Definitely. J.K. Rowling wrote 7 Harry Potter books in about a decade and helped with the films for the latter half of that time and she was a less experienced writer than he is. GRRM is obviously not going to finish the books but for some reason refuses to admit it.

HBO must have thought he'd have the books finished but instead the series ran out of rail because he'd published nothing in that time and the show was forced to create an ending out of thin air.

Interesting. The general consensus is that the first few seasons were cracking. Anyway, Sean Bean went out pretty much when he was supposed to, going by the pacing of the books.

Honestly I assumed that other poster was kidding. The first seasons were obviously great and I've no idea how an actor would realise after filming a few episodes that the thing was rubbish.

I thoroughly enjoyed the comeuppance they had losing Star Wars. Completely unprofessional finish to GoT and the irony was delicious.

That's the part that bothers me. I have sympathy over how GRRM screwed them but they rushed the ending too. Between his refusal to publish anything and their refusal to take their time, the ending got screwed.

Yeah, a number of comments and questions came to mind, but I couldn’t be arsed getting into it. If the first seasons are poorly written and have bad acting then I wonder how on earth they managed to persist watching all the way till the end

There's definitely a tendency for some people to be really contrarian and insist that popular things aren't good as if it's proof of their great taste. I'm sure there's some posters here that would insist the Simpsons peaked after the 4th episode. We can only guess what they think is actually good.

Why the hell did you watch the whole thing? Seems like if you thought it was as awful as your saying you think it is that you'd just stop after the first season? Such an odd thing to do. Sounds like fantasy type shows aren't your thing.

I live in a firsts floor flat, with just a cat for company, and it was pissing down virtually all week!

I'm not judging, I'd just go absolutely mad after watching entire Game of Thrones in a week.

Can someone explain to me how a dragon resurrected turns into a dragon that spews ice, manages to make a hole in a wall made of ice ?
You go through a whole programme of the walkers killing everything in their path, only for a diminutive female to appear from nowhere, perform acrobatics like an Olympic gymnast and defeat the whole arm with possibly the smallest piece of "dragonglass" she could find ?

For me an issue was the undead Dragon destroyed the mystical magical wall with no issue. But Jon Snow managed to hide behind a normal hill of Stones numerous times.

The plot point that the Night King and the white walkers were able to produce a giant, probably kilometres long iron chain, and have it attached to a dragon in the bottom of a frozen lake in the span of a few days, with no means of production whatsoever, still lives rent free in my head.

This was so incredibly stupid. Especially because they had previously showed us that the Night King dude can turn corpses into wights by simply raising his hands. He didn't have to touch them previously. So they could have had a cool scene where he does that next to the lake and then the dragon busts through the ice.

The visual of the NK raising his arms and the dragon popping his head out of the ice/water could have been awesome. Or not even showing the dragon but just some godzilla shit where you see the blue fire shoot out the water. Or something else. I dunno.
im guessing D&D did what they did because they wanted the visual of the eye opening. But couldnt think of a better way than just some wights which cant swim or dont go into the water (as established earlier in the episode) somehow going into the water to chain up the dead dragon

I also someone speculate that they didn't go with the dragon breaking through the ice, because it could be seen as ripping off the cinematic from World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, but I really doubt that they are aware of it and would refrain from stealing it.

Something that has always bugged me about the later seasons of Game of Thrones was how seemlingly unserious D&D were about it in some ways. The constant cock jokes, putting Ed Sheeran in the show, casting someone from a show they like even though that person barely speak English, etc. And who can forget "Dany kinda forgot about the iron fleet".

That was crazy, it was blatantly obvious they didn't give a shit about the show anymore, particularly the taller cnut (don't know which D he is). I don't consider myself a fan per se (I've seen the series once and read the books once), and I don't normally take personal offense when something I don't like happens in entertainment products I follow, but apart from unprofessional, their attitude was sort of disrespectful towards millions of people who had invested hundreds of hours in that universe. Maybe they were just taking the piss to disguise the fact that they simply didn't have the talent to produce better original content.

It's also a bit sad that trainwreck is the only ending we are going to get, as I'm 100% sure no more books are going to be published, at least written solely by GRRRRRRRM.
