I think the only problem is that there's no resale value for Kane as this is probably his last big contract.
You'd have to bake that into the total cost consideration

Kane is a risk - that risk may well be worth taking.
But for all the players you have listed, you have the likes of Owen, Torres, Rooney, Sanchez, Bale - all great players, but all players that cost their clubs a massive amount of money because they were no longer good enough as they approached 30.

And many top players are also finished at 30. Personally, I have a suspicion that Kane will be one of those, for different reasons. See him going the Rooney route. When I tend to watch him against good teams he barely has a kick as it is, and is just easily marshalled. I include us in that. He barely troubles us, even if he pops up with the odd goal.
I just reckon spending huge money on him would be a mistake. Haaland is the guy (in a year). If not, then hopefully by then Greenwood is looking like a 20+ goal striker. If so, I’d rather him than Kane too.

Agree. I can't remember ever being worried that Kane would be playing against us.
Harry Kane WILL play for United one day. Be it next season or in 6 years, as an experienced pro coming in to help with a few games and to bed the young players in.

A club like Manchester United has never looked at resale value for their top players.
He would be if he can produce the same level and doesn't regress by the time he's 30/31. I'd rather pay a little more and get Sancho instead.
If we go by Bild and others reporting on Sancho, we don't have to pay anything more. Apparently asking price is 90 million euros.
I never said he was injury prone, if anything Kane is a more well rounded striker than he's ever been but there's no ignoring the reoccurring ankle/thigh injuries he keeps getting due to the way he plays. At some point they are going to catch up with him and already are.
I think £80m is a stretch when we need other positions more than ST this summer. I don't think Kane will get 5 seasons at the top level with the reoccurring injuries he gets every season.
They're not though. He's playing more games already than he did last season. That too in a very congested season where he's carrying the team

It's ridiculous to read that his ages or resale value are "concerns". Are we suddenly turned into Dortmund ? He is probably entering prime years for striker, and to say he is somehow old while witnessing what impact Cavani has done this season at his age it's beyond me. If you're good enough, you're old enough - it works both ways for me.
If you have a chance and finances to pull this deal off then it's no brainer. Quality and competition bring standards and consistency, which is fundamental to success.
But, with Edi staying one more year, CF is no more a priority for next season.

Any mention of Kane must include the 100 plus million it would take to get him. Personally there is no player in the world that I wouldn't have a few doubts about paying those numbers.
Kane has misjudged his career slightly and now sits on a long contract in his prime years with very few options.
If he had run that contract down a little or had a clause included before re-signing, then he could be packing his bags to replace Aguero this summer. Same can be said for Grealish players need to plan their route out of the club better if they want to win trophies.

Not that I want all players to have an agent like Raiola, but there's a reason good agents are high in demand. He is completely trapped unless another club wants to spend their entire summer budget on him.
Not that I feel very sorry for someone earning loads doing what they love, but I do find it bad taste to force players to stay like that (if that's even what's happening). Especially when they've been loyal to the club, like he has.
Not really - he's played in and not actually 'turned up' in 3 finals in his Tottenham career so far.
There are few players at Spurs over the last 5 or 6 years that have an excuse for not actually winning a trophy. It's an insult to fans when players turn completely flaccid in a final and then blame the club for not winning it - at the end of the day, there's a minimum of 11 players on the pitch who, for 90 mins, have it in their destiny - and yet, few of those have actually put a shift in.
If we'd never been in a final or came close to having a chance at the league title you'd have a point, but Kane has 3 runner-up medals and has finished second one and third twice in the PL (not sure if they give you owt for that), so beyond the league (where you can give him a lot of slack), he needs to look at his colleagues more than the employer imo.
It was the same when Eriksen nearly gifted City the QF (saved by VAR), played crap in the SF and Final, then claimed he wanted to leave to win things.

I could see both of these happening, especially if we signed both Sancho and Kane (which I wouldn't be too optimistic about).

And he's getting slower, and that ankle goes every year without fail due to the way he plays the game. Various coaches have mentioned that he will have to change his play style if he wants to play at the top level into his 30's.

Exactly, we're not fecking west ham. He's going to retire with us, why the feck are some of you so obsessed with "re-sale" value. You should be concerned with winning the league not how much money we can recoup. We're Manchester United for god's sake, if we sign a player and he's good enough if should be here for most of his career anyway. We didn't sign Rooney at 17 just to think "ooh good we can sell him at 28". We bought him because he'd win us trophies and stay his whole career.

Look at City and Chelsea though, the clubs we should be aiming towards in terms of squad depth.
City have De Bruyne, Foden, Aguero, Jesus, Sterling, Mahrez, Torres, Gundogan and Silva who can all contribute to attack. Aguero's gone but I'm sure they'll find a replacement.
Chelsea have Werner, Ziyech, Mount, Havertz, Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi, Abraham and Giroud. Could argue that Abraham looks like he'd be off, but I imagine Chelsea might bring in another striker to compete with Werner.
They have these players fighting for 4-5 positions. It's a long season with plenty of games, I think we can handle it. For what it's worth I can't see us buying a top tier striker until after Cavani leaves anyway, and Lingard is probably off too. That would leave potentially 7 players (including James) which should be fine for next season, assuming we strengthen other areas too.

There's also DVB who could be backup for AM but who knows if he'll start producing.
Yes, he gets niggling injuries as many players do. But as I've already stated, he's actually playing more minutes compared to previous campaigns. So no, his injuries are not catching up with him.
We're not Dortmund. Why would we need to sell Kane at any point?
It's pretty amusing, and the epitome of 'modern fans' that they see Harry Kane - a player who by no means relies upon pace as one of his attributes, is seen as basically washed up already at 27 
He must be the most disregarded player out there - each year it's been "one season wonder", "tap in merchant", "Penny Kane", "Never passes", to now being not only a consistent goalscorer, but also is an assist machine - one who scores with his head, both feet (and occasionally his hair or right shoulder), can take a penalty, press, defend and so on. The very epitome of a complete footballer, really. Does loads of charity work, family man, and seems like a nice enough bloke.
I'm not suggesting he is under-rated or anything, but people always seem to be looking for a caveat to lump on him - very often the way he looks or speaks.

That’s a simplistic view I think. Players are sold for a number of reasons. Often at big clubs, it is because the club wants to sell them. You say ‘he is going to retire with us’, but that doesn’t account for a scenario where we don’t want him to.
Romelu Lukaku had resale value, and we recouped it. Angel Di Maria similarly. When you buy a player with little no resale value, it simply presents greater risk, given the possibility as with every deal that the transfer simply doesn’t work out. There’s no guarantee Kane will come here and be successful. Donny Van De Beek has resale value. Not that we bought him to flip, but it protects our investment. When buying a player for huge money, a club will want to know that it can get a fair amount of it back should it not work.
