Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

Bale on the left would make us have proper width on both wings. It's like having a left footed Valencia on the other side.

Yeah but one of our main problems atm is that we lack versatility in attack, we need more players who can pose a threat from wide areas as well as coming inside. Getting Bale on the left as good as he is, particularly with Valencia on the right would make us even more limited in our attacking threat.

He was invisible and the few times he had the ball he tried some Ronaldo-esque impossible shots. He's too big headed and needs to be brought down a level or two, he should focus on the kinda he was a couple of years ago and stop trying to be a savior

Exactly. I dont want him here, specially for the amounts Levy would want. Will make our play even more predictable.

Yep, tries far too many fancy stuff when he doeesnt have the game for it yet. Believes his own hype.

His head is so full of these daft comparisons to Ronaldo that he's had his ears pinned back, his hair styled and tries to cut in and shoot like him. Only trouble is he's Gareth fecking Bale. A better than average winger.

i can't see past that. Thinks he's ronaldo, but with about 5% of the talent. Too ball greedy, just see's his own name in lights any time he gets close to the goal. Poor performance, and his lack of tracking back let Maicon go clear a number of times.

Just what we don't need then. It's already been raised how it looks like Valencia won't fit our new versatile system so why would we want another out-and-out winger on the other flank? We should be looking at ambidextrous wingers/wide forwards if we want to make the most of Kagawa's mobility.

Most of the time he isn't better than average winger. For example, his todays performance was nothing better than Young's yesterday's.

Valencia is Ronaldo and Messi packed in once comparing him to Bale.

Bale was always going to be exhausted today against City having played a full game on Thursday night in the Europa league. I was pissed off to see him play that full game on Thursday night as it gave City a huge advantage today. He was knackered. I thought Spurs would get rolled over today having played another game so soon before...they gave it a good go

Going far too much to the other extreme there. There's not much difference between Bale and Valencia when they both stick to doing what they do best, being out and out wingers.

To be honest, Ronaldo hasn't been any better than Bale over the last few months. Some of you need to lay off him.

18 goals in 16 games, Bale with 4 in 11. Yeah, it's clear their form is dead even.

He was invisible and the few times he had the ball he tried some Ronaldo-esque impossible shots. He's too big headed and needs to be brought down a level or two, he should focus on the kinda he was a couple of years ago and stop trying to be a savior

Yeah, he broke down their attacks a few times. He needs to stick to what he;s good at, smashing the ball 5 yards ahead of him then chasing it. All this cutting in, taking shots from 30 yards, attempting skills and flicks. It's just a nonsense. Believe's his own hype.

Was mostly referring to his performances, rather than just stats.

Yeah, but you are one helluva player when you can show stats like that when off form. That's the thing, Ronaldo goes on and off form; when he is on form he is ridiculously good - scores bags of goals and plays amazingly too. When he is off form, he doesn't play as well, but still scores a lot of goals. Not many players can say that.

When Bale is off form he is worse than Valencia off form, no doubt. I also think his pace is a bit overrated - certainly no faster than Valencia.

Valencia yesterday put one of his worst performances for United, and it was still better than Bale's today, who had his average performance he puts every third or four games.

Even if stats aren't taken into account (tbh they're an integral part of football), only a blind man would say that Ronaldo hasn't been better than Bale.In every single aspect of the game bar pure acceleration, Ronaldo has been better than Bale.Like I said, you can't separate the great stats from Ronaldo, they make him who he is.
Bale a couple of years ago was a really exciting player, full of pace, his game was simple but more efficient than today's.

Bale is trying too hard to emulate Ronaldo's game. He's trying the 'shoot on sight' approach that Ronaldo takes these days, but he doesn't realise that his shooting is not even half as good as Ronnie's. There was one time yesterday where he was in a position to cross and instead decided to shoot. I laughed at his desperateness. He needs to focus on what he's actually good at: taking people on with his pace and acceleration.

That's what I had in mind too Freak and where he shot from, if it was from on the other side, then him making taking a pop would make sense as he would have been cutting in.
The angle was ridiculous and even more so when he had several other possibilities around him.I never truly believed Bale was trying to be another player but yesterday's match just about convinced me

What? As much as I hate the Bale overhype too much, like Harry does, I have to say I'd swap Bale now for Valencia and pay Antonios train ticket!!! Love Valencia but Bale does what he does, IE. pace and cross plus is a regular goal threat.

Exactly. If he really wanted to be a 'shoot-on-sight' type of player, then his manager should consider putting him on the right where he can cut in onto his left, like what Robben does at Bayern. I can't imagine what his teammates must have been thinking when he did that shot yesterday. I think he's getting too big for his boots, and he's not even achieved anything yet.

Edit: In reply to Kouroux.

Also at some point he was up against Maicon in a 1v1 but the way they were both positioned, it was impossible for him to try to outpace him (Maicon was a bit too far from him) but he still tried. He lost the ball stupidly

Bale is far more inconsistent.

Valencia was our best player last season, and yet you would want him replaced by someone who's been hyped up because of one great performance against an attacking fullback (Maicon), just because he's out of form now? Clueless..

I bet if you asked the main man himself he'd swap his Valencia for AVB's Bale any day of the week, he snap his hand off and so would I. Not slating Valencia at all, he's been very good for us but he hasn't always been able to hold his spot in the team, be it starting or the correct position, Bale would IMO. Plushe's 4 years younger so more time to improve.

Valencia plus points:
Crazy pace,
Crossing
Hard work
Taking people on

Bales + :
Silly Pace,
Crossing
Shooting,
Finishing
Taking people on
Direct danger to a team

That's pretty much how I see it. Bale is Valencia but with goals/fear for other teams.

I think your clueless mate, clueless for thinking SAF wouldn't swap Valencia for Bale in a heart beat, because you damn well know he would, so would most of our fans deep down. But when a player is a United player, you defend him with bias and he's always better than the other teams ones. Doubt AB would swap Bale for Valencia though.

Are you Sir Alex in disguise that you know what he's thinking? I'm not being biased. I'm just looking at the facts. Valencia swept all our club's end of the season awards last season. Bale hasn't even won any of Spurs' player of the season awards. If he's so good, how come Parker was given that honour last season and (Scott fecking Parker, seriously?) and Modric the season before? Bale has potential no doubt, but I would not swap him with Valencia at the moment.

Are you on a piss take or something? Direct danger to a team? His shooting isn't even that great!

Most professional sports people have limited appeal - Gareth Bale scores in a wide range of categories and offers huge commercial benefits to whoever he plays for.

What nonsense. Valencia is far more consistent than Bale has ever been. His crossing also is better than Bale's. What Bale provides is bit of more goal threat.

No way would i swap the 2. Bale is potentially better than Valencia but Valencia is comfortably the better performer atm. Much more consistent for a start which is a big plus.

I was pointing out the extreme hyperbole in your previous post Amar. Ronaldo Messi combined etc etc..

Bale , on his day, can be destructive. But he is inconsistent. One in five games is a cracker.
Valencia is more unpretentious and efficient. A master in three out of five games.

Bale has more pace, and constantly beats defenders and cuts in to the danger area. And a shameless diver to boot.

Valencia, of late, gets isolated in corners, and has to depend much on Rafa's availability to pass the ball back.

Valencia and Bale are both really quick and can run with the ball well. However Valencia is much better when it comes to crossing and intercepting. Bale can score and is more confident than Valencia. I'd have Bale over our other options on the left.

And I'd rather have Valencia as a fullback than Bale.

Both have too much pace for any LB in the prem. Both are good crossers too. Neither are great at dribbling and are just hit and run players imo who'd struggle without their pace. Not what i'd associate with good dribblers.

The only aspect where Bale is better than Valencia is his finishing. But, Valencia being the much more consistent player and the fact that they're wingers and not strikers mean i'd always have valencia over bale.

But, he's much younger and if he gets his head down, focuses on improving himself rather than believing his own hype and fecking things up, he'l end up the better player imo. He has time on his side.

Bale also has better delivery: crosses, free kicks and corners. Valencia is more consistent. I think Bale would become every bit as good as Valencia if he were to move to a better club like United.
