Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

I think Julio Cesar was to blame. He was virtually asleep and just stood there. The first one was laughable, he could've easily saved it if he'd made any effort.

I think Rooney would have stayed if we made a big name signing like Bale this summer. In seasons past we would be excited about snapping him up. I think Man City will definitely be looking to make a bid for this kid next summer. If Fergie can get Rodwell and Bale then the Rooney stuff will be quickly forgotten!

With still 2.5 weeks of the transfer window left when he dropped this bombshell, whats to say we weren't going to sign the likes of Bale during this time. The 'ambition' excuse doesnt add up

The natural successor to Giggs.

sadly, only for Wales.

Quality player who should be playing for us. Went for 10 million to spurs as well. Talk about value.

Bale is class. He has just anounced himself on the world stage.

Best attacking left back in the world.

Only he played left wing, like every time he plays well. And in fact all this great form has come since he was bumped forward and didnt have to worry about defending.

No longer a left back. Worlds best left footed left sided winger... is a possible objective for him to achieve, the last player to be worthy of that accolade was Giggs in my opinion.

Is there a video of his goal?

Too much lolling going on in this thread. This is not fecking funny.

I will carry the fee from Manchester to London a quid at a time to get him.

I'd love to see Bale at United. He's no left-back though - he's a left-sided midfielder to me.

I swear to god he scored a goal last season and if you didn't know who you were watching and squinted your eyes a touch, you would have said you'd just been watching Ronaldo.

This is the type of player we should be buying, imo.

I dunno where it leaves us as regards the Valencia/Nani situation though.

We're crying out for a natural left sided player as successor to Giggs, giving us natural width on both flanks. Bale could fill the left midfield void for the next 10 years forseeably (and sort out our hopeless set pieces conveniently). With him in tandem with Nani/Valencia on the other flank the service to the front men would be absolutely unbelievable. You wouldn't even need a world class frontman to replace Rooney in this case as even Emile Heskey would even be prolific with that service.

Young, super talented and british. My dream signing.

Valencia would be unlikely to challenge either for a place in the side for quite a while. There are few examples of players who came back from long injuries like his and got back to the same level without a significant amount of time working hard on the pitch.

It was a good time making fun of Bale during 'the streak', but he's turned out to be quite a tidy player. When he first started having his run of form, I figured he was just having a good spell and that was about it. Now though, if we signed him, I certainly wouldn't be against it.

He's a cracking player but let's face it, it was shitty Italian defending tonight. He ran from halfway for the first without a single tackle going in. He's a very good finisher though definitely way above sp*rs quality.

3 goals against the European champions at their ground pretty good if you ask me being a man down...

He's definitely a player we could do with - especially given Giggsy's hamstring problems.

Would he really? Because he was being serious. He would literally carry the fee from Manchester to London, one pound at a time.

the perfect successor of Giggs, would cost a fortune though

4-4-1-1, Nani behind Berbatov.

Stick Charles N'zogbia on that Spurs' left flank and he will put in similar performances. Bale is a good player who has just been in form since about February.
