Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

Redknapp appears to be saying Bale is in the next tier down from Ronaldo and Messi, Thomas is saying he's on the same level.

"I've seen the best. I've seen Ronaldo; I've seen them all. He's on a par with them now."

"The only difference is they play for Barcelona with players like Messi. He's at Tottenham".

Redknapp's crazy. Its insane how a top level manager can think Bale's as good as Ronaldo or Messi. Insane.

 he's obviously been hitting the crack pipe again. Thats a mental statement from him, theres nobody on the planet thats actually close to Ronaldo & Messi, the rest are all a rung below them on the ladder.

I'm sorry how can someone like Redknapp who has worked in top flight football for decades think that Bale is as good as Messi and Ronaldo  This man was almost the England manager :wenger: The Bale hype is odd though, he does nothing for months, then has a good game and all this nonsense starts.

I think its clear from the text that there is no implication he is on the same level as Ronaldo & Messi....he doesn't say that. The "he's after" comment to me pretty much implies that Harry feels he is on the way to attaining that level....whether he gets there is a matter of opinion of course.

It's Thomas who is the fecking crackpot....he actually states Bale is on a par with them right now...which is utter bollocks and totally unnecessary hyperbole that the player cannot possibly live up to at the moment.

On the Valencia comparisons as much as I like Luis Antonio I feel Bale is going to streak ahead of him in the next 2 years. He needs consistency of course but he has the potential to be an absolutely immense player. He is becoming effective centrally as well as providing width, and developing the weapons he has in his game. If and when he becomes available I hope United see the wisdom in investing in his signature.

Those who label him as purely a "speed merchant" are in some sort of denial. He is clearly much much more than that.

What. The. Living. feck.

Bale is not even on Rooney's level let alone a notch below Messi and Ronaldo. He hasn't even reached the level of Giggs, Lampard, and Scholes, or even Gerrard.

Maybe if you had a player at the level of Messi or Ronaldo you'd still be in a job, Harry.

You see now why I'm so critical? Bloody hell Redknapp

Where's your chimp faced, diving, world beater now Redknapp?

Balebalebale balebalebale balebalebale balebalebale balebalebale balebalebale balebalebale

Liam147 will have something to say about that

I've not watched the game, but will be sure to tune in to the highlights later.

Will you then tell us that Bales performance is the best you've ever seen at international level?

Might wanna bale out of this thread.

Speaking of which, Greece could do with another Bale-out.

Mmm debatable. I'd say he is about the same level as Giggs was when he was 23.

The others are not really direct comparisons. Bale can do things Lampard can never do for instance.

Didn't watch it tonight. Saw the first 15 minutes or so when he had the ball once. I also heard the presenter when summing up the Wales/Scotland game refer to Bale's performance as 'world class', but he was probably wrong too.

You have no idea what kind of international football I've watched. Outside of the tournaments from the WC 2002 (which I remember barely any of) onwards, it's been England's games, and that's about it. England have never been so bad that one player in a Robson/Gascoine/Maradona(?)esque manner has been able to bail (npi) them out. Same applies for tournament football. Rarely is a team very poor, yet lifted by one player's performance. We've been over this. My post was originally poorly worded, yet you seem to fail to look past that and read any sort of clarification.

Anyway, not getting into this again.

did Bale just not fancy taking Croatia on by himself tonight? or was there a premature ejaculation to his scoring 2 against a woeful side

Boo hoo hoo. The bad men are criticizing Gareth!:(:(:(

You are a tad peculiar!

You are not actually criticising him either....just giving him bare shit. Criticism is something that is supposed to be constructive.

You're not seriously suggesting Scotland are anywhere near as good as Croatia are you?

He obviously has no idea about Crotia's record of just one loss in 46 home qualifying matches.

Easy to sidestep that I suppose when you have a clear agenda.

Did anyone actually see Bale tonight? He caused quite a lot of trouble given he's playing in an absolutely hopeless team.

While I didn't see the game, it wouldn't surprise me. It's a bit hypocritial from people here as well slating him for it. If what you say is true and some people said what they're saying here in the Nani thread, they'd be ripped apart.

It wasn't some kind of magnificent display, but he took on their full backs on his own, won free kicks very high up the pitch, had a shot just wide from distance, etc. It was really as much as anyone could do with zero support without taking on the entire team and scoring a wonder goal.
