Fair enough. I completely get the aspect of not being able to replace him with someone of equal quality but the fact is you need to move on from Kane at some point and that looks like next summer unless Levy can somehow convince him to spend the rest of his career at Spurs which is unlikely. I think it would be better for Spurs to be proactive and start planning on building a team post Kane than trying to pin all your hopes on trying to convince one player to spend a few more years at the club. That’s just my opinion looking from the outside but I’m not a Spurs fan so you’ll have a better idea.
It does feel he is setting himself up for a massive fall here. It’s such terrible business for Spurs to lose Kane for free next year when they could get £80-£90m now. Can you imagine if he rocks up for Chelsea or Arsenal on opening day 24/25?
As a result, I’m still inclined to feel this is all just posturing. Will be interesting to see if the messages soften over the next few weeks.

In recent history, bought Carrick for nothing sold him for I think was a record fee, bought Bale, record fee supposedly not accepting a higher bid from you guys, bought Modric, higher fee blocking his move to a Chelsea. Don’t get me wrong he has no interest in winning he just wants to make money and he does that well. None of ENICs or his money is really in us anymore, it’s all in the name of the club…. If it goes South he has lost feck all.
Don't read the guardian, never did, especially when they had their racist chant at our badge. As for making an offer, Kane would have to be agreeable to a move to United. This has never been reported ever even by Davie's Auntie's Taxi driver. Now the conservation clearly changes if behind the scene he tells United he wants to come to us but clearly that hasn't happened. So why would you bid ? for paper talk?. Levy isn't selling so only Kane submitting a transfer request changes the narrative.
I hate to say it but I don’t think Kane is well informed or individually he isn’t very bright. The hole refusing to come to training last season etc was just a monumental mistake for him. I can’t speak for @balaks but I would have no issue with him asking for a transfer, but his actions last season were just wrong. I think he signed the extension to appease us fans, I’m actually quite interested to see what happens now. No doubt he has a massive loyalty bonus with us, and maybe that’s what his eye is on.

He's scored a lot of goals in every competition he's been involved. It seems a bit of harsh criticism to me and wouldn't mean I'd think United shouldn't be in for him at the right price.
i mean £100m is better than £0 for any club, it’s just especially so for Spurs when Kane is unlikely to be the difference between making top 4 or not. As I say, Levy only wins if Kane changes his mind and signs a new deal. Otherwise he’s essentially lost £100m for a year rental which most likely won’t get you into the CL anyway

This is absolute genius from Kane. Gets Spurs to sign Maguire for £35m, moves to Man Utd on a free next season (demanding his 10% “arrangement” fee for helping move Maguire on). Win win.
Havertz would be an underwhelming signing. There is no need for a marquee signing. I'd be happier with us buying someone nobody's heard of that ETH feels will suit his system.
I was never convinced we'd get Kane this season. Even if they were open to letting him go (which looks unlikely) Spurs would rather sell him to a continental club.
100m for a 30 year old player whose contract is expiring in a year's time is just a brainless move and I'll be glad if United have identified alternative albeit less blockbuster targets.

If Kane is planning to leave next summer, it makes zero sense for Spurs to not sell him. Trying to replace him with a 100M is a lot easier than trying to replace him with nada.
I can think of only 2 possibilities:
1) Levy genuinely believes he can get Kane to sign an extension
2) Levy will sell him eventually in this window. And these are just negotiating tactics to get as much as he can.
Players should be wary of joining Spurs as they clearly see themselves as an 'endgame club' but don't have the trophies or wages to back it up

Maguire at your club would actually be a brilliant upgrade.
Outside the scrutiny and pressure he gets here, you'd quickly find he's by far better than who you have already.
I never really disliked Maguire it was just his massive clangers every so often, his general performance level was solid.
So you would sacrifice getting an Onana/Maignan/Costa to sign him then because clearly we couldn't do both
