Has Ozil been the leagues best player...

Just behind Mahrez, and alongside Vardy at the moment. Don't think anyone would have called that trio at the start of the season.

So Rooney was right about Ozil and United not showing enough ambition.

screw Giggs sign Rooney up for manager.

And he wanted to come to us after he got hounded out of madrid.

Until Moyes the daft twat said no to Ozil

Nah mate, this was just a nice rumour that was on here.

Wenger had previously spoken to Ozil at the time of moving to Madrid. Wenger has had a recent interview where he explained that Ozil told him it was down to a choice between Arsenal and Real Madrid, and he chose Real (and TBF why wouldn't he?). He personally called Wenger to explain his decision and Wenger wished him well.

When Real looked to move him on Wenger called him directly and spoke to him, where Ozil agreed to move to us. Wenger was buttering Ozil up behind the scenes the summer he moved across. United didn't seem to be in the picture.

Though if you guys can show me something contrary to this I'll stand corrected as all the action happened on the last day of the window.

You're right. Half a good season isn't enough. Jury still out. So poor all those years.:wenger:
Well when you have better stats (assists) then a certain football player named Messi over the span of past 7 years (who happen to be arguably the best player of all time and also a playmaker in a more advance position), you must be doing something right...

I would have Mahrez just ahead of him. Maybe Vardy too. All three have been excellent.

Impressive number by Payet knowing he's been injured for a few weeks now.
Has he always been good or was this a sudden meteoric rise? Seems to have suddenly become a top class player at the age of 28, likewise with Nolito, who is a year older.

He's had a good year 2015. He was always good but a bit inconsistent. He was top class for West Ham before his injury. A real shame that.

Coshelknee is unsung. Ozil grabs the headlines because he won the world cup played for Real Madrid and is an arsenal player that Wenger didn't pick up from a poundshop.

One of Wenger's best ever finds.

15 assists in 16 games . Highest amongst all top 5 European leagues.

Classy player. Undoubtedly one of the best in the league and up there in the world rankings.

The best about his passing is that he makes it look so easy. Like the tempo of them is spot on most of the time, nor too fast and perfect for his teammate to receive. He is a master of the basics in terms of passing. That plus couple with his great vision, it makes him a very dangerous player.

Could it be that Özil profits lately from a strategy that is more counterattacking atleast in parts. Maybe it was not just form but way of play, too. Against the German Nationalteam the teams more and more parked the bus. Madrid of Mou was less a ball possession team than Arsenal....

Everything plays a part of course. Arsenal are better tactically and he has worked hard as a player to improve his game.

I really don't see the hype with Ozil. He was completely ineffective today and even against City, he got two assists but they were (first one in particular) nothing more than pretty basic passes.

Created 9 chances today, the most of any player this season. With another goal and assist to add to his tally. Walcott owes him 2 beers too.

He should have had about 5 assists today. Horrible finishing

Does anyone have a video compilation (or gifts) of his passes today?
A friend of mine is raving about his performance, best he has seen this year in the whole prem he said.

He's plays like a modern day Savicevic.

A gem of a player who would pick up Ballon d'Or's in a non Messi-Ronaldo era.

Inch-perfect passing.

Just saw his performance on MOTD. Jesus the guy really is special when he is on form. Those passes are something that only Messi is capable of

He's definitive proof that even top players can take a season to adjust to a new team or league.

You mean physically? Because his first 6 months at Arsenal in 13/14 were good, he had no problems to perform right away.

He didn't set the world alight at first. Had his moments but this season he's been unreal.
