If he cares as much about the PL goalscoring record as people seem to believe, it's his best option. He gets to stay in the league, at a club where he's basically considered God, and nothing has to change for his family. It's the least risky option and I imagine it comes with a substantial payrise.

In fairness, Bayern are a royal pain in the ass. Every time I'm looking at a football website it's someone in Bayern's staff making comments about a player at another club.
For us, yeah, maybe. But you can't expect him to make decisions based on what's best for United.
For Kane himself... it's a big risk with probably little reward.
I dunno about that. Even if he has an underwhelming season at Spuds, he'll still have plenty of suitors, especially on a free.
I mean we were happy to spend £55million for Mount on the last year of his contract on the back of a very poor season for him too.
The only risk for him is whether he feels he can muster another season of almost certainly winning no honours when he can have a free league title at Bayern. But again he'll be a few steps closer to breaking the record anyway.
I think he stays personally.

Yep. Same happened when they lost Eriksen for less than half what they could’ve got. Same with the Berbatov negotiation he got praised for. Left them with Frazier Campbell up front for a few extra million.
Its so stupid though because they seem to have forgotten that the majority of their successful signings of that period were signed with the money from the Modric and then Bale sales. Those summers they bought Lloris, Eriksen, Vertongen, Dembele and then had some good youth products coming through like Walker, Rose, and Kane. So they should know how it can turn out selling a major player to fund players who can make the step up. Also, aren't they supposed to have some good young strikers and the like coming through now?
I don't understand how joining United from Spurs is a big risk for Kane. Makes zero sense to me.
Maybe he's worried they're more likely to pull a Liverpool post Torres than a Liverpool post Coutinho type window.
He is definitely signing that new contract.
There is no way we are stumping up >100m, I genuinely think we though Spurs might be more sane and sell him for like 70-80m. You cant allow for Levy though.
This is his only chance of signing for us. Just like he had with City a couple years ago. City moved on and got Haaland and maybe we find another striker to target next summer.
I mean realistically his only chance to sign for us could be next summer, assuming he doesn't sabotage the rest of his career by signing that contract.
Only way we get him this window is if the takeover happens quickly and Qatar give us the funds to match Levy's greedy demands.
He could have signed a new contract a long time ago and had a much healthier bank balance. He’s clearly not interested in money and won’t sign now, it would make zero sense. He wants trophies and records, he wants a legacy

I have a theory. Well, more a hope.
We are doing "easy" transfers now inside current budget (Mount and Onana) and waiting for a new owner who will fund big name signing (Harry Kane).

But even post Torres, they still bought Suarez, Meireles followed by a summer of Henderson who is now captain and Enrique who was decent for them for a few years. They could easily turn the 80+ million for Kane into a few good players to fill the gaps they currently have in their squad. If they could accept a couple of years outside the top four they could even go after a couple good young players and grow their next good team, but we all know Levy either isn't bold enough for it or deluded into thinking he can spend his way out of the hole the team is currently in. And we as United fans know that throwing money at your problems doesn't work.
Why do I feel Levy is waiting on United to make a final push.

I think we tried to go all out for him at the start of summer, however Erik was told he would have to spread the money across positions. This led to those multiple reports of us ending our interest.
I really feel for Erik because it's clear he wants to push the boat out but his hands are tied,therefore he is being forced by our leeching owners to watch Bayern negotiate instead.
Yeah just can't see any way that takeover is sorted in time for a late move this window. Our best hope is he doesn't sign for Bayern or new contract. We can then hopefully negotiate in January with a view to signing him in the summer.

A year of Poch and they'll surely be back in some form of european competition. He dosen't have to move house and while the move will be vitriolic it wouldn't be on a par with what Sol Campbell had to go through.
