I don't draw too much from what he does with Martial and Weghorst or what he says about them, he has to say good things and he has to play them.

At the end of the day, we really cant know 100% sure what his dream formation is for various circumstances and guessing from us. We could only draw on his previuos and current team and go with it.

For me i just think that the profile of striker that can link up play is much more better for us this current squad. Not only for Kane but also Kolo Muani, it just Kane is more sure thing all thing considered. We have Rashford and Antony (hes going to be here for a while and will start most of the time) for the wings and they are all looking for inter play and wants to score goals and if we add Kane or K. Muani profile players than it fit atleast with our squad for the next 2/3 years. If we add Oshimen then hes more of a final chance finishers, and high chamce he will score 20/30 goals but then our play and team will only focus on supplying him most of the time. Is it going to add more goals to our team with Oshimen or Kane type player?

Moreover, like i said Kane represent high chance as a sure thing to help us fight for the tittle and i think we have to have that mindset to fight for it and if we juat try to buy for future than im afraid we will keep building the squad and win nothing at all. I so afraid for us to be Arsene Wenger Arsenal when he building and building for the future but then his squad is keep missing the sweat spot and best players will depart after a few years.

So before Kane along, Tottenham were getting into CL finals and England were getting to into Euro finals and WC finals all the time and winning them, but now their main man doesn't show up those games? Or, is it that since both Tottenham and England have produced their greatest ever goals scorer, they have been through periods where they have got much closer to the bigger honours they can win and weren't even close to doing so before?

That season, Spurs finished 5th, did nothing in either domestic cup and lost to Basel in the QF of the Europa League.

The “alternatives” is a better scouting network. It seems to me that other selling clubs clubs are finding and improving talent; then we come along and buy that talent at very high prices.

The point was made by someone else about the lack of really good strikers; fair enough. But it’s a thing where I feel like they will be new ones coming along and we should be at the forefront.
 
Kane has serious motivation for maintaining a high level of performance if he joins so I have no worries about him taking his foot of the pedal like Sanchez.

I think he’s desperate to win a big trophy before he retires. He’s also 54 goals away from the PL goal scoring record.

He isn’t a perfect fit but the CF market is poor yet again and options are limited. If we can get a more reasonable fee (£60-£80m) I’d be delighted.

That’s not our status in the football ladder and that’s not how it works.

For instance a highly rated Hugo Ekitiké who went to PSG had 3 goals for the season. Are these the type of players you want out scouting network to find?

Indeed. If he's going to go, with all the current upheaval, now's probably the time. What if a new manager comes in next season and they make top 4?

Also, he'll might think that if he waits his options may be more limited than they are now. If United is a viable option, they won't wait 12 months for him. Other clubs likewise won't hang about.

City came for Kane when he had three years left on a 7 year contract. Spurs would have sold but only for a huge fee. Levy had the upper hand then. He doesn't now.

He's now looking at either selling this summer or getting nothing for him next - unless he signs a new deal. He's a business man. He won't let an asset worth £80 million walk away for free. The new manager will want funds to spend and that'll be needed. And Levy won't necessarily have the final call anyway since he doesn't own the club.
 
Levy will put a ridiculous price on Kane’s head to go this summer. He will be hoping that new oil money will be in town by then!
Reckon he will do what he did with Erikson - sell him in January- maybe get £30-£40m but no way he will allow him to go for zero come next summer.

Don’t want us be played along all summer for this. I don’t think anyone will pay what is asked.

30 years old Kane for 100m and wages around 300k-350k pw
Muani for 100m and wages around 200k pw
Osimhen for 130m and wages around 250k pw
Ivan Toney for 70m and wages around 200k pw but will have 6 months banned.
20 years old Højlund for 60m and wages around 100k pw.

I’d hate it if those prophesies come true. Harry Kane makes sense but we can’t keep giving new signings 4x their pay. I prefer what we did with Bruno by giving him a substantial upgrade to what he had at Sporting and then renegotiate more favourable terms if he is delivering.
 
What do Kane's biggest supporters in this thread feel is a suitable transfer fee,also why are they convinced Osimhen doesn't suit how Erik wants to play. Do people not think we desperately need a striker who offers that pressing,pace and power

Kane most probably is already getting around 250 k or more ,so for him we certainly have to offer something more for others options you can reduce the wages by 50k apart from Højlund we still be one of their better options wages wise .

5 years at least should be expected with a player of his style, particularly as we should be looking to get a younger back up to ensure we don’t have to overplay him in due course.
 
Undecided on Kane.
I do think we would compete next year with him leading the line for us but the long-term aspect, plus the fee involved, does concern me. Getting flashbacks of RVP's second campaign and the numerous players that have hit their 30's and gone drastically down hill in production (Rooney, Sanchez).

Yeah mate. SAF leaving was the biggest factor for RVP. If we got Jose in like we should I’m sure we would have got more out of him.

It’s no strange because since Sarri, every Napoli striker performs at a class level. So the question begs, is Osimhen or the system? Whilst Tottenham haven’t really had any such consistency since Pochettino.
I prefer Osimhen myself because of some bias in me but some arguments can’t be ignored.

I heard you. Same difference.A wiser investment makes him better for the club, which does not address what I said.

Napoli for a good few seasons now are a higher goal scoring team than they are currently and in all these seasons their striker post good numbers. What’s to say his goals reflect his true potential ability or is he better than a Higuain or Insigne in comparison to Kane.
I am a fan of his but your reply deviated from what I’ve said.
 
Kane guarantees a quickfire return rather than molding a younger alternative especially where time and catching up is imperative. We may get several seasons out of him and it takes the burden off of Rashford.

Hopefully he will have an impact like the one Van Persie had.

I would get the excitement for wanting him if he was coming off the best season of his career like Hazard did before his Madrid move. This isn't one of Kane's better seasons, which gives credence to the idea he's already on the decline. He's still had a good year but nothing special or particularly impactful.

I will like an example of a 100m transfer for a player in their late 20s that has not worked out. Doubt their is any such transfer and their are not that many 100m+ transfer in football to draw comparisons from either.
Signing any player in their late 20s is a risk but the success are more common because they are a known quantity and are signed for their strengths, not to polish their weaknesses.

Seemingly? Yes but not really. Hence the same difference and deviation statement. Apologies for what it can get perceived as.

I was questioning whether he is the good young striker we all want. That why I mentioned Napoli and Kane(wrong example though).
It’s a 100m+ outlay and I want to question everything that might make it go wrong. I know why I want him and it’s nothing to do with his goals. He is just a brilliant version of what Rashford gave us today against Villa and I love strikers that play in that way.
His age was and is irrelevant to me because I will also want a 29 old striker with same attributes if available. Was just referencing the goals as not unique because all Napoli strikers seemingly score goals, even Simeone does when he plays and he is not known to be prolific.

But he is British and the media created buzz around him for scoring against a hapless Inter team.

Those were interesting times when Parker won the Player of the season since they didn’t want to give it to Nani!
