly see them improving on last season with the current manager and players.

"Maybe the season will be more interesting as we all have thought" = PSG are champions in April and not already in February ;)

Interesting lineup for Nice. Good to see Sarr continues to start. Would have been a bit harsh (though understandable) for him to be benched after the signing of Dante.

Nice has a ridiculous squad, close to 40 pros
Yeah, crazy keeper situation too with the fans not, erm, fans of Cardinale or Hassen.

Marseille's squad turnover has been ridiculous. So many changes.

Haven't much of Hassen but Cardinale has always been amusing (a little porky too)
Doesn't look that tall either. I know some smaller rounder goalkeepers have been known as some of the best but still strikes me as a bit strange to not have a big goalkeeper in goal. Cardinale is apparently the same height as Blind.

Nice beating Marseille in a frantic derby 3-2, Balotelli with a penalty and another goal, late winner for Nice involving a GK blunder. What a game. Favre

Delighted with the result too. But I had the impression that Nice's players and the team as a whole have a very long way to go in order to live up to Favre's football ideals. But he's only been there a couple of weeks now, of course.

Balotelli still has so much to offer, I really hope he does a late, late Reus (or at least Kruse) under Favre's guidance.

Delighted for Balotelli, hopefully he can keep it up. Time to keep his head down and focus on his football, this season is really do or die for him.

Lyon is leading 3:1 against Montpellier. Tolisso with one goal, Fekir with the others. Rafael is playing well. Sanson with the goal for Montpellier. Nice are leading Monaco with 2:0.

2 more goals for Balotelli and Lyon up to 5-1. Ligue 1 is looking genuinely fairly interesting so far.

Balotelli's started off excellently to be fair to him. I hope he does well there and sorts himself out - he doesn't seem like a bad/nasty guy, just pretty dumb. Plus it'd annoy the scousers if he became a good player.

Wow, Monaco absolutely destroyed. Interesting seeing Nice adapt to 352

Ricardo Pereira seems to be very good player. If we really are looking for a right-back, we should definitely be looking at him.

And don't care how he fits in, but I really want us get Tolisso. He's started the season brilliantly.

Toulouse keeper made his debut a year ago when he was 16 . He wouldn't look out of place in middle school.
