Has Ozil been the leagues best player...

Vardy/Mahrez ahead of him. But yeah after those 2 it's between him and Lukaku. He's been great.

Probably Ighalo as well. 10 goals despite playing for Watford.

He's up there. Mahrez, Vardy, Dembele and maybe Lukaku could also make a claim.

Don't upset his haters on here.

I don't know whether he has been the best player but he has been magnificent.

But yeah. Incredible turnaround really... He's become everything I feared he would be when Arsenal bought him.

I think Mahrez has been. After him it's Ozil and Vardy.

In terms of form, you can say it's between Ozil, Vardy or Mahrez for this season.

In terms of genuine quality, the best player in the league is either Ozil or Aguero so if you combine both quality and form of this season - Ozil for me is the league's best player in my books. It's just incredible. Assist machine.

Probably the best overall in 2015 but so far this season I think Mahrez has slightly pipped him.

Moyes said before the game the jury's still out on Özil. Pretty clueless comment, I really fear for the next club that employs that dinosaur.

Easily Mahrez for me. The guy didn't even cost Leicester 1 million pounds and some say there's no value in the market.:eek:

So far this season it's probably Mahrez, 2015 it's got to be Ozil I guess, 2015/16 will pretty much depend what both show in upcoming months.

He's amazing this year. He even looked okay-ish when we smashed Arsenal 5-1 in the CL.

He's pretty much been everything I wish Mata would be this season. It helps that he actually has fast players around him and is used in his correct position, but I used to think there wasn't much between them whereas he's currently a far superior player to Juan.

I honest think he is. Best player in the league since the start of the year.

Looks like he finally sorted his life out. I also have never seen him such great physical condition, which certainly helps, but more important seems to be that he actually wants to play football again and has his head back in the game. Now the only thing he needs to get rid of is his tendency to get lost in the big games, which I always considered his main hindrance of becoming one of the really great players in the world.

Thought him and Silva were the two best but Silva got injured and Ozil has pulled away.

Özil has been awesome. It's crazy that he is just 6 short of Henry's record for assists in a season, and we have't even reached the halfway mark yet. Could he get 25-30 by the end of the season? Wouldn't bet against it at this rate to be honest. Now we're seeing him do things that he did for Real Madrid, and you can tell why he was rated the best #10 in the world for a couple of years at the start of this decade after the World Cup in South Africa.

Sánchez has been a godsend for him because in his first season teams knew that if you shut Özil down, Arsenal's threat would suffer. That just suffocated him a bit, he didn't really adjust to the physicality league at first either, and maybe his head was still spinning from leaving Madrid. But I guess class is permanent as they say, and we should be reserved with our criticism of players (a courtesy Özil didn't receive with 'pundits' slagging him right, left and center - a lot of it was undeserved and unwarranted). Might sound hyperbolic, but I genuinely think that if Özil/ Sánchez stay fit, they have the chance to be a special combo like Agüero/ Silva. Maybe not as prolific, but really effective.

As for being the best player, it's between him and Mahrez IMO. Vardy gets the praise and the goals, but time and time again you see Mahrez open things up for his team-mates, and he's scored 10 goals too, to go with 6 assists (mostly to Vardy).

He is playing like the Ozil I saw at Real Madrid at the moment this season. At that time he was my favorite player in football and it is good to see he has recaptured that form. However, I will say what other has noted; that he is tied with Mahrez and Vardy as the best player in the league so far. Last season he was in Sanchez shadow, but this season he looks like he is back to becoming Arsenal most influential player.

I do not understand why Mata can not emulate such influence Ozil has at Arsenal for Manchester United. He has the ability and mentality, and has also shown in the past that he is capable of being as good, but at he moment it hard to see that happening. Which is why I stated before the importance of team chemistry and squad balance. Many people criticized Wenger for not buying more players last summer, but Wenger understand the importance of team chemistry and that he has the right players to win the league if all stayed fit(the only negative was that he could have signed a holding midfielder). United need to emulated such acumen on the importance of team chemistry and stop buying players in bulk and focus on the quality we have.

Mata cannot dribble well. Ozil as well as being outstanding with his vision and passing, can beat a man with swift turns and change of pace.

I remember laughing at people in the juniors putting Ozil behind Mata, Oscar & Coutinho :D The guy is absolute class.

Neither can Ozil. Ozil dribbling ability is comparable to Mata. They are more technical dribblers who emphasize good ball control and touches rather than the ability to beat multiple men consistently. Mata vision is not at good as Ozil at the moment, but it is not that far off. The Mata that is playing at United right now is a shadow of his normal self, so I understand if some fan perspective of his ability is off.

I don't mean traditional wing dribbling. Ozil is able to weave out of tight spaces whereas Mata will defer the ball the moment someone presses him.

Ozil is a tremendous dribbler but does it in his very unconventional way with insane amounts of pivoting and left foot action. He's also much faster than Mata.

Mata is capable of weaving out tight spaces aswell and has shown that multiple times in the past. My computer is a bit slow but their are many gifs like this on Mata that shows his ability in that aspect.

Mata can be our Ozil, but he needs better man management and we need to play better as a unit. For more, you can search Mata skills in beautifully red website.

hes not much faster than Mata, he has a great movement off the ball, meaning right before he receive the ball he has that move similar to what Herrera does which creates space for him and than tremendous body language when having the ball at his feet. He is not quick. Mata is really slow though, lacks that bit of athleticism which Cazorla or Silva posses as well as Ozil but none of these are quick
