Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

...speaking with Geoff Shreeves right now.

"Gareth, a great goal, but you've only got one living grandparent, tell us how that feels."

Has he got Ronaldo size potential? I'm beginning to think so.

Hope he fecks off to Spain soon.

What a goal, 2-2 away from in injury time and he pulls that out.

From the free kicks, number of shots he takes, transition from winger to a 'free role' player, ability to win games on his own he is showing the kind of form Ronaldo showed when he was beginning to emerge as a true world class player.

That's it - sell Rooney, sign Balooney.

Its pretty clear he's one of the top players in the world at the moment, starting to show real consistency and a game winner. Wonder where he'll end up, moneys gotta be on Madrid

They can afford him but where would he play? Instead of Di Maria on the right?

Should we be able to go for him he'd be almost guaranteed a start

It's fecking Madrid they don't care, can't see Bale at Tottenham too long.

Just keeps on getting better and better. Unfortunately the hype is ridiculous, but he's one of the best wingers in the world on current form and has been one of the best players in the league this season. While I'd have had to think about whether I'd sign him or not previously, I'd take him in a heartbeat now. Developing to be much better than Valencia and has been playing a lot better than Nani for a good while now.

Watching him these last few weeks only goes to highlight even more the amazing job Jones and Rafael did on him when we played them.

Dunno. Can he stand still like Valencia, or beat a man 36 times when once would do, like Young?

I remember Juninho doing that particular stance well before Ronaldo even started taking free kicks though. It is said that the likes of Ronaldo and Drogba copied Juninhos style of taking free-kicks, although Bale has gone as close since he is capable of taking curling free kicks too. Add to that his ability to defend, his ability to take corners, he is the complete package at the moment.

I know, but I was joking after that free kick that ended in row Z(ronaldo style). :D

He's been streets ahead of Rooney this season, i'm struggling to remember the last time Rooney looked world class if I'm honest.

Football fans in 'month long memory' shocker. Actually that applies to the Bale fans more generally. Just because he's world class now doesn't mean you were right to claim he was six months ago, when he, y'know, wasn't.

He's not really a winger though, is he? On tonight's evidence at least. Holtby and Sigurdsson mainly provided the width on the left for Spurs.

Muppetry aside for a minute - sinful I know, sorry about that :nervous: - but I hope Spurs keep hold of him for next season. In a league where sugar daddies are doing so much damage, I actually like seeing Spurs doing so well, and he's the main part of that right now.

That's me banned, isn't it? :(

I always stated he's over rated, and I think he was.

I think he's actually grown into the player people have hyped him up to be.

This is where I am at also. Thought he was good, but never as good as the hype. Now there is no way at all I can say that.

Can the Spurs get and keep enough talent around him to seriously challenge for titles? Or will he be tempted away by Real Madrid or perhaps PSG or even a PL team (City, Chelsea, or United)?

How long will he give Spurs to build a title contending club?

At this point Spurs can certainly get a ship load (as opposed to a boat load) of cash for him, which if spent right could still have them seriously challenging for trophies.

If Real Madrid do part with Ronaldo this summer, then certainly they will come knocking for Bale.

Summer 2014.

Giggs will sadly but likely retire. If Bale does end up leaving Tottenham, I think this will be the most likely Summer to do it (assuming Spurs don't finish top 2 or something silly.)

Could be fate.

2 or 3 years ago, we all laughed at how shit he was at left back and how funny it was that Spurs couldn't win a game anytime he was on the pitch...

Amazing how things change

Surely City will go in for him, unless they're actively curtailing their spending?

I don't envy the man who has to negotiate with Levy.

Player of the Year?

He'll likely win it because he's hit top form just as the voting happens. It's bollocks, but better than Suarez winning it for the greatest season of flat-track bullying I've ever seen.

Welsh sport is back, folks: Swansea City, Gareth Balenaldo, and Shirley Bassey at the Oscars.

The way he easily walks past players, when he's on the ball, is quite something.

Player of the Year?

Knowing the voting system and the way it often can work, this would end up being the season he doesn't get nominated or something despite it being his best season by far. Should definitely be a prime contender though.

Errr...Suarez has been brilliant and one of the best players in the league this season, carrying Liverpool on his back at times. Flat-track bully is nonsense.

Not too shabby...

Look at Adebayor in that gif. Couldn't care less that a 35 yard screamer has been scored in the 90th minute

He's such a pointless player. Only very rarely will actually try his hardest and doesn't give a shit about any of the clubs he's been at. True mercenary. Lazy player.

Gotta be 45m at least hasn't it. If they were to sell him in the summer to an English club it would probably be over 50m.

Levy will probably want £55-60m from PL clubs, £12.50 from foreign ones.

Do yourself a favour and have a look at who he's scored his goals against this year. The notion of him as POTY ahead of RVP is hilarious.

Does anyone remember Fergie saying (whilst Bale was still at Southampton) that Bale would most likely go to Spurs because they offered more.

The total figure was like £10m. If only Fergie knew how he would end up. £10m for Bale in today's market.. Would have been the biggest bargain since Ronaldo.

Nah, I tend to agree in general. The likes of Spurs need to keep their best players if they are to challenge.

However, it's part of the game losing players. It happens to top clubs as well, and not always because of money. We lost Ronaldo in his prime, and Arsenal lost van Persie to us. It goes around and all clubs except maybe Barca and Real experience it to some degree.
