Fustrating half, been quite wasteful with the ball but have retained them well.

Melo is running the game............and I don't mean in any football kind of way.
Good first half from us. We really weathered the early storm and after that its been all us. For me the pick of the bunch has been Tom Cleverley everything positive we've done basically started with a pass from him and his ability to play the ball to a teammate under pressure has come in really handy tonight. You can see by the fact Melo tries to flatten Tom every time he gets near the ball that the Galatasaray players have sussed he's the man to take out if they want to disrupt our play. For me Cleverley's had some very strong moments in this half.
This is good fun. Dodgy at the back, exciting enough going forward. As it should be.
Felipe Melo can feck off the twat. Gala have been the most dirtiest team I've seen in recent times. Our performance has been a bit pleasing.
Decent first half in terms of our play in general even if we haven't created much. I think Cleverley and Powell have done well and Welbeck has looked lively. Buttner has shown a more mature side to his game tonight.

Powell has been exciting. Really looking forward to the 2nd half. Despite no goals the game has been very entertaining

Entertaining match, great football. We're doing very well indeed, unlucky not to be narrowly ahead. Really great concentration in some difficult defensive situations too, that's been good to see. No real weak links, all the lads have been good.
Refereeing has been poor. No massive wrong decisions, but lots of little fouls and card missed. Melo should be on at least yellow by now.

Very good half and very good defending. Why on earth can't we play a midfield like this in our PL away matches instead of the nonsense we play with our out of form wingers?
Ref doing his best to keep this an even contest. Galatasaray should be 10 on the pitch at most and had a dozen of bookings, but instead they now know that they can dive in to tackles however they want with no consequence.
Powell looks very very good though. Can't wait to see more of him in "proper" games.

Gala have been pressing like a bunch of madmen and we look like we have been trying to hit the forwards long. I do feel that we have been trying too many Hollywood balls though, Powell especially seems to have watched Stevie G quite a lot when he was growing up.
All things considered: it was a decent half. Gala will tire in the second and we didn't concede, we can go on and win from here. I just hope that SAF leaves Powell on.

Quite happy with that. I'd like to move the ball a little quicker at times, but we've done well.
Agreed, that willowy build is the difference between Kaka's early career and Anderson's early career. His strength looks fine, absolutely no reason to bulk up and risk ruining himself.

Agree. Just need to keep our composure for the final pass and we'll nick this one. Pleased with what I've seen given the inexperience and rustiness of some of the lads.

Yup, but it's not so bad relative to the match in general. Gala have made it scrappy, but they've been far worse than us.
I'd be interested to know Cleverley's pass completion so far, if you have it.

Agreed. I think at the start of the game he was trying a bit too hard to impress. I like however that as the game has gone on he has shown his sense of timing and positioning to make good runs into the box. Reminds me a bit of Frank Lampard Jr in his West Ham days. With a bit more experience and a sense of when to play it and when to go short he'll prove to be a nice catch for us.
