GB News; UK Right Leaning 24 Hour 'News' Channel

I really, really hope that Steve Coogan planned for Partridge to leave This Time in disgrace so he can join a new right wing news station. He definitely started to lean him heavily towards the risible right.

Lying in politics has always been endemic.... its the getting caught in the lie that's change.
My old boss use to say "what ever the Government tells you (any Government), do the opposite" and 85% of the time he was right!

To be fair to Boris, in terms of my experience, is no worse than any other PM in terms of 'stretching the truth' .... through to.... outright lying, when it suits, he just gets caught out more, but what is different is it doesn't seem to bother him... at all!

Boris knows that all PM's careers end in disaster, when they lose a GE in particular, there is no coming back, certainly not in the Tory party, so he is immune to the "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune"... especially ones fired at him by a disgruntled former ally who believes he's been 'shafted' by Boris's wife... its a plot straight out of Eastenders!

The 'times' are not normal, the Pandemic is still absorbing almost every bit of news, the Euro's will offer some relief, but only for football fans and only until England gets knocked out (probably on penalties v Germany), so the population at large just does not care. Starmer, has finally got the message and is keeping his head (well marginally at least) under the parapet...he just can't win at the moment..end of!

Yes. You are probably quite right about that and especially that Boris does not seem at all concerned about lying then being caught almost straight away.
However, I have to say that having followed politics for decades, I can't remember anyone as bad or as compulsive a liar.
And that extends to his party, not just him.
Gove in particular is a terrible liar.

That is one of the main reasons why so many people have switched off from politics altogether.
So it should not just be accepted as par for the course.

Oh, I can remember a few; Harold Wilson, Ted Heath, Tony Blair (bare faced liar WMD saga)... and a few others, but the problem is these PM's were 'good liars' in the sense they could pull it off; Boris is a 'bad liar', his face, his mannerisms etc. gives him away.
However I agree Gove is in the category of 'bare -faced'.

I don't think its why people have, as you say, 'switched off' from politics, most were never switched on. Yes at GE's (and the odd Bye-election) we do get a rise in percentages of voters, but for local elections very low turn outs. My personal view (probably because of my background) is its because of the failure of successive Labour Governments (post war Labour excluded). The subsequent Labour Governments were nearly always driven off course, Wilson fighting devaluation, Callaghan fighting everybody including his own side, and Blair well he was really never enamored with the working class, he was the leader of the Islington mob saw Labour as something akin to the European left-wing ethos.

I'm afraid politicians lying, is par for the course now!

It’s actually amazing how terrible it is. Long may it continue. It goes to show that while Neil might be a top notch journalist, he doesn’t know the first thing about production.

I dunno why but I imagine the people behind the set are a bunch of broke students aged 17-20, similar to those Uni students helping Saul in Better Call Saul.

Stuck this on for a giggle for 10 min before the next Euros game. In between learning about how people with white vans and England flags are being discriminated against, and how Enid Blyton is being cancelled, we had a Bart's People segment where the audio cut out six times and they had to give up on the poor disabled kid who likes riding ponies or something.

Absolute fecking amateur hour.

the best bit about the pedophile bit was when she tried to blame Bill Clinton

What the feck is this channel?

Levels of production are quite simply awful!

What the feck is that studio, looks like the inside of a cheap recording studio

And why is Jeffrey Archer talking about Agatha Christie?

Jesus Christ it's awful

Was it not meant to begin on air far later than it has? I thought it was meant to come on later in the year?

It's incredible how amateurish it looks. Teething problems are to be expected and are fair enough but this is so far beyond that.

Also from what I've seen, it is Fox for the UK. Clearly.

Pure joke.

Nigel Farage presenting today.

Cant wait for tomorrow...

Tommy Robinson?

Companies are free to do what they want but it is this kind of stuff that's frustrating. A tiny minority of shouty left wingers with nothing better to do claim GB news is spreading hate and some remove advertising. It's weird.

 Can't unseen that in my mind now!

Down with cancel culture! Up with free market economics!

No not like that!

The masterminds behind this whole farce are likely the type of people who think the AV and IT departments can be run by one or two people and everything is just done by pressing a big red button marked "MAKE STUFF WORK", and the button shouldn't cost a lot of money in the first place.

This is great. It's just a bunch of arseholes moaning about the same thing every day like a broken record. At what point do they just all get bored midway through a rant and just pack up their shit and walk off set?

Still love the bare faced cheek of saying you're an impartial and balanced news source when you're actively dismissing dissenting viewpoints as being "woke", or whatever similarly demeaning terminology is in vogue.

Good to see you're back. :)
