Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

rumoured to have cost the Red Devils side £85 million, though they have insisted that the actual fee is below this figure. Regardless, it is very probable they have broken the United’s Premier League transfer record, which was set by last year Van Persie transfer.

Very reliable.

What the feck would Sky Italy know about a transfer between a club from Manchester and London? feck all.
Don't underestimate the power of Sky Italia because they were the ones that broke the Guardiola to Bayern Munich story in January and have various sources around Europe.

Am I crazy or this summer is different than the past one at least with our club being linked (wrongly and rightly) with a lot of different and exciting players ?

"Manchester United continue transfer negotiations with Tottenham Welshman Gareth Bale ... The figures are settled, the salary is set and Gareth Bale is on his way to the Old Trafford."

Gosh, I do hope Daniel knows about all these extensive negotiations with Gareth. Otherwise there's a remote possibility that he might get mildly annoyed.

 What the hell is that source? I don't understand how media outlets are allowed to get away with blatant lies.

I reckon a lot of it is down to Fergie leaving, these news places must be in overdrive trying to work out how we will compensate for losing our strongest asset. It doesn't surprise me we've been linked with so many superstars this season, we've probably never had a higher chance of signing one before now.

I forgive the Turks their nonsensical article due to some lovely phraseology. I particularly liked "gaping void", Paddy "3 year liability" Evra and the "reviled" Glazers. Carry on, Turkish sensationalists.

Question for the FM freaks, is it there a realistic formation that could slot in Ronaldo, Isco, Bale and Ozil?

I almost came just by saying that.

From what I'm reading about your squad, Ronaldo will be playing as a striker, or the likes of Isco ain't going to be getting much game time.

Same formation as now leaves two of Khedira, Modric and Alonso in midfield.

Higuain will be off, so Benzema's up front, with Ronaldo as a backup if necessary. Signing Suarez seems less likely.

Ozil would still be in the hole. Di Maria on the right, Ronaldo on the left. So Isco and Bale are going to be fighting for game time.

Unless Ronaldo is the striker and Benzema is the backup.

Right?

I've got absolutely no idea mate.
No need to bother about it. It's going to be either Bale or Ronaldo. No way both of them will be at Madrid next season.
You're bad at this muppeting thing. :(

What about:
Casillas
Carvajal - Ramos - Varane - Marcelo
Alonso - Khedira
Bale - Özil - Isco
Ronaldo

It looks rather tasty but it would mean we'd have to play without a real striker and I don't know if Ronaldo is as efficient in that position as he is on the wing.

It would work as Bale itself is a goal factory. Ronaldo could jump on the wing, while Bale charging with attacks.

I reckon Ronaldo would still do a terrific job up front. He may be at his best out on the wing but he's a superb finisher and could even be used as a target man if need be feeding off of crosses from Bale due to his strength and his heading ability. Admittedly that is kind of limiting him a bit when you consider he's capable of being so much more than a simple target man, however he'd still be deadly there and would rip opposition apart.

Ronaldo played many games for us as the front man during his last season here. He was pretty good in it if I remember correctly. In Europe especially, he was great. For Real, the only time I remember him playing as the front man was at the CDR Final against Barca. Had a good game as well.

I think it can work once Ronaldo starts losing some of his pace and has a decrease in goal return. For now, Ronaldo is best played on the left wing, as good a player Bale is, I highly doubt he can match Ronaldo's ridiculous goal return.

The penny seems to have finally dropped at Real Madrid. After weeks of absurd propaganda and ridiculous promises, their mouthpiece, Marca, is now reduced to tamely saying:

"Real Madrid have decided to put the Gareth Bale signing on hold. After receiving yet another “no” from Tottenham Hotspur, Florentino Perez and his team have decided to call it a day and now see the signing of Bale this summer as impossible.

Daniel Levy, the English club’s president, is not open to negotiation, and faced with such inflexibility, reaching any sort of agreement is not viable."

Anyone else not remember this happening at all? It happened a few times in 07/08 (most notably in one leg v Barca) but he said he didn't enjoy it and I don't remember it happening any more than a couple of times after that.

Pretty sure he played as a front man in the 08/09 CL Run.

Until Spurs actually sign a decent forward, and probably a better center back, then I'm not worried about Bale staying at Spurs. Not qualifying for the CL next season will be the final nail in the coffin.

You're probably right, maybe 4 times in his whole Utd career? Tended to be tough away CL fixtures. Twice vs Barcelona, once vs Arsenal and...?

My brother likes Spurs and he thinks Kaboul and Vertonghen are world class and will prove to be the best partnership in the league. Remarkable.
