Has political correctness actually gone mad?

Gotta love this whole gender identification stuff. My girlfriend was delinquent on her phone bill, so I called her provider on her behalf to make arrangements. I told them my name was Tanya and the guy questioned it, so I started claiming I was transgender and how offended I am and how I need to speak to the manager. Her entire $245 bill was cleared.

Sure they did an article about the same thing with Friends when it hit UK Netflix a while back. Homophobic, transphobic, sexist, the whole works.

Of course then you clicked into the article and it's a couple cnuts on Twitter with barely any interactions on said tweets.

Alot of the people who complain about these things don't actually care about this, they just know that if they feign outrage it will get a huge reaction and news stations will show stories about it and they will get more clicks and views and thus more money. 95% of people don't care.

Exactly

Seems strange to make a feature about certain opinions and only show people that disagree, rather than the opinions you were supposed to be highlighting in the first place.

Not to say there aren't people who find those shows "problematic" or offensive or whatever, but show some of them too rather than just disagreeing without showing us what it is you disagree with.

Piers Morgan has reacted the new Greggs vegan sausage rolls by calling out PC culture. Why? I honestly don't get it. It's simply a new product on a menu by a commercial entity. It'll either sell or it won't.

This is one of the problems with the Political Incorrectness brigade. They don't know what PC actually means. It's become a byword for anything new that finds a majority audience from people on the left.

It's the easiest way for him to get attention that he so desperately craves.

I actually think it's one of the least controversial things he's said. I think a lot of people will be agreeing with him.

Oh I don't think it's controversial or anything, far from it, it's just an easy way for people on both "sides" to talk/think about him. Those going on about lefty vegans who "can't believe what the world is coming to" can like and retweet his Tweets and agree with him, and those that think he's an idiot can do the same while calling him a dickhead.

True. Haven't Greggs been selling vegan pasties for a while now anyway, under the guise of 'cheese and onion'?

EDIT: Whoops, it's vegan. I thought they were on about vegetarian.

But it's no more political correctness for Greggs to sell vegan sausage rolls than it is for Sainsburys to sell Orange flavoured Kit Kats. It's a new product, that's all.

The phrase 'politcally correct' is being used solely as a euphemism for 'things that have a market that contains a lot of people on the left wing'. It's like people who use the word 'urban' to mean 'black' so they can get away with racism.

Some people probably think they've being pressured into doing it by extreme vegans or something, rather than for business reasons. Course, others just use it as a term for anything they're not on the side of like you said.

Either way, anyone who has a problem with a vegan sausage roll (or Happy Meal, anything) is a bit of an idiot and funnily enough, too easily "triggered".

Meh, if it tastes the same (or close enough) and is better for my health & hurts less animals then I'm for it.
I know I should be for it regardless of the taste, but what can I say? I'm a baddie.

I think it's because whenever a minority gets given a new option, they assume it must be because of pressure which they've therefore given in to. It's like how the halal Toblerone thing was apparently also evidence of the PC agenda.

I've always wondered about halal.
As far as I understand it's about the killing of the animals being as painfree as possible (and a prayer or something for the religious).
If that's correct then surely those of us who love meat wouldn't mind it, since for us it just means the animal didn't suffer. Or do I have that wrong?

Might miss here, but I'll try with a @Sultan tag.

Without googling, I thought it was the other way round? I.e the animals get no anaesthesia, which is why I thought many were against it.

Well, my mind gets easily scrambled so I probably have the information the wrong way.

Did some research now. Mind these have been found on a Norwegian page, so it might not be correct for all. I've seen some recent news that some go to Sweden to feel safe in that the practice of making halal meat is done properly.

Anaesthesia is allowed, but often discussed.
Other animals can't see the butchering.
The animal should be calmed down so it's not unnecessarily stressed with it's head pointing towards Mekka.
There is a prayer during the butchering. Preferably it's done by a Muslim but Jews & Christians are also allowed.
There is also a specific way to do the butchering as to drain as much blood as possible out of the body.

That's as far as I'm able to figure it out. For those of us who don't believe, it does seem completely unproblematic.

Pretty much that simple. Basically a very sharp instrument to the jugular with a prayer and the animal is out within seconds. In the UK most animals killed according to halal process are now stunned.
