Grealish or Sancho - Hindsight 20-20

I'd have Sancho as he's younger and I can't stand Grealish.

And yeah, he might be having a poor season, but tbf to him, he's very young, in a new league and in a dysfunctional team.

Grealish is just misused, he's a brilliant player. No idea what makes Pep think he's an outside left but that's that. Sancho on the other hand has been dire, but I still have faith in him.

I wouldn't swap, at least with what they have showed in their new teams.

Grealish potentially playing with Salah and Mane would have been devastating imo. I think you challenge city a lot closer than you are now.

I like Sancho more as a player, think he has higher potential and is a better player in current day, even if his confidence is rock bottom and is in a disaster of a team. The form he showed at Dortmund is better than anything Grealish has shown before IMO.

Sancho would have suited Pep and City a lot more than Grealish, and generally is a better pick for all team play oriented clubs. I think Klopp would also love Sancho and not care much for Grealish. Grealish would've suited Ole and smaller clubs reliant on him to be an individual a lot more than Sancho.

Both have underwhelmed this season but have in them brilliant careers ahead of them, though Grealish doesn’t suit Pep’s tactics at all, at least not yet. He may have to leave City to fulfill his potential. I’m not at all worried about Sancho, who’s been substantially superior to Rashford this season and who really does look a class ahead of Rashford even underperforming as he has.

I remember the argument against Grealish was we were stacked in the LW/LAM position due to Rashford, Martial & Pogba playing there. That has aged like milk.

no doubt we need a Grealish type more than Sancho. But Jack’s just the ultimate English lad going to Magaluf shouting rule Britania by the pool every day stereotype, so I’d be conflicted.

And also we could really do with another wide forward.

I don't agree.. Sancho would have been an excellent addition for Liverpool.

Hard to judge Sancho, post SAF United is a mess, and have ruined some good players.

Pretty sure Sancho would look better in City.

Grealish would probably be to blame for what's gone on this season. "Ball hogging twat that's disrupted the dressing room and brought standards lower" etc. "Only he'd work if SAF was at the helm"

Bellingham and Haaland did well not to come here. It's more bullets dodged by players rather than hindsight going back to Kroos and beyond. I used to think what could've been if we got Varane Kroos but it's such a poorly run club, we've spent a billion and not come close or even stepped up a level to stay up there. We get so far and collapse.

I’d say the significant Irish heritage makes that pretty unlikely.

like I said, we could definately do with another wide forward to rotate with Mane and Salah. But I think a creative midfielder is more urgent.

Remember VDB being heralded as the Grealish alternative

Regrettably I held that view. Huge error by Ole not to rock the boat more in 2020 and demand that the owners fund a move for Grealish over VDB. Mitten mentioned in his podcast a few years ago that Grealish’s agent was waiting for a United approach that summer and it never came.

makes what unlikely?
The rule Britannia bit

In fairness he is the typical famous english LAD, who goes to greece and has sex with reality tv stars who can't wait to tell all about it to the sun

What do you mean what? Tell me what this 26 year old has done in his career. Please I’m waiting, just stop this this crazy unnecessary hype.

Like seriously what has he done. The only stats he wins is “foul won” and “ball progression”. Laughable

I didn't say he scored a lot of goals. But Grealish plays at a certain angle - its the angle that de bryune scored his goal at.

Grealish's goals always tended to come at that angle.

Now Grealish is pretty much holding the touchline which is a complete different position to the position he was excelling at.
Wow. Plays at a certain angle, the same angle De Bryune scored so what exactly? Grealish wouldn’t have scored that goal in a million years.

Grealish has been fine, he's doing the basics well and we're a nicely balanced side when he's in the team, yeah if like him to get more assists and goals but he playing well enough without being as dynamic as he was with villa but that's to be expected

Both players (as we've seen with Sancho) would struggle at this club. A club with no direction or strategy.

They've both been okay/poorish but Grealish bar maybe a bad month hasn't been terrible. One has been learning a system that took Bernardo silva the best part of 12 months to get comfortable with and Joao Cancelo 18 months at least, the other is playing in a team at rock bottom at the minute. They'll both come good, Grealish was very good today in fits and starts but the game also passed him by at times.

I wonder what peoples thoughts are now? Both players have not lived up to expectations.

I do wonder if Grealish would be better suited to our style than Sancho now.

Still believe both will do well. Sancho will be a star eventually. Grealish will be good but always a cog in they City machine

Monsterous gap between both players progression. It feels like the Haaland v Nunez comparisons in pre-season.

Weird that. Two players playing in a team with unlimited resources and time to bed in doing better than two players in transitional and dysfunctional teams.

Very poor excuse for Sancho’s performances.

No, it's just a comparison that needs more nuance than your flattening of it. Grealish may turn out to be the better bet but there are a lot of significant additional factors that can't be ignored. City are the best side in the world at the moment ffs while we are... not.

C. Ronaldo vs Le Tallec ended up alright for us, I suppose.

Grealish would be a million times better for us then Sancho has been. He's a far, far superior footballer.

Suggesting we are a dysfunctional team this season isn’t going to wash. We’ve had plenty of players this season who have thrived and are contenders for best players in the league. We have one of the leading scorers in the premier league who’s thriving in this supposed dysfunctional and transitioning team. There’s a point where excuses start running dry for Sancho’s lack of progress. Maybe let’s give him another 2 years I guess.
