Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

I don't see Ronaldo coming back this summer, but it's probably more likely than Spurs selling Bale to us.

Not if Bale has his heart set on to joining us, in the way RVP did. In a situation like that, it makes things a lot easier.

With Giggs nearing retirement, Bale might just see it as the perfect move. It's wishful thinking, but you never know.

Amazing player and you could see this coming for a few seasons now.

Spurs should do whatever they can to keep him for next year. Chelsea, Arsenal are in turmoil and it's the perfect time to really give Champions League a go and try to mount some sort of title challenge if they get some strikers and defenders in the summer.

Looks like he could be on HGH though.

What's 'HGH'?

Oh, I thought it was hair gel.

Match winner again.. In the form of his life, now if the hype he was getting a year ago was the hype he'd be getting now, don't think anyone would take the piss. But glastonwank posts on here, so feck bale! Over rated monkeyboy.

He's started coming infield so much now and it seems he wants to play centrally. Last year with Redknapp it was a fecking disaster IMO, he just couldn't pull it off but kept doing it. The fact he stuck with it and is now succeeding there makes me doubt he'll want to revert back to a proper winger, which is what we could do with. Hopefully I am wrong though, I'd love us to sign him for a left wing role.

Is it best to highly rate a player because he scores screamers, or show caution because he's scoring so many screamers?

One wonders whether we are witnessing something very unsustainable or very indicative of future ability.

I'd say it's a mixture of both, weighted towards the latter.

The nature of Bale's technique when striking a ball suggests there's some control over these screamers - at times it's almost as if he's placing the ball at great pace. It's noticeable in his free kicks too.

Just saw his winner against West Ham - fecking hell, great strike/finish.

If Spurs can keep him next season, they'll have to do a fantastic job in doing so. He'll turn into the hottest AVAILABLE* property this Summer surely.

*The only purely unavailable players out there I'd say is Messi and Ronaldo.

Remember this ? :p

It does rather beg the question why, with his obvious abilities, he was ever a fecking left-back to begin with.

Remember that ridiculous record he had...whenever he played in the league (24 games or something?) they didn't win. Now he's winning points on his own for fun.

Bale wont sign for us, he'd be a great acquisition probably on the RVP level in terms of guaranteed performances but I dunno Fergie's never really been seen to speak that highly of him in the past certainly not to the extent that he'd sanction a £50m+ move for him (I doubt we'll ever do business with Spurs again tbh)

Muppetry aside for a minute - sinful I know, sorry about that :nervous: - but I hope Spurs keep hold of him for next season. In a league where sugar daddies are doing so much damage, I actually like seeing Spurs doing so well, and he's the main part of that right now.

That's me banned, isn't it? :(

I agree, I hope he stays at Spurs for AVB and the general leagues sake. That team could definitely go places in the next few seasons and if he has CL football why will he have to leave?

All the talk is "WHO'S GONNA STUMP UP FOR BALE EH? EH?" why can it not be "feck this Bale cnut is going to win Tottenham something very soon."

Just saw on another fan's forum a thread claiming that Bale is now better than Giggs ever was, and a lot of posters were agreeing.

Think I'll go punch my own head off now.

I can't understand how anyone could say Bale is not that good at the moment. It's a ludicrous view assuming your definition of 'that good' isn't Messi/Iniesta/Ronaldo standard. What sort of form does he have to be in for an opinion on him to change? Difficult to say what he'd be like at a United, Bayern, Madrid, Barca, etc... but he's the on form player in the Premiership. He's scoring ridiculous goals on a regular basis and driving his team almost single-handedly to a Champions League spot.

He is clearly very, very good currently. He's not Ronaldo 06/07 good, but in this form he'd walk into pretty much every team on the planet (in theory, without consideration of a team's playing style or Gareth Barry's role).

I don't buy this notion that he'd be more productive in a better team. In a better team he wouldn't be allowed to be anywhere near as selfish because there'd be players as good or better than him who wouldn't let him get away with it. And when you consider that a good 90% of his impact comes from that selfishness he'd likely be less productive, although with good management he'd probably be a better player.

He's cheating. I suspect he'll get caught sooner or later.

Have you seen his face? He must be cross breeding with a monkey surely. Spiderman-esque.

Presumably you mean he is cross-bred from a monkey? If he'd been cross-breeding with a monkey, I doubt you'd see much evidence of it on his face except bite marks and a lingering look of inescapable shame.

Aye. The lad's done well but he's thriving with the main man role. He won't get that at a better team.

Still reserved on Bale. Producing some fantastic moments but unsure if this is something permanent or merely a period of very good form.

At the same time though, how many other players from any of the top teams are matchwinners in the mould Bale is? I.e. Who would be able to replace Bale in the current Spurs side and produce the equivalent of Bale's output? Certainly not many at all. To say he won't get better at a better team is not really a bad thing, because in his current form he is one of the best players in the world surely?

Just within the PL, you have RVP, Rooney, Suarez who could probably do it. Don't think Mata or any of the Chelsea boys can, at this point in time, produce what Bale is producing. Certainly no one at Arsenal would be able to.

Players such as Wilshere might be seen as a better player than Bale, but having the ability to be an outright matchwinner is a rare quality, and there are not many around in the world, let alone the PL.

And to think that just a few months ago some posters in the newbie forum completely dismissed the suggestion that Bale was anywhere near the class on Nani.

He's a great player period.A real candidate for POTY (he'll win it IMO due to the big media support), I would love to have him at United even if he wouldn't benefit from the same freedom at Spurs at first

This

Spurs are probably by definition the biggest one man team in the league

And I suspect many people were saying the same thing when RVP was winning us matches. They're only looking towards him because he is in such good form, you give your best player the ball as much as possible because he is the most likely to do something.

They've got a decent defence, good midfield and good keeper. They're lacking a proper goal scorer. However, if they make Champions league, I expect them to bring in a top striker.
