Fixed it for you. Some of us always liked Jesse. The same way that some of us like Rashford. My judgement of a player is just not very good, let's be honest

It's OK. We don't need it.Same for most if not all for us. The credit should be given to the few who were defending him at these moments!
No you don’t get it. It’s a reminder to some here to be patient and that they... were just being twatsChange the title of this thread. He deserves some love.

Besides he’s turned gold literally the same day I created this thread he started this run so I’m changing feck all buddy
You’re crapHe's crap... shouldn't be anywhere near our bench never mind starting. If we had a better player who could do his role we'd be so much better.
It's funny to watch all those that in hindsight criticize posters who were against Lingard in the summer when pretty much everyone were. Rightfully so also, as he had shown very little up until the last few months bar a couple of good Wembley goals. His finishing was annoyingly bad (earlier matches against Watford away, anyone?). He felt like a pointless player against RM in the Super Cup and pretty much against anyone in general.
It's not only his finishing that has turned great but what pleases me most is that he has become a really good dribbler and someone who always want to have a go at the opponent's defense. Before he would usually pass it backwards right after receiving the ball on the wing.
Awh, he must have been really terrible then.

Good. Don't change anything. This is the best thread I've seen since joining the website. No you don’t get it. It’s a reminder to some here to be patient and that they... were just being twats

I mean, come on, what are we talking about? He has been with the club since childhood, won a youth FA Cup back in 2010. As some others have reminded us, he goes back a long way with Paul Pogba. Those guys - now that Carrick is in the autumn of his career, Rooney gone etc, these guys are the dyed in the wool heart and soul of the club. Jessie began to blossom in the senior team under Louis, and won us the fecking FA Cup. He has a load of stunning goals under his belt this season already and is playing a major part anytime he plays. Some of us have been onboard for a while, it's not like he came out of nowhere. That's not true, there were posters who defended him. The biggest problem was that people criticise him to the level of abuse labelling him as a championship player (never close to the truth) and that he's stealing a living. All that, with players like BFS who never had any connection to the club, got a free pass while not showing any effort with people feeling sorry and wishing him luck in the States.
Jesse should have some breathing space just for the fact he brought us that FA Cup. Just my opinion. Either way, long may it continue.
What happened to Morrison? He would be also about 25 now? Did he end up at QPR?There is only one piece missing and that was supposed to have been Ravel Morrison. Pogba, Lingard and Morrison were a sight to watch when attacking. Hurts that we could not keep them together.

Thanks. On loan from Lazio! And only eight appearances in Mexico. Best of luck to him.

Anyone else think that maybe his friendship with Pogba may have helped his development and progress. I just feel Pogba is the kind of person who is infectious around the club with his attitude and brings the best out of others around him...just a thought
Remember when we used to laugh at extreme posters on RAWK? Not so much of that these days.Yeah I find it hard to see why people get so personal when they attack someone. Most people probably did see him as a backup player during the summer me included. Question if he is good enough to be a starter or where he should play is one thing. Another to just say he is useless and wanting him sold. Although we will see the same people jumping on Mkhitaryan or some other player now instead.
I guess it is just people feeling they can go to the extreme online and say things out in frustration from pure emotions with no logic behind. Anyone having watched Arsenal fan tv should know what I am talking about.
It is very strange that many mercenaries get like higher support from these extreme persons at time and few attack them on here. Maybe due to them feeling a stronger connection since they would behave and act more like BFS as an example if they played themselfes.

I couldn't see it with him a season or so ago, but this season, for me, he's our standout player, by some margin.

It is interesting though. When Lingard scored 2 goals against Swansea (league cup) here earlier in the season few did give him much praise unlike after today. It seem people have much easier to praise someone once they are in a good run of form rather than saying that an individual game has been really good.
Yea. A general comment here, but I think still relevant to the thread. I reckon social media, and forums like this are... well, we are after all these years of it now, still only figuring out how to do them. It would be tiresome if it was over-modded, and all you had was a little clique of people who all agreed with each other. On the other hand, the loudest, most clueless posters find it easy to create an atmosphere of crisis. On a bigger scale it operates that way now in politics, and in public life as well. For instance, the vibe in here on match day does not reflect - most of the time - the vibe say of people who attend matches or even watch games in the local pub. In both those scenarios the 'local lad' thing is of course a badge of honour. One one level I must admit I despise these keyboard warriors. Most never played the game or stood in the rain, watching small time games, I suspect. In another way, I have to accept it. I am in the process of learning to be tolerant in this respect. It's healthy and good to see people from different backgrounds, from far away or near, taking an interest in the club and in the game. And that interest will grow and change and develop. The tension in here between 'moaners' and 'supporters' is sometimes very interesting. It also causes me to look at myself; for instance when you feel the need to blame someone if we lose or don't get the result we need. The instinct to moan, to scapegoat, to pass ill-informed judgement ... I know it, because I was, and will again, be that soldier. The funny thing is that respond to any kind of defending him was always this "local lad" label like it's the only thing that keeps him in the club. That actual fact was turned against him like it's not something that this club is extremely proud of. He wasn't always at his best before, he did have his share of bad games and we all know that, but those things you mentioned combined with an FA Cup deciding goal would make him an instant cult hero in past times when success wasn't so often associated as a must for this club.
Considering that, it's the right thing to call out all that over the top bullshit before. Because this recent run still doesn't change the fact that the level of criticism he received before was exactly that. Bullshit.
They aren't comments on his performances, they're comments on his ability. They're saying Lingard is shit. It's fun, because it shows that the posters in question are not very good at judging talent or ability.
Being 'against' Lingard is one thing. Its fine if you dont rate him; calling him a championship player, stealing a living etc is another. When you say something hyperbolic and extreme then you can't complain when you are called out for it.

Well, yeah. I don't think many of us are particularly good at judging players, aside from making superficial observations. But it's funny to see how incredibly wide of the mark people were when it came to Lingard (and how over-the-top they were). Not as funny as the people who had written off and decided we should sell Lindelöf a couple of months into the season, but still funny. To be fair if you were to go back far enough over the posts of just about anyone on here you will find we've all been wrong about a player/s at one time or another.
Criticising is fair, but let's be real now: Saying "he's shit" is not criticising. Lingard always had a lot of stuff he did well, but lacked end-product. Regardless, he was never a shit player. Going by what a lot of people in here were saying, though, you'd think he was the second coming of Ali Dia.Of course, you saw this fabulous goal flurry coming.
I'm not sure why people are prattling around various threads taking a pop at those who (quite rightly) criticised Lingard for often doing sod all and missing glaring opportunities. Criticism was fair back then. Likewise, the overwhelming praise right now is merited.
Lingard is in great form and that makes people happy. The probable reality is that this run of form will likely come to an end in the near future and he will go back to pissing people off. Which I can accept, because that's football, and Lingard is ultimately Lingard. In the mean time, enjoy it and hope for more.
