The last episode of the last series was the best episode on that series. It was also disappointing though.

They called all their banners during the War of the Five Kings and lost everyone at the Red Wedding. They then later got slaughtered at the Battle of the Bastards (down to nearly the last man) and then slaughtered some more in the war against the Night King. An entire house was lost completely when the Last Hearth was taken.
Yet there's thousands of Northern troops outside the city. This is the same North which has a very small, spread out population (Jon says Kings Landing holds more people than the entirety of the North) and we know one of their major houses straight up refused to march with Jon and one of the other major houses (Boltons) were also wiped out.

Apparently HBO wanted 20 episodes to wrap the show up but D&D said no and settled on 6 longer ones because they wanted to work for Disney on Star Wars and Trek.

Jesus Christ, just finished watching it and all the while I was hoping if HBO pulled a parody on everyone and they'll release the original version later. That was horrible.
I have my problems with this series, but there is nothing inconsistent with Bran's statement about wanting nothing anymore and becoming King. The point is that he knew what would and had happened and therefore what was to be was to be. Therefore, desire is meaningless.
I’m not even that bothered with how it ended, it just felt like they drew up their storyboards and didn’t bother to fill in any of the gaps.
We still only have Brans say on what his powers and motivations though. For all we know he's lied and has a Dr Strange type power where he can foresee different outcomes and has always chosen the outcome that ends with him being the King. This is how I'll interpret GoT ending anyway, him being a Littlefinger type character outplaying everyone in the show would be a fantastic finish. If you challenge this theory i'll eat your soul as it's the only way i'm able to enjoy this finale.

It would've been cool if in a post-credits sequence it showed Drogon landing somewhere far away with Dany, and laying her down next to some Children of The Forest, who had been tracking this from afar. Dany opens her eyes and her pupils are blue - she's the new Night Queen. Wasn't the Night King made in the same way by a dagger through the heart? Showing that not much has changed in reality.
Well, the original Night King host was alive. Daenerys was dead. Not sure if sticking a dagger would have worked. *shrugs*
